Mind Stone (yellow) - Originally in Loki's scepter, now in Vision's forehead.

Power Stone (purple) - The Orb secured in the hands of the Nova Corps on Xandar.

That really depends on what you mean by "different". In terms of overall style and effects and visual design, then yes it's very unique and creative. But in terms of plot and story structure...well, it's basically just Iron Man again.

I don’t recall any of the other MCU films especially Iron Man dealing with mysticism, transcendence and metaphysics…albeit in very simple and basic terms I grant you (these are comic book films after all), but it still deals with them!
Whereas almost all of the others do indeed have the same plots, characters, scripts, outcomes etc
Though as also pointed out Guardians of the Galaxy as an example while far from one of my favorites does also do something different, that time doing space opera.
Spoiler: Dr Stange's Cloak of Levitation develops a romance with Drax the Destroyer and becomes an Avenger.
And years later after the apocalypse becomes Aladdin's Carpet.

Another one I think is really underappreciated. I’m actually writing an in depth analysis of how this movie handles time and death as thematic ideas for a video next year.
I was tripping balls when I saw this movie. Great film
I never really appreciated this movie until I lost my mom and some other people in my life last year. I always found Kaecilius's plan a bit odd and while I enjoyed the movie overall, there were a lot of things I don't think I got the first viewing. Then, I watched it again this year, and after experiencing my own trauma and loss, it all suddenly made sense. When you're in that place, it feels like everything is dead, including time. I actually really related to Kaecilius, the Ancient One, and Doctor Strange. I don't know if any of that makes sense, but it's hard to explain the emptiness you can feel after great loss in words.

This period of movies is my favorite Civil War, Ant Man and The Wasp, Doctor Strange, Thor Ragnarok, Black Panther. MCU hitting its stride in Phase 3
Strange has always been my favorite hero. The fact that the movie was able to capture the psychedelic images his comics are known for was amazing to me. Still my favorite MCU movie.

Dr. Strange eventually has to use the time stone to de-age Odin and bring back the Ancient One, because no other way can they match Thanos.
One of my friends saw this movie in 3D at an Imax theater. He was never quite the same again.
One of my favorite parts of this film is dr strange talking about how messed up it is that he killed someone, and that he vowed to never do harm, it humanizes him for me as they never do that with any other people

So many roles for white actors . It would be nice if when a super power role of someone who is specifically Asian arrives, an Asian actor is given an opportunity. What a concept.
@@Huntress59 The reason why they didn't in this case has less to do with racism and more to do with nationalism, specifically China's. The Marvel movies make bank in China but if a movie so much as mentions Tibet the CCCP will ban it faster than you can say "oppressive occupation." So Marvel's money-men were never going to allow the comic's Tibetan sources to be used. As such the stereotypical Tibetan old master becomes a Celtic woman and Kamar Taj is moved to Nepal. Not saying I agree but that's how it played out.
I would note that it's not all towards Caucasians; Mordo is white in the comics. Also Wong from the comics is a subservient (and again , very stereotypically portrayed) borderline slave of Dr Strange while here he's a much more interesting character.

Growing up, Dr. Strange was one of my favorite comics. I loved the movie. The wi-fi password joke was another Easter Egg. Shamballa is an alternate spelling of Shambhala, a mythical land in Buddhist and Hindu traditions (probably the model for Shangri-La). In Marvel comic lore, it is where the Ancient One originates.
Also fun fact, Benedict also played Dormamu, making it the ultimate expression of Doctor Strange's ego.
The graphics in this movie really capture the most … arcane artwork both Steve Ditko and Gene Colan created for the comic book series back in the 1960s.

I wish Tilda's character lived longer too but i guess her death was one of the key transformations for Dr strange as a super hero so that i can understand.

