I badly want to do psychiatry. But my parents and relatives are opposing. The most happiest dept i have seen in my hospital is psychiatry dept. Those people are cool and want to celebrate every small things in their life rather than going beyond patients all time.
I'm a first year psychiatry resident in Chennai. If you want to take Psychiatry , if you're really interested you should take Psychiatry. There's never a dull moment , it's so intresting . Plus , super chill . So many opportunities for research . India is ina dire need for good Psychiatrists . Choose Psychiatry!

Sir, I love psychiatry because I always like to solve people's problems and try to understand why someone behaves in a certain way or why people are who they are. But one thing I have noticed. Mostly when people come to know that I am a psychiatrist, they tried to avoid me mainly because I felt that they feel that I will be able to read their mind which I sometimes can according to their body language and mood.

@@drvinay_ambekar Don't worry. 533 marks here, will take md psych from gov clg. Relatives will keep talking anyway. I told my parents that I can either become a bad surgeon, a good physician or a great psychiatrist. So just go with gut feeling.

Hello sir....I am a MBBS graduate....I want to do MD psychiatry.....but I don't want to be involved in private practice....my main focus is on doing research in this field......so can you please tell me about job opportunities in prime institutes like AIIMS, PGI....or what is the scope to get a job in a government mental hospital.... because I don't care too much about the money ( it can be average..but shouldn't be meagre)....but are there job opportunities in the government sector......

Sir, I had attended your class on psychiatry. You said that psychiatrist have highest risk of mental disorders in the comparision of other specialities in medicine. Followed by anesthetist and ophthalmology. So that means psychiatrist have higher risk of mental disorders as they see such patients? But in this video you said that it is not that psychiatrist have more risk.
