I got to message him directly once. It's my one Famous Person that I got to chat with. He liked my idea that the Library in Alexandria had a copy of Sun Tzu.😊😊😊😊 That still makes me happy. Don't know if they translated it....🤷
Great interview. I think it was above people's expectations because questions were so incisive and to the point (and original), Dr arrier can only portray his ideas well when he is asked good questions. Many thanks to you both for making this possible and hope you have the main man on again sometimes. Very enjoyable and informative.
I know, how lucky are we that Richard was brave enough to tackle this subject for us all!! We just need a few more scholars to carry on this torch of truth
Yes, I told him that I will not interrupt, as some do, and I won't make sounds to indicate that I am following. The interview is about him, not me. My only job is to ask questions. There was a camera on me too, but I did not use that footage.
He’s really enjoyable and cogent. I listen to a lot of atheist broadcasts for relief from our increasingly irrational media environment and some other folks like Matt Dillahunty who seem clear on most points generally say there’s no good proof for “God” but give “Jesus” a pass. They tend to make dismissive comments about mythicists and I just wonder why that is. Why should anyone assume the book character Jesus is any more real than his alter ego YHWH? Baffling.
Years ago I watched a PBS documentary on Jesus and a narrator opined that he must have had sympathizers and cohorts among the temple guard to carry out the overturning of money-changers' tables. This is another example of ad hoc rationalization for gospel myths which my education from Carrier has me alerted. The simple explanation-that it is allegory-does not enter the apologist's mind.
I actually just read On the Hystoricity of Jesus last year. Very interesting. I've always been a non-believer but I'd always supposed that there must have been an ordinary historical figure around whom the Jesus myth was based, but after reading both Carrier and David Fitzgerald I've become much less convinced of this.
Do we really have access to the historical Jesus? There is zero contemporary evidence (surviving evidence between 0 - 35 ca). When one reads the books in the New Testament in the order they were written, the stories clearly depict a growing legend. The epistles do not delineate miracles or mention the virgin birth. Mark (the first Gospel) includes miracles but does not nearly reach the high Christology of John, written a century later. The trinity is not depicted in the NT, this idea took another two centuries to flush out. This is so obviously a growing legend - teased and tossed and layered by the early Christians vying to control the narrative - it's hard to understand how Christians miss this as an obvious concern. These stories are dogmatically asserted as true - but the obvious conundrum remains: the enormous claim is Jesus was 'god on two feet' wandering around in the middle of the Roman empire, yet not a shred of evidence of his existence exists - beyond stories written later by people who were not witness to Jesus' ministry. This should not satisfy anyone.
Great informative video, Carrier is one of the few unbiased scholars out there who looks into all aspects of the topics and shows with evidences how the whole gospels fables and acts are fables, how the paul is probably a mostly concocted early hero of the new cult, and how most of the bible is fictions, personal psychological motives theologies, failed predictions, wrong informations, contradictions and plenty of adaptions and borrowing from other older pagan religions and their mythologies, so refreshing from the fundamentals lying charlatanism and pretend world hocus pocus claims.
i kinda wish i was friends wit hDr Carrier; seems like a really good dude and by the way if you heard his personal story you'd like him MORE! ( he tells his story in a lot of videos!)
I've learned how to be a more concise thinker just by listening to Richard Carrier over the years. I never get bored listening to him.

@@zachhodgson4113 That's so cool. I really am a fan boy of his lectures.
Never, never, NEVER get enough Carrier! Thanks.
Excellent. One of the most concise "packages" of this subject that Dr. Carrier has had the opportunity to present on the "tube".
Love listening to Dr. Carrier!
another excellent carrier interview. perhaps one of the best, and most interesting, summaries of his position I've seen.
I want viewers to buy his books. I hope this interview compels people to investigate further.
Nice interview. I think if you put in the title "Richard Carrier interview" and the date it would get a lot more views.
Absolutely right
TRUE!
Oh yea
Solid marketing advice!
Agreed.
I didn't watch this 3 times because I didn't think it was Richard Carrier... lmao

Thanks. I surely will interview him again. I have purchased his books as gifts for people.
Thank you both......that was lovely.
Great interview! Good questions. This is how I think these interviews should be done. And Dr. Carrier is always fantastic to listen to.
Thanks. I plan to interview Dr. Carrier again with more questions.
Thank you for the video, I’m tired of playing into peoples delusions that this character was real

This is a good interview. I always appreciate it when the person being interviewed gets to do most of the talking.

I came to that view. Certainly all the stories of Jesus is pure fiction.
Carrier makes some seriously valid points and it's why I don't hold to Jesus existing.
Same here. Dr. Carrier is a serious scholar raising serious issues about Jesus' reality
I appreciate your taking the time to arrange and record and share this informative interview.
Thanks. I traveled 12 hours for this interview.
Great interview. Carrier is always great at explaining complex material. I hope more people will check out his work!
His books should be mandatory in the southern states that force religion into the curriculum.
@@BillZebubproductions Technically, this counts as Bible Study!
This guy is brilliant. I admire his knowledge. We owe this scholar enormous gratitude.
One legend interviewing another, top tier hails. Thanks for your efforts, Bill.
I am happy that you enjoyed it.

“Jesus from Outer Space” is simply too great. As Hitchens famously repeated “ridiculous claims demand subversively derisive retorts.” Classic!
Dudes name is "Bill zebub?" Lol
Bill Zebub? Beelzebub?
Baalzebul?
Baalzebub was lord of lies. When he waged a rebellion and lost, he was demoted and called Beelzebub, the lord of flies.
