I am so admired of her works as a Artist and Teacher....Beautiful Quilt Stories and her personal Story.... I was so blessed to have taken one of her classes...Excellent Teacher!
Absolutely Beautiful! Your creations are amazing! You said something in your comment that gave me the answer as an Artist myself, and thank you for the insight!
Great video and it's wonderful to hear about her development, and the real life of such a gifted and deserving artist. Looking forward to the future and further developments in her work.
Her art is very good but It's sad that Blacks (and this woman) think THEY were the only poor and that they invented Quilting! The plantation owners were maybe 1% of the people in America! The rest of the people were mostly poor. I bet quilting was around for many, many years before the blacks were brought here. FYI---Irish people were brought here as slaves too.
I went back several times and replayed that portion of the video. I heard that "quilts have always been ours...." She DID NOT SAY that "quilts were created by us only and were ours ONLY." She spoke from her perspective. Of course others can relate. But it isn't her responsibility to speak for all others. That's not what her art is about. Many stories have been told of other people. She is choosing to tell our story.
Love Bisa’s work and her homage to black American culture.
