I had my Kris Mach 3b re capped 10 years ago..runnin' like a champ. Good ol' splatter amp. Awesome advice about the tuning. Turn that baby on and let it warm up for a min or so...dead key 2 watt input, adjust tune, load, and drive for max meter and transmit brightness. Mark em'. Nice job bro.
About 7 years ago I saw a Nitro 300A on Ebay going for $450 plus $60 ship , everything I think looks good, the cover was off all tubes lit watt meter show lots of power, case was good , when the Amp came I made space for it hook it up turn it on it lit up ok try to put some power through it nothing, I did for about an hour so I decide to open and check internally, to my surprise no tubes, not a single tube ,I was steaming so I decide to contact the seller and yes he was no longer on eBay , I still have it sitting on my shelve, one day I will figure what tubes it takes , do you have an y idea of the tube it takes , thanks
When tuning a driver amp into a bigger amp, when i fine tune everything thing with both amps on i see more watts than when i tune them one at a time. Which is the correct way? Thanks fir all tue info you share!
Thats an easy one. Always tune the driver into the bigger amp when using the bigger amp. If not using the bigger amp, then retune the driver to the antenna. Simplified not technically correct explanation: With the bigger amp off, the driver is going out and tuned to the antenna. Lets say the antenna is 45 0hms so you are tuning the driver to 45 ohms. With the big amp on, the driver is going to the input circuit of the big amp, not the antenna. The input circuit maybe 55 ohms so now the driver will need to be retuned.
Well, if there is a good deal. Most of the stuff I get is local buying, local trades, and swaps though. Ebay sucks. Shipping, taxes, bad sellers, bad packers, item not as described........ I also do a little on Facebook, but that has problems too, specially with scam sellers. I do very little on Facebook, plus it has to be a known trusted seller, and I only pay with Paypal goods and services.
Thanks for making this video. It stopped me from just plugging my kris mach 3 b straight into the wall. Thanks for the tips
Hope it helped.

Yep
A lot of folks will gain some knowledge from this video buddy ! 👍
Thanks, I try my best.
Nice little Amp. Thanks for sharing! +you're time. Tuned correctly, sounds like an,artform.
It's not too hard.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge Doc. This video was especially good.
My pleasure!

Most used 6LQ6
I really do like your vids. I have a kris big boomer. 1 driving 3 LQ6’s. It only has the tune and the drive knobs. Would you do it the same way ??
Tune and Load first, then drive, but its really not important which way you do it at all.
@@tramdr mine is a big boomer. Only a tune and drive knob. 1 feeding 3.
Sigh. Schematics show Tune and Load for both the Driver and Finals, so they should be the small variable caps underneath.
@@tramdr big help thank you.
Thanks for this video very interesting..the new caps. Is 450 or 500vdc?
450's will work but 500's give you a better safety margin.
Ok..thank you for the advise

Another one of those meters that I can use. Exact same meter but does not say Kris.
