The high voice is Falsetto. I heard, this was during the height of Disco, so out of irritation the guy singing said something like, I could write a Disco song easy; in fact, the whole album sounds Disco-ish. This song ended up their biggest hit - I think. "Sure Know Something," is another good "Disco-ish" song. I really like their song, "Watching You," about a predator. It's NOT Disco. Thanks for your reactions.
At the heart of KISS is always old time rock and roll. Paul was a genius song writer and player, and gene always had a rough edge on the bands music.. they always were considered Rock, but sometimes hard, sometimes soft, this song had a disco influence... but they were very talented. Even their unplugged stuff was brilliant. So many hits. Great reaction.
Kiss is a heavy metal band. but this is their disco song. they slayed. they could really do anything they wanted, but mostly stayed in one lane. this one paid some bills though. :)
I believe the bassline was written first for this song. Paul Stanley wanted to prove he could write a disco song easily. It's actually Stanley playing the bass on the recording.
You heard Magic Touch? Legend tonight? The Oath? King of the mtn? Nowhere to run? Tears are fallin? Strutter? Love gun? Creatures of the night? Dance all over your face? Not for the innocent? King of the nighttime world? While the city sleeps?
To answer your question Kiss was influenced with Disco from the label Casablanca records they were signed to. They tried a creating a rock/disco song and scored an international hit. I enjoyed your analysis of the song, you know your music!
Many of the younger group are surprised by Kiss. "Beth" is a good example of their depth because it is a ballad & one of their more popular tunes. I bought my dad the Destroyer album in the 70s & he enjoyed it. We shared a love of music & I still have an eclectic taste in music mostly focused on popular bands & songs from the 50s to 2000 (when it just became computerized, IMHO). I believe you are thinking about the term Falsetto.
I was a proud Kiss army member in 1976 I loved KISS they were a force. As a teenager growing up in the 70's this totally eliminated any remaining cred the band had left. So sad.
KISS were influenced by the look of the New York Dolls and the costumed stage act and foot stomping anthem Songs of UK Band Slade. Why their first live album was called "Kiss Alive" after Slade's 1972 album "Slade Alive", it's also why their single "Rock And Roll All Nite" was mis-spelled, as Slade has a series of UK hits from 1971-1973 that did the same.
This was not a typical KISS song. Their typical song is rock. This song was them trying to cash in on the Disco craze that was so popular at the time the song was recorded. It was surprising this song turned out to be one of their biggest hits. I saw in an interview Gene Simmons really doesn't like the song, but he gives the people what they want.
This was the song that killed the Empire. It would take listeners fifteen years to finally forgive KISS for releasing this disco song. KISS were the last ones to jump on the disco bus, before it went over the cliff. They had to run to catch it.
KIss was never what you would call a great band but their stage presence was incredible. They had and still do have die hard fans, but old school rockers like myself didn't really care for them..
I am a die hard KISS fan there is no better live show guaranteed seen them over 20 times since 1975. No they are not great musicians they are a great performers. Unfortunately they sold out in the Disco era for a hit but still not top of the resume LOL Keep the reactions coming !!!!!! Detroit rock city, Love it Loud, Calling Dr Love, Cold Gin, Rocket ride, Beth, Hotter than Hell, Firehouse, Strutter are some others which are more Rock orientated
A little surprised you liked this. You'll get the Kiss groupies in the comments of course but most of the rock world knows them to be one of the most overrated bands in history. Makeup and a couple of catchy tunes worked back in the day.
How are they overrated? What is missing? I would say that music that makes someone react, has quality. I don't know how to "measure" it otherwise. Personally, I feel Kiss takes off, what they do works.
@@elisabet-ms6ckPut it this way. When people talk about best musicians or best overall groups, even if just categorized to rock, you never ever hear Kiss. But yet you hear comments on these videos that make it seem otherwise.

YES! Kiss’s disco song! Was never a Kiss fan and many of the die hard Kiss fans hate this song. Not me, I’m going to be disco dancing to the grave 😂❤

Old school classic cooooolness! 🖖❤
I remember this video on MTV. Woohoo ☮️
The bass track is totally disco but Completely rocking They were able to meld both
Like kiss or not, kiss remains one of the biggest and most influential bands of all time
They are heavy. Detroit Rock City, Love Gun, War Machine, Makin Love are songs you should listen to.
You heard Magic Touch? Legend tonight? The Oath? King of the mtn? Nowhere to run? Tears are fallin? Strutter? Love gun? Creatures of the night? Dance all over your face? Not for the innocent? King of the nighttime world? While the city sleeps?
Love this song. Saw them in concert. Demon man scared me. Still does but he plays great guitar. Lol.
1979
Kiss fans were pissed. 44 years later? The hard core fans like it now!
In the 1970s and early 1980s they were the BIGGEST, most POPULAR, Rock-n-Roll Band in the World.
Bar none!
Great channel, my Man!
Beat Saber came out with a Rock pack. Kiss was on there, but it was this, their disco song lol.

Kiss were heavy with the exception for this fans weren't happy with this .Having said that it was a huge hit .Personally i love it.
But it also gave them lifelong new fans also. So for that they're thankful

Only song to reach the top 10 from my understanding. Shock right!
Thank You brother. They have a range to them.
My start as a Metalhead was 1980 with the KISS- Movie , this Song was a Promo in Germany to the Movie
This was a very polarizing song for many KISS fans. Many jumped ship after this one.
The make up was brilliant idea.
They were heavy metal in the 70's
This was just too good at 11 years young.
I was a proud Kiss army member in 1976 I loved KISS they were a force. As a teenager growing up in the 70's this totally eliminated any remaining cred the band had left. So sad.

This was the song that killed the Empire. It would take listeners fifteen years to finally forgive KISS for releasing this disco song.
KISS were the last ones to jump on the disco bus, before it went over the cliff. They had to run to catch it.
Mugs,the man!!what's up brother?

There’s no analyzing this disco rock banger it’s timeless like Rolling Stones disco banger “Miss You”….
I feel like it's gene Simmons bass with the drums 1st
This was KISS's way too KISS disco goodbye 🎶💋
KIss was never what you would call a great band but their stage presence was incredible. They had and still do have die hard fans, but old school rockers like myself didn't really care for them..
Want a off the wall sound. Listen to Beth from Destroyer album.
Strutter, Sure know somethin, Love gun, Shandi and Only you are a lil smoother

I am a die hard KISS fan there is no better live show guaranteed seen them over 20 times since 1975. No they are not great musicians they are a great performers. Paul got like 5 octaves
This was all bassline
If you want to hear a great disco song check out “Grace of God” by Machine.
counter tenor
falsetto is the term you are looking for.
I don't "hate" this song, but it is not highly indicative of what most Kiss is all about.
We know u love Paul just admit it ha
You heard Steely Dan right?
Detroit Rock city obv
Vocal pitch is C3
This track was meant 2 b tho
This is late 70s. point given.

A little surprised you liked this. You'll get the Kiss groupies in the comments of course but most of the rock world knows them to be one of the most overrated bands in history. Makeup and a couple of catchy tunes worked back in the day.
Otherwise a gimmick

Haha Overrated. Every major and minor band was influenced by KISS. Ace Frehley made so many guitarist pick one up.
@@peterstudios961Can't tell if you're trolling or not but that's hysterical
Why does everyone start with the disco garbage
You mean Falsetto , high note 😉
Thank you its so strange how the brain works lol
