The cast will probably get more attention for how well they embody The Crew, but the show's crew, specifically the production designers, deserve a huge pat on the back for how good this looks.
I've been seeing so much hate already! I think it looks pretty decent! It'll definitely be an adjustment going from anime to live action but I think it could work! Also, I would've never watched One Piece without seeing your video on it. It's now my favorite thing. So thanks!
Imagine the netflix version ends up in a scenario similar to "A song of Fire and Ice" in other words game of thrones, where the TV series ends up making up an ending because it's caught up to the source material.

The role of Zoro in ONE PIECE played the role of Enishi in the Rurouni Kenshin movie. It is famous as the most successful live-action film of Japanese combat animation. The action was so amazing that it became the best work in Asia.

The gum-gum animations are probably going to be the hardest part about this adaptation. Those powers are just way more intended for a drawn medium, and maybe even more specifically Oda's art style. Ceetainly not impossible, but probably going to be the most hit or miss for me. The shot in this trailer was off to me, but I feel like it'll look a lot better in properly choreographed fights against the tougher baddies
I think one of the REALLY hard things about that is gonna be there mere fact that human skin stretching to an unnatural length will always be a bit tough on the eyes because of just how unnatural it is. They could possibly get around it by using good camera angles tho…..like we don’t always need to see the full length of Luffys arm to let us know he’s stretching

Im glad theyre doing justice to the main character, Buggy D. Clown, so well. They even created suspense in the trailer by only showing him for half a second, truly a well made trailer.
Buggy and Zoro are gonna be the only ones who stick to their anime personality, but the whole rest is gonna have a ocidental americanized type of persona. Where’s the shenanigans? The voice pitch? Luffy’s smile and carefree way of being? It’s gonna be lame like every Netflix adaptation, they’re not trying to reach people who already like the anime, but those who don’t like anime.

Nah.. I don't get it why they gotta make the outfits accurate to the anime. It just looks goofy. It would've been better if they just get a normal outfits as long as the plot is accurate to the anime. Looks too childish breh ngl
I actually went to a summer camp with Inaki, or Kiki as he liked to be called, around 5 or 6 years ago. This was in the mountains of Southern California at a retreat called Pali. He was energetic and charismatic, frequently the center of attention, and kind to everybody around him. Despite only knowing him for no more than a week or two, he was the type of person that made you feel like you'd known him for so much longer. Great to see that the best qualities of his character continue to shine and that he has found success!
Matt Owens, the showrunner, said that Nami’s “Tasukete/Help Me” scene is a highlight of the show and he really wants people to see that part in the live action because he feels like they nailed it UPDATE: Oda himself has now also seen that specific scene and described it as perfect.
Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't that scene a couple of arcs in, with the Arlong pirates n stuff? That would mean they'd either have to make a very long running series or compress the hell out of it
I have never wanted anything to succeed more in my entire life. This is my favorite anime series and a whole collection of people who barely understand what anime is,are going to see it soon. I just hope this series got the love it deserved.

