    Wow, thank you, Jared. I bought the Gigcaster this past summer as the Audio Interface for my modest home studio, thinking this was an amazing all around solution. Streaming, live, and recording. Whatever you want. And I was right. But, I'm a relative newcomer to music and all the associated technology. Speaking of technology, I'm an old guy, so yeah, that's like a foreign language. But, the important point is that you have shown me stuff I still haven't found out about. I learned to do my basic Zoom virtual open mics. But there's so much more I want to do. You just blew my mind. I'll have to watch this multiple times before I understand enough to ask you some questions, but I'm sure I'll have some. Thanks again. Amazing job of showing us the capabilities of this great product. 😄

    Hi, really useful video! I may have missed this, but if using a gain hungry mic like the SM7b, will I need a cloud lifter or does the unit have adequate gain as with the Rodecasters? Thank you

    Is everything i send from my windows pc into the USB-Channel on the GigCaster? So my GameSound, Discord Calls, Webbrowser Sound etc. is all merged together into just one audio track named USB?

    • @JaredGunstonTV
      @JaredGunstonTV  7 месяцев назад +2

      You could set game and windows audio as default to usb then for discord use another output. I tried and tested this before.

    Yo. It does look great, I was looking at the Tascam 12 for a while, and also the tascam portacapture 8 (as a smaller hand held field recorder, as I think to travel a lot), then this came out. What I was thinking about using it for, is, heading into a rehearsal room to Jam with different folks, and see if we can get some 'ideas' on a memory card. Also to use at home, and try to do some basic multi-tracking, even take the odd phone call, or teach music.

      sounds great man! You've got a lot of inputs if you can make em work for you, 4xXLR combos, Stereo Aux in, Bluetooth in, and then straight to SD Card. Good luck man! :)

    Hey Jared. Can the gigcaster do "snapshots" or "scenes" with the footswitch? Example: Pressing footswitch 1 triggers Vocal Reverb + Guitar Distortion, Guitar Delay, Guitar Reverb. Thank you.

    • @JaredGunstonTV
      @JaredGunstonTV  7 месяцев назад

      it has programmable buttons and the footswitch can be used to turn things on and off. Each button on the mixer of the 8 pads can do 1 thing, i've got 3 buttons set to TURN AMP OFF, DELAY ON and TAP TEMPO. Looks like a foot switch or a GAFC can be used to program patch up and down. I recommend looking for the parametre manual, not the owners manual, which should be on the product page under downloads or support, and read through all the footswitch can do.

    Great review!!👍 I do have questions , Compared to Rodecaster pro 2 regardless of built-in guitar and vocal effects and price, which one would you prefer for home music studio + live streaming?
    love the gigcaster but how about the system flexibility for future updates of gigcaster? Can new cool features be implemented easily like in the RCP2 ? I'm deciding between these two. I Iike the on-the-air update feature of RCP2 and I cant find update news from Boss. I feel like they dont communicate as much as the other brand does😅 Thanks in advance.

      Sometimes boss surprises us like they did with the GT-1000, but this is a brand new device as an audio mixer for them, so i'm not certain on updates etc just yet and i haven't found any bugs, so they'd only really update if there were issues. Use mine daily for both work and entertainment and i haven't had any touch screen issues, freezing issues or audio issues so i don't foresee an update anytime soon. Unless they want to add things to the guitar channel or the vocal processing channels. Depends on the community around such devices i guess. Honestly... rode is a great brand but i haven't tried the caster before. Was looking at one too, but the gigcaster fills my needs from rehersals to vocal recording, guitar tracking, entertainment etc.

    Hi, your review is almost perfect! All other reviewers focus on how EQ or Pan works, or play with pads for 50% of video time. And each of them use it on Mac. Great review! There is only one question remainig regarding how USB works there - how does the "Usb Aux in" work? When I send anything from PC to a particular channel then I need to enable "Usb Aux In". But what it actually is? Let's assume I plug my guitar to CH1, send it to PC, send it through some VST plugins (i.e. Bias FX) and send it back to physical CH1 - will I hear only returned signal or some kind of mix or what?

    • @JaredGunstonTV
      @JaredGunstonTV  7 месяцев назад

      great question - aux return is exactly that you enable it and you can send it to an output on a DAW as Ch1,2,3,4. If your guitar was on CH1 and you were sending it to PC using the USB method i use (prefader), and then send the channel output to aux return on channel 2, you could mute CH1 on your mixer and listen to CH2 only... OR blend them together to listen, either way, while in prefader the volume wont change so its a great way of getting a nice mix while tracking.

