    It makes me appreciate the fact that these speakers have lasted me 13 years until now. I hope this works for me like the others, I'll try it next time I'm at home and remember.

    Thank you! I had this problem for years and it is finally solved! In my case there was only small black dots on the contacts ends that was nearly impossible to see. I simply scratched them off with a "-" screwdriver and it work like new again. I also had black area below moving part where spring is attached - I removed it and cleaned it too, but if someone want to try this there is needed to be very careful to not broke it. I own these speakers for 14 years now and they still work fine.

    Was a remote control upgrade kit made for the Creative inspire P5800 5.1 surround system? Or is there a way to make a remote control for volume control through 3rd party hardware? Any leads would be appreciated.

One has a combination of blue green and yellow , and the other has a combination of red and cream. Which do I connect to which , can someone help?

    I did't put oil or cleanner... just open potentiometers and scratch inside contacts with philips and blonw some air to remove dust. Work like a charm

    • @ApolloPTT
      @ApolloPTT  6 лет назад +2

      Oil and cleaner is just to preserve contact area from lose connectivity. Yes, scratching the contact area is the minimal that someone should do to fix the problem.

    • @hermannschuenemann3231

      What I did differently was to remove the volume knobs and also clean the other side of the contacts. I do not know if it made a difference, I think so, but it also solved the problem. Anyway, I'm satisfied with the results, and your video was important for me to feel comfortable with the procedure. Thank you friend.

    I have a Creative 2.1 speakers that has this volume control. But it has a problem with the "headphones plug hole". The audio on the headphones is very low and only comes from one side. To work around this, I need to force the headphones plug in any direction (push the plug to the sides or up or down. How can I fix this?

    • @ApolloPTT
      @ApolloPTT  7 лет назад

      From what you say, it seems that there is a bad contact between audio jack and its contacts in the pcb. You should disassembly the remote and resolde it. Maybe you have force it at some point, and you have damage it. In the worst case scenario you could have damage the audio jack itself, if you have done that, you will have to unsolder it and buy a new audio jack and solde the new jack.

    • @Gardus82

      I opened it up and cleaned the contacts on the potentiometer but it appears the problem is a partially uncovered wire when the cable enter the box. There's not enough material to cut it and fix it. I'll keep it like it is, it's evident only when I use headphones.

    • @ApolloPTT
      @ApolloPTT  7 лет назад

      Analog audio signals are very fragile and your need isolated cables to protect the audio signals from noise done by all sort of surrounded sources.
      If i was you i would unsolder those wires, cut the wire with bad isolation and use wires from a RJ45 cable (because everyone have these cables at home) as and extension to solder with the original cable with a adjustable cable sleeve to isolate and hide those cables.

    • @Gardus82
      @Gardus82 7 лет назад +1

      Great advise. I've never soldered circuits in my life, but I TIG weld steel... I'll look for a friend who does this stuff and see if he can fix it.

    • @marafado88
      @marafado88 7 лет назад

      It is a simple process that can be done, but i am not sure if it could be from that or other parts of your sound system. Speak with your friend to know if that can be for sure the source of noise in your audio system.

    When i came home, my Creative A520 volume control switch just doesnt turn on the speakers. No green light, nothing. What should i do?

    • @ApolloPTT
      @ApolloPTT  7 лет назад +1

      That could be from power supply or the switch it self =/ there is no simple way to know it for sure, without a multimeter, your will have to trial and error but if i was you i would start from power supply, by replacing it until i start messing with control switch (If i didnt have a multimeter to measure voltage in the control potentiometer contacts). If you have a electrician technician, try to show him your control switch fist, he will know what to do.

    There should be a separate on/off switch at the back of the subwoofer. But then, this speaker set only cost $80 new at the time. These 5.1/7.1 PC speakers are a thing of the past and no longer made. Nowadays, gamers use headphones, sound bars, 2.0 or 2.1 speakers.

    • @marafado8870

      it could be that easy but depends in what you have in the controller. You may need a resistor to simulate the potenciometer (dont know if is correct the name in english of this component). Do you have the same model of this, that i am using?

    Spilled coffee on mine. Still works, and still turns on and off, but both the volume and bass controls are now EXTREMELY sloppy. I can still hear it and watch youtube, but music sounds awful. The spill must have ruined the potentiometers and they now have the wrong resistance.

    • @ApolloPTT
      @ApolloPTT  7 лет назад

      I see, well that is pretty simple to solve but you will need proper material to do that, and if you have not, i recommend you to see an electrical technician to do this. That broken part of the cable needs to be cut, removed and then just connect it again with the help of a soldering machine proper for electrical repairs (~20W), tin and flux, to help tin getting glued to cables, and an electrical tape to isolate each cable or with a electrical sleeve, if you want it with good look. Until you apply the tape or the sleeve i would recommend you to use a multimeter to see if there is no broken parts in that cable. To do this i would recommend also to disassembly the remote and speaker to see if it pass any corrent between each part.