I'm not a fan of One piece and I don't know the whole story, but when I watched the Live Action on NETFLIX, I found out why ONE PIECE is so popular! I was so amazed by the story, the effects, designs, Directors, crew members and all the casts especially IÑAKI as LUFFY! I suddenly fell inlove and became an instant fan of him! I love when he's being GOOFY but he's a GOOD FRIEND too and do everything to follow his DREAM to become KING of the PIRATES! Thank you Netflix and Mr. Oda! Waiting for SEASON 2 ☺
The production value is very impressive, they actually built the ships and everything. i saw the behind the scenes clips a few months ago and the whole baratie set looked incredible.
I'm pretty impressed with how well they managed to make Buggy seem plausibly intimidating despite not veering too far from his comical design, which gives me some hope in how they'll handle the looks of the weirder looking characters. How are they handling Arlong's look, for example, or are they going to be able to give Smoker two cigars without making him look silly?
Easiest thing ever lmao just copy exactly what WB did with the Joker like Killer Clown is a classic troupe shouldnt be that hard to make a clown looks intimidating, as long as you have even a little bit of knowledge in character choreography ofc
Done watching. Congratulations to the cast and crew. You've broken the curse, the greatest anime adaptation of all time. Thank you Netflix for not ruining my favorite anime.
This show will either set a standard to future Live-Action Anime unlike anything we've ever seen before, or completely stop anyone else from trying ever again. Cannot wait at all nontheless for this to come out.
This is what happens when you stick closely to the source material and translate it well into live-action! Finally the curse has been broken! Amazing job to the entire team! GIMME MORE!!!!
The previous anime outings from Netflix don't exactly inspire me with confidence for this series, but I am begging, downright PLEADING, for the sake of a promising cast that this is good! It's got a lot going against it, but if it can pull through, it'll be one of the most amazing turnaround stories ever.
The one after this is already getting controversial because it’s gonna take place in America and change all of the characters to be American Yea. Netflix is gonna pull another Death Note On My Hero Academia
I wonder will this One Piece live action go deep into Oda's character build with the heartfelt moments like recruiting Nami? it still makes me shed tears today thinking back how emotional the starting journey with Nami struggle and brutalizing her own arm because of Arlong, also other future crew mates they all been through a lot and have their story rich arc. I hope they will go all the way to develop and mature the characters like Oda made them to be joyful, dark, hopeful and slowly breaking their own boundaries!
It's going to be like a power ranger don't expect high enough with live action adaptation. The last good live action is Sonic and Chip & Dale. You know why because they added cartonish characters to live action, that's why sonic got 2 new sequel

Loved every moment of the show. All of the cast did a great job. I liked all, but liked Emily the most. She's absolutely perfect for the role. I simply couldn't get enough of her. Waiting for S2. I hope they make the complete show
To truly emphasize the greatness of our all mighty ruler and saviour Buggy-sama by giving him half a second of screen time truly just gives me hope that even if the worst case scenario happens and all else fails in this movie, we still have Buggy D. Clown to hard carry it to inevitable success
Remaining optimistic but cautious on this. I like the energy of the cast, and really it's just up to Netflix's scriptwriting to see how this series is received. Hoping they make us all proud with this adaptation.
All it shows that visual design art team has zero skill at creating their own unique take on the show. Visuals are poorly done. All these characters feels more like cosplayers rather than real people in this universe. Environment sets feels like build for some school drama. Everything stinks of lack of skill or care. Feels cheap and fake.
I just have no idea how they’ll pull this off but I really am hopeful that maybe they actually could. This is also the first time I’m seeing this much optimism for an anime live action adaption so glad to see us have some at least
Speak for yourself. Everyone knows it’s going to be dogshit which is why Oda said if it fails it fails. No one asked for this monstrosity, some things just shouldn’t be live action
I honestly think Oda having the final say on everything from cast to the trailer has helped A LOT. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have faith. But this does look fun!

This trailer has some amazing positives. First of all, Zoro is absolutely perfect in his role. I can't wait to see the bandana come on. Second, the seaking looks astonishing. Third of all, the atmosphere is perfect for one piece. Fourth and last, this kid is really riding the Luffy vibe well.
Animes like One Piece have a lot of exaggerated reactions and expressions, along with fictional elements, that will never translate in live action. Movies like "the mask" do a great work at this, but with no anime to take it from, it was never compared to see how much worse it would have been if it had.
To be honest, i will like it as long as the characters stay in character. Like a luffy that laughs when his crew get into arguments, and a luffy that smiles a lot.

