I love it when you get hit when streaming a tutorial. It brings it to the next level of tutorials. Don’t get me wrong I love your tutorials, but when you catch something or get a hit or land something while providing the tutorials it’s that much more special! Keep them coming!
Another thought on swinging spoons is watch the the steelhead fly fishers, when the spoon hits the water kick a mend in to the line, the spoon will sink to the bottom right away, then stay just in front of the tension with your rod trip which will slow the spoon way down. This will allow the spoon maximum time where the fish are holding.
I’m currently struggling in the high water by me! Rain has been on our radar for the past month and it was just non stop heavy steady rain. It was windy today, we’ve marked a few fish around 7-12ft in my river and we didn’t catch any fish but we saw a few here and there surface jumpers. Hopefully I can tune in to your guys’ channel for me to hook onto my first steelhead!! Very pumped for a nice female spawner!! Great video and thank you!!
I've had amazing feedback from the people I've been sharing these educational videos with back east. I find it interesting how different we fish out west as to what they do in the east. These videos are inspiring these people to try something new in hope of landing more fish! The plus in this one Marlin... is you catching one during the tutorial! Yet another great one! Keep em coming!!
I love your guys' How To videos, but man when you include fish being caught with the methods, the entertainment value of the video goes through the roof.
Marlin... great video! Love the explaining of how to read the water in conjunction with showing the presentation. Exactly what I need to see... and you nailed a fish. Awesome!
My favorite way to fish steelhead is inside seams...I'm more often than not running a fly through them with very good success. I am excited to use a bobber/worm set up on my fly rod. I am more comfortable casting with my fly rod and can be much more precise. That said it is all new for me and I very much appreciate videos like this.
There’s nothing I’d love to do more than go fishing with you guys and just fish all day... makes me jealous and wish my friends would go out and fish with me. You guys are awesome and I love every video, you’re guises tips and tricks are amazing. Keep up these videos there so fun to watch.
I've watched old timers catch fish 14" from the bank in chocolate milk sludge before, and I mean zero viziblity! I thought they were crazy until they pulled a fish in. This was out on the Wallowa river outside of LaGrande OR.
That was super kool how you were showing us and bam!!! Go's too show ..marlin knows wtf hes talking about lol good catch marlin more videos were this happens would be kool
Love the vids. Thank you guys for putting out great content. Learning new stuff all the time. I have watched over half of all videos now. Trying to get out myself.
Wish our water stayed that clear during high water. Our water in Cleveland turns to chocolate milk 🥴 that river looks epic though! Hope y’all had a great Christmas!
It helped me feel more confident in throwing worms hard this year!!! Thanks Marlin. Way to stud out and act like u were not shocked u hooked up lol. He was chrome. I'm mean she! Hermself
Awesome video! Fish on in one hand and still lecturing with the other, lol. Well done. I'd rather have high water and aggressive fish running than low water and spooked, picky eaters.
On my river we prefer the high water. Even then the water is still gin clear. Some of our other rivers we prefer it low. Just depends on the individual stream. Sick vid marlin!
Sometimes throwing a salad shrimp on with a worm or jig gets it done in high water. Nice little surprise fish during the tutorial! Bobber fishing = novice! Lol what is he talking about? Novice is not using all of your tools... Advanced is catching a fish whichever method works best for the conditions. Nice job Marlin!
I am trying to get setup for fishing for steelhead but cant buy everything at once. Do i start with waders and use my bass rods? Do you need at least an 8.5 foot rod or will a 7 foot rod pass for a while
Joeshmoe94 I can tell you from experience, boot waders are heavy , they work ,but you will to ! If you know what I mean , I gave my hodgemans away , they are just to much work ,and my friend threw his over hoe shoulder and one of the boots kicked m right in the nuts , I laughed and pointed fingers !
You have to do the same. But you might have to get more extreme with your presentation. Definitely bright colors such as chartreuse, Cherise. A lot of weight to keep,it pegged to the bottom. And then bait, such as spawn sacs, tube jigs tipped with wax worms. Everything I just mentioned is critical to success on high water days! Last I will give a mention to attitude. Don’t expect to have a 25 fish day. When the River is blown out. Good luck!!!!
I guess just like the sturgeon became extinct around here at one point we'll just Target all the other fish and kill them all to how about if you guys want fish get a pond stock it and grow your own
@@AddictedFishing ok thanks for the reply just wondering. Got a trip planned but we’re getting a week of rain (NorCal) starting Saturday not sure what to do. Just gonna keep an eye on the flows...
That was freakin awesome! My first year steelhead fishing. Haven't caught one yet. But very educational video Marlin! I'm addicted to watching all of the videos you guys put out. I appreciate that you guys put in so much of your time, to teach beginners like me how to get it done. Thanks everyone from addicted! 🌲🎣💯
It's December still, so it's very early! Last year was my first year ever fishing Steelhead and I ended up hooking close to 30 (most in March). Watch every addicted video/Facebook live you can find and take notes. Book a guided trip too. Then you'll be dialed in on your own!
@@georgeeccarius5721 Thanks man! I appreciate the input. I'm really determined to catch one! But with so many rivers and creeks, I'm lost on where to start lol. 1👍🎣💯
@@Sea-townRaisedOutdoors pick one within an hour or so and learn it. Super easy to get overwhelmed and chase reports. You won't hammer them by driving 2 hours to River A one day then to River B the next then River C because you heard it was fishing well. Just pick a spot you know has steelhead and learn it well at all flows! If you don't know where to fish take Cam's advice and do the 8am drive on a Saturday!
What would you rather fish? High Water or Low Water? 🤔
low water
Extra Low
Green medium water on the drop where they can't see me!
spot fishing is great. love it. gotta be in stealth mode. like hunting so awesome
I don't know what I prefer yet. Still trying to catch my first steelhead 🎣💯