    Or is it just fixed to having to plug in to the jacks in the back and get studio monitors.

    • @JaredGunstonTV
      @JaredGunstonTV  7 месяцев назад +1

      ive tracked with it and its pretty solid, obviously you'd wanna further EQ and/or compress in the DAW if need be. But yeah its great man! I travel with mine so i can work where ever i go. Obviously GX has more slots... but this gets you in the ball park.

  • @JackBauerNGG
    @JackBauerNGG Год назад +1

    Great stuff. I'm a bit confused with the pre fader option. If you have input 2 (mic) muted on the board, your discord chat would still be able to hear you? Can you showcase the post fader or other audio modes?

    • @JaredGunstonTV
      @JaredGunstonTV  Год назад +1

      yeah, the way I have it setup, the outputs are ALWAYS sending out at a consistent level, I've just learn to CTL+M when I wanna mute my mic. You have the option of PREFADER/POST FADER and DIRECT. So if you'd prefer all your channel outputs to be affected by the faders, etc then perhaps that would give you what you're after. As is, its setup that the faders give ME the balance and the mix I want, consistent output levels for editing later in Premier Pro, it all works perfectly for my needs! :)

    Hi Jared I follow you an boss gx 100 Facebook's group, you are very cool...I should like to know the minimun sample rate of the gigcaster at 48khz (for example in daw can i select 48khz 32sample-96 sample?...., and I'd like also to know how many input I could have in my daw) provided by the asio driver, and if it is a really audio card, to use online with pc at minum possible latency. Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad school English

    Please help me know about possibility of connecting condenser mic to the guitar input to utilize the extensive guitar effects.
    Is it okay to use synthetic on guitar input?
    They really should update firmware for more effects and for all effects to be universal on all channels.

  • @HarmonicaTool

    Thank your for the presentation video. Well done. The compressor you demonstrated with the microphone and those other effects like the noise gate: Are there any visual aids in setting that up in the software (something like a gain reduction meter) or would have to adjust all those setting by ear? I doubt my ears are trained well enough for that.
    My other question: Do you happen to know, whether this could be used with a USB power bank for on-the-go recording without my laptop's noise?

    • @JaredGunstonTV
      @JaredGunstonTV  9 месяцев назад

      First question, by ear, best to use ears as LEDs can be a cripple in the future. Second, if you get some results share them 👌 I've only ever used a boss power supply. But yes usb cables can add noise on higher gain things like guitar Sims etc but can't say I noticed a noise but I'd still try both and see which sounds better to...once again... Your ears 😁

    I would like to ask if anyone knows. Let's say that I want to connect a stereo piano and three microphones or a stereo piano, to microphones and an electric guitar. Would it be logical to use two inputs for the stereo piano and would it be able to pan the signal for the left and right piano channel accordingly? Would it be able to add proper pitch correction, reverb, compressor and feedback control to two microphones simultaneously?

    • @JaredGunstonTV
      @JaredGunstonTV  Год назад

      you could take advantage of the auxillary in which is a mini jack stereo. And then that frees up your 4 xlr inputs.

    Will mic channels 3 and 4 allow you to use the full range of vocal FX? I thought I seen it only works on Channel 2?

    • @JaredGunstonTV
      @JaredGunstonTV  7 месяцев назад +1

      hi, each channel you set to use what ever input, so you pick the MIC input on channel 3/4 and then you pick what type of channel you want (Console or Talk) and if you pick talk you can load your presets which give you ENHANCE/NOISEGATE/EQ/FX1/FX2/MASTER as well as channel compression and de-esser.

    One problem. All these podcast mixers are fixed at one sample rate. If all of your DAW projects are 48k that’s cool but you will need at least one other interference to do the final 44.1 master.

    • @JaredGunstonTV
      @JaredGunstonTV  Год назад +1

      I do mastering too and I set my operating system at 44.1 , I think they just use the whole 48 thing as a marketing thing (all brands) remember when 192khz was the talk of the town. I've always worked in 44.1 for that exact reason, the mastering 😁👍 this mixer is my centrefold of my desk now I do everything with it, from sessions to projects to rehearsals to casual game play, I love it.

    I had one for nearly 10 days before decided to sale it... It's not something made for musician. The guitar and bass FX are really really bad, the vocal FX are poor quality... The build quality feel very cheap especially for a product of this price... There is no 'play' button to listen back to your recording you have to enter the 'sd card" menu to do so ... etc.... it's an expensive cheap quality gadet and I would not recomand it to anyone