I remember hearing about Doctor Strange in 2014 and how people felt that making a movie befitting of the comic would likely be an impossible task. They were able to create this zany movie without disrupting the continuity of the MCU. On top of that, they gave us complex characters (Mordo, Ancient One, Strange, etc). The writing for this movie is top quality. This film is amazing.

Mary, just before Strange wrecked his car, did u notice the mention of Rhodey's case medical case? I love how Marvel makes connections like that. I guess that's considered an "Easter egg".
15:10 - Fun fact, the broom falling and startling Dr. Palmer was unplanned and McAdams' reaction is genuine. The director loved it so much he kept it in the take because she didn't break character.
Also Rachel McAdams lobbied to jump on the MCU after she originally turned down the role of Pepper Potts in Iron Man (2008), not realizing the franchise's potential at the time.

"Mordo" or Chiwetel Ejiofor is an amazing actor you should have seen in many films before: as transvestite Lola in Kinky Boots, as The Operative in Serenity, as Peter in Love Actually and Solomon Northup in 12 Years A Slave to name just a few. His range is incredible.
He was good in Amistad, although he only had a bit-part. It was definitely an important part, though.
My favorite line from this is "The bill comes due. Always." Great line & delivery by Chiwetel Ejiofor.

the pattern of the cracks on his broken watch actually resembles the big, round window in the sanctum.
So Pangborn sent Dr. Strange to Kamar-Taj in Kathmandu.
Meanwhile, the New York Sanctum could have gotten Strange directly to Kamar-Taj via their portal network.
Some might say Pangborn did that to force Strange to grow through hardship.
I like to think he also did it as a bit of payback for Strange not helping him when paralyzed.

When people ask to describe a DMT trip, the closest thing I can recommend is a scene from Doctor strange
I love how Strange beats Dormammu. He doesn't beat him with your typical big CGI battle common in a lot of the MCU movies. He thinks outside the box and outplays him with the Time Stone, threatening to trap him in a time loop forever if he doesn't choose to leave our reality alone, even if it means that Strange has to die over and over for all eternity. It's incredibly clever.

Dr. Strange is one of my favorite MCU movies, and one of the VERY few movies I've seen that benefited from watching it in 3D(the other two big ones being Avatar and Tron: Legacy). In regular 2D it's impressive. Watching it in 3D on the big screen was like watching Inception designed by MC Escher viewed through a Kaleidoscope.
Spider-Man liked it so much in Germany (during Civil War) that he moves to Europe, gets a new costume and changes his name to Night Monkey.

During the fight in the New York Sanctum, Strange's power was failing him because he wasn't ready, he wasn't trained. The display case containing the Cloak of Levitation was broken. The cloak, is a relic, which had already reacted to his presence, and when he was cast over the railing, the cloak followed him. The cloak has its own will, its own purpose. It chose him, in that moment, to fight against the agents of the dark realm.
Most of the observations I could otherwise give, I think you caught. I wasn't a reader of Doctor Strange outside a couple issues, so I probably missed some things too. I only went a few days ago to watch the movie, because I wanted to watch it before I watched any reactions to it.

I’m so excited for the next few movies! Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is indeed better than the first in my opinion, but I know many others would disagree. Then there’s Thor Ragnarok, my personal favorite of MCU. So much fun!

I like how Mary goes from not knowing who Captain America is to listing off Infinity Stones and their current locations. The MCU is great at getting people invested.

The old Dr. Strange and Silver Surfer comics had a pretty trippy visual style. It's something that they kept for this movie, and also for some of the Guardians of the Galaxy scenes when they're in space. Also, in the comics the Ancient One was a very old east Asian man, but they changed the character for the movie.
Just before the car crash, one of the patients suggested to him is War Machine.
I do love that Doctor Strange is the one superhero that can't punch anybody, so he has to think his way out of every problem.
Can't wait for the scene where Thor is just about to be crowned when, out of nowhere, Star-Lord shows up & declares himself King of Asgard! Still blows my mind that he was Odin's long lost son Baldr this whole time