It looks like they're doing a really good job being faithful to the shows aesthetics. I think their biggest problem is gonna be trying to translate the whacky powers into live action. That gum gum power was the one part that looked off. The rest of the action looks respectable. Some fun looking swordfight scenes
"It looks like they're doing a really good job being faithful to the shows aesthetics." Really? Where is Sanji's Swirled eyebrows? Where's Usopp's nose? Why is buggy the clown vitamin D deficient? Buggy is supposed to be tan... Idunno, but the aesthetics seem kinda off to me, dude. xD "That gum gum power was the one part that looked off." Yeah, turns out, the main flaw in the aesthetics, is that it's a FCKING LIVE ACTION! That's really what this all boils down to, this movie's problem, is that it's a live-action movie. :P That's why they can't recreate Sanji's eyebrow swirl, and why they can't give Usopp his nose, and why... well actually Buggy the clown has decent live-action potential, they just totally butchered it (He's not suppose to be pale-faced, he's supposed to be Tan, and he's not supposed to have smudged clown makeup on his lips, because he has tattooed the clown-look to his lips so that it would never smudge or wear off in the middle of a fight, that's why buggy still has his signature look, even in max-security prison, AKA, Impel Down)... Because it would look fking AWFUL in live-action. :P "The rest of the action looks respectable." Hard disagree there.
@Monkey D. Luffy yeah seriously I mean bruh both anime, live action are diffrent things a live action cannot perfectly replicate and that's fine. And so far this trailer looks quite promising to me.

Especial kudos to the showrunners Matt Owens and Steve Maeda who preserved the pure, joyful heart of the characters and somehow made it really work in live-action!
this has the earnestness of a fan-made cosplay video and a little bit of Stephen Chow energy. this is both the highest praise I can offer it and what will probably lead most viewers to find it cringe. I’ve enjoyed following the cast and crew on instagram and seeing how much passion they’ve poured into it - regardless of how it turns out, I’m wishing this adaptation the best
to elaborate a little on the cringe part, I personally love a hefty amount of pulp and camp with my fiction, so if this trailer is anything to go off of, it’ll be right up my alley. but it’s hard to imagine that gelling with a wide audience. I foresee this show being a one-season oddity with mixed critical reception and ultimately a weird footnote in the legacy of the original series, which in the age of reboots and remakes, would make it at least pretty interesting! I’d be happy to be wrong; even if this show isn’t great right out the gate, weird, kinda bad stuff deserves to get made and be seen, and improve over time. which is why I’m willing to commit to watching the whole thing even if I end up hating it.
Honestly, I liked the trailer and while Luffy's voice ain't as energetic, he does sound like he's having fun playing the role. As long as he can keep that feeling he's going to be a great Luffy.
Just can’t have as much fun as Henry with the Witcher or he gone. This is giving me Cowboy Bebop vibes though. Netflix just has a habit of ruining stuff it touches.
I'm thrilled! Being a fan of the manga, I'm curious to see how they'll bring the story to life on screen. Fingers crossed for a faithful adaptation that captures the essence of the source material! 📺📚
I always like to remind people that any time a story gets retold into another medium, it will always be adapted and thus different. You just can't make it the same. With that said, as far as adaptations go, the vision behind this looks interesting. I hope it captures the spirit of the original. I will most certainly give it a shot.
Same. It has a certain feel to it. I can tell that they put alot of effort into making it but its just the trailor hopefully the show it good. I know ill be getting Netflix just to check it out 😁👒✊
What I really like is all the character's hair. It doesn't look tacky like cosplay wigs and looks very realistic, like the actors got a real haircut and dyed their hair to suit their roles. The outfits and voices are also decent, it's hard to replicate the japanese dub as japanese voice acting tends to be way more exaggerated. As this is a live adaptation, I liked how they toned it down to make it sound like real life conversations. If Netflix can pull this one off, it will be the first adaptation that gets the seal of approval from the anime community.
Are you referring to one piece adaptations or anime to live action adaptations? Because, if the later, the rurouni kenshin live action movies already have that seal of approval. This would not be the first. though, if approved, it could join that in being one of the very very few to get the seal of approval. So, still impressive. Will have to wait and see.
@@pillow1557 I disagree with that, or well at least with Nami, Nami's wig is so obvious and looks bad and the tecnical aspects of the outfits seems pretty cosplayer, especially Luffy and Nami again, I do find pretty okay Zoro and Sanji and Usopp looks actually great.
Inaki is even better at acting as Luffy than I thought. His line at the end where Zoro says 'no they don't' felt so perfect, because you could see that there was no thought ad just pure excitement and feeling cool energy from him
On the other hand this sentence alone gave me another one piece theory... XD Making the attacks of the straw hats stonger by calling out the attack name sound like the first manifestation of his way later sun god cartoon powers. XD
This looks about as good as a live action adaptation can be. I’m not expecting it to be 1:1, but the cast looks great, production design looks insane, and Oda himself was personally involved just about every step of the way and it has his seal of approval. Honestly looks pretty great
If Oda was involved and they actually take his advice to heart, it might actually turn out ok. Im not getting my hopes up though. Netflix has messed up their previous live actions pretty badly.
@@Gnollish-time-dilation Oof, the first one that comes to mind for me was Cowboy Bebop. CBp's biggest mistake was two fold. It didn't know if it wanted to be a new original story or rehash the anime, so it split the difference and became the worst of both worlds. It didn't know if it wanted to be an episodic series with a few threw lines (like the original series) or a bingeable streaming series, so it split the different and became the worst of both worlds. They butchered Vicious because they didn't understand that Vicious is BARELY a character. He didn't NEED development or a side plot. He certainly didn't need to be made some bizarre weirdo. Just let him be a dark mirror of Spike and use him sparingly. Also the netflix creators didn't understand a very important part of CBbp's aesthetic. Like I thought the sets were cool, and the feeling of unreality felt deliberate to me, but they were also wrong for this show. They could have changed tons of stuff, and in fact in isolation there's plenty of things that are fine to change, but at it's core, the one thing they couldn't change is this. IT ISN'T CYBERPUNK! It's . . . bebop! It's world is rundown and raggedy and dingy, but it's also alive and spiritual! A melting pot of colors and cultures! When the camera pans down a street on mars, you can imagine the sizzle of street foods. This is a world where, yeah, people are up on hard times, but life is STILL worth living! Live action CBbp the solar system is just a craphole all over. And it's less interesting for it.
I like the look and I like how it's at least a little different from the original so you stay on your toes while remaining close enough that fans will still enjoy it. I'm cautiously optimistic.
Yeah at some level I wonder if it'll work because Nami joining early and the ship (Merry) looks to be early too / they get to see Merry getting built. It's a totally different feel to how the manga did it but I wonder if it'll work.
It looks decent. I don't really care if it turns out bad, I'm just grateful that I will be watching a live action One Piece. If this turns out great, it will be one of the longest series of Netflix.

