Sauron is a destroyer. Aragorn, in addition to being a great warrior and leader, was also a healer, uniter and renewer. The dark lord knew that people united under Aragorn will not be defeated or seduced by the darkness easily.
@@austinthompson5830 Well they did defeat the dark lord. They being Gil-Galad, Elendil and Isildur, together... with Gil-Galad and Elendil getting killed in the progress.

Isilidor didn’t cut the ring off his hand. That only happens in the movie, not the book.