I hope they don't skip it and go to the Grand line. I hate to say it, but they could. Nami is already around and could just join the crew for a different reason. Hoping they don't.
They won’t. One Piece is not a serious business anime, it’s a fun show with moments of tension and sorrow. There will be no shenanigans story telling like we’re used to. This live action is made for people who don’t like anime much less a “childish” anime like One Piece. Luffy and the rest of the crew will have a american like personality.
I hope for the success of this show. I genuinely don't want it to be bad since a lot of work went into it. They say Oda is involved, so I want to believe in him.

Man, I wonder how this is going to turn out in the end, if this turns out as good as alot of people hope it will be, we may be getting multiple seasons
All the actors were approved by Oda and he postponed the series for that long because he wanted everything to be as he envisioned it. I think it's gonna be good.
The little bit of sword play from Zoro in the trailer looked great. Man, I want this to succeed so bad. As long as they hit on the main points of the story and keep the characters true to the manga, I believe this will finally be an adaptation worth watching. I think a majority of us can come to an agreement that the CGI is not the most important factor the main thing that we want is to make sure that the actor's capture the essence and spirits of the characters and the world truly does feel like one piece
I was expecting the cgi to be atleast a little better with the budget they had
@@balakay5084 I know what you mean but I think at the end of the day what matters as if the actors and the show is good bad CGI can be forgiven so long as the show itself is still good
I’m betting most of the cgi is being used on the fishmen. People behind the scenes have been saying they look awesome and I mean it makes sense because they’re the main villains with arlongs group. However I think the Gum gum looks as good as it can. And the sea king is ehh but I bet they’re putting final touches before it releases
Nope. We expect the best cgi.
@@tobluetoblackYes. I agree. My main concern is if they can balance the comedic and emotional side of the anime, such as when Nami is stabbing her arm? Will it be able to capture Luffys goofiness and charm? If it manages to capture the spirit of the original, which is essential to do when adapting something, I can forgive the bad cgi.

Animes like One Piece have a lot of exaggerated reactions and expressions, along with fictional elements, that will never translate in live action. I definitely agree the voices will take getting used to, but the actors definitely fit the characters if you go by the nationalites Oda thought each one would have represented if they were from the real world.
Same, I'm cringing a little, but that's caz I'm spoiled with professional voice actors. It makes sense that all the characters would have accents like Luffy, being Brazilian, you can hear that spanish accent pretty thicc.
Battle scenes should be dynamic, unrealistic not realistic! Faster! It's boring if it's slow..
Just think of it as watching in English dub 🙂
@@ezeeweezy9850 that's why i cringe a little. with time maybe.
It looks like they're doing a really good job being faithful to the shows aesthetics. I think their biggest problem is gonna be trying to translate the whacky powers into live action. That gum gum power was the one part that looked off. The rest of the action looks respectable. Some fun looking swordfight scenes
They’ll probably have way fewer fight scenes than the anime and will probably show less of the powers.
"It looks like they're doing a really good job being faithful to the shows aesthetics."
Really? Where is Sanji's Swirled eyebrows? Where's Usopp's nose? Why is buggy the clown vitamin D deficient? Buggy is supposed to be tan... Idunno, but the aesthetics seem kinda off to me, dude. xD
"That gum gum power was the one part that looked off."
Yeah, turns out, the main flaw in the aesthetics, is that it's a FCKING LIVE ACTION! That's really what this all boils down to, this movie's problem, is that it's a live-action movie. :P
That's why they can't recreate Sanji's eyebrow swirl, and why they can't give Usopp his nose, and why... well actually Buggy the clown has decent live-action potential, they just totally butchered it (He's not suppose to be pale-faced, he's supposed to be Tan, and he's not supposed to have smudged clown makeup on his lips, because he has tattooed the clown-look to his lips so that it would never smudge or wear off in the middle of a fight, that's why buggy still has his signature look, even in max-security prison, AKA, Impel Down)... Because it would look fking AWFUL in live-action. :P
"The rest of the action looks respectable."
Hard disagree there.
To say nothing of the New World... Getting much closer to DBZ there!

Best comment on this trailer. Completely accurate.
That’s exactly what I thought when seeing the trailer. It has Stephen Chow energy for sure.
It looked like one of those fan-made.
I cringed you're right lol
to elaborate a little on the cringe part, I personally love a hefty amount of pulp and camp with my fiction, so if this trailer is anything to go off of, it’ll be right up my alley. but it’s hard to imagine that gelling with a wide audience.

Feel bad for the actor. Seeing a real human being act like an anime character is always cringe. I hoped they turn down the cringe to the lowest
Just can’t have as much fun as Henry with the Witcher or he gone.
This is giving me Cowboy Bebop vibes though. Netflix just has a habit of ruining stuff it touches.

That’s not luffy his voice personality scare it’s all gone wtfffff😢
It will get zabi
Are you referring to one piece adaptations or anime to live action adaptations? Because, if the later, the rurouni kenshin live action movies already have that seal of approval. This would not be the first. though, if approved, it could join that in being one of the very very few to get the seal of approval. So, still impressive. Will have to wait and see.
It actually fits them and looks realistic good
@@pillow1557 I disagree with that, or well at least with Nami, Nami's wig is so obvious and looks bad and the tecnical aspects of the outfits seems pretty cosplayer, especially Luffy and Nami again, I do find pretty okay Zoro and Sanji and Usopp looks actually great.

Inaki is even better at acting as Luffy than I thought. His line at the end where Zoro says 'no they don't' felt so perfect, because you could see that there was no thought ad just pure excitement and feeling cool energy from him
Oda literally said in an sbs that luffy is the type of guy to "speak before he thinks" and this dude REALLY nailed it

@@Gnollish-time-dilation He is the executive producer.