Have had some of my best days in high muddy water. Love it because not many people fish when it's like that.

I used this same technique fishing at Menasa Dam. Fishing the seam produced a lot of catches.

Thanks man, I’ll be fishing the lewis river in washington. And will give this a try.
good stuff. like to see you cook n smoke and different recipes you or your friends may have!
Nice info Marlin and with a bonus even. One question though..... who’s the FKHEAD that gave this video a thumbs down 👎
love you guys hoping to step my game up this next year love all the tips and advice
Would drift fishing with a corky be an effective method to catch some winters in this highwater??? Thanks!
Thanks for the advice and sweet fish💥
Been practicing man thank you guys for all the help 🙏 love casting lines 🎣
Marlin buddy I really learn so much. where I fish deep water Niagara river and a harbour that is 15+ ft deep
Going to try to apply this to these VA bows
Nice vid like always.
Great video like always guys
Awesome video, I picked up some new tips👍
What beautiful color on that fish!
Just enjoy watching your videos..
On the floating bobber setup. Do you just remove the bobber stop and let it slide free along the whole line?
Do you typically fish quarter oz jigs in high water or smaller?
Awesome video! Fish on in one hand and still lecturing with the other, lol. Well done. I'd rather have high water and aggressive fish running than low water and spooked, picky eaters.
Great video! How do you know how deep to run in higher water especially if your on a newer river?
frickin exactly what i needed
I would rather fish any water as long as I’m fishing ! I’ve caught more on the drop from high water .
What size fixed float do you use for worms?
Addicted steelhead floats. They will come with a weight system to use different sized presentations. Available soooon!!
@@AddictedFishing Just found one at Sportsman's in Kelso.Actually two.I bought both.
😂😂😂 Marlin, your reaction like holy crap i actually got one. THATS HOW YOU DO IT he says. Good job lol
😂
Epic!! Perfect example video.
I do lots of plunking in high water with eggs or shrimp 🦐
Awesome how you hooked up while doing the tutorial! 💯👌
ya i concentrate on the soft water but i always fish the unlikely water before i move they tend to surprise you somtimes where there at
how do you determine how high to run your bobber stopper?
Brody Yaba Trail and error. Keep adjusting until your 8-10” off the bottom.
What kind of rod is that? Looking to get a good quality steelhead rod and that one looked pretty nice being all CF with Fuji real seats
I think they usually fish some kind of Okuma Guide Select Pro in 9.5ish foot length.
Okuma GSP 10’ 6” | 8-12 lb rating. | Okuma RTX 35 reel.
I don’t have any inline weight, what else can I use? And what’s the feet from bobber to hook?
On my river we prefer the high water. Even then the water is still gin clear. Some of our other rivers we prefer it low. Just depends on the individual stream. Sick vid marlin!
Nice job
Nice, that hat 🔥🔥🔥
Great tutorial.
Both work good for me as long as or fishing like fishing with eggs.
That was a great video
Try a bead on that sliding float setup marlin! 😂
Nice landing!!
What’s cracking Addicts. Love the videos homie.
why replace treble on spoon with a #2 hook? is this for snag problems?
Great video
What rod model are you using in this video
That’s a normal flow for our river any tips
For when water is dirty or muddy ? That would be very helpful

EXACTLY!
Cowichan river vancouver island ? Looks like it , if so this is a great steelhead, salmon , brown trout, cutthroat and rainbow trout river
Awesome!!
can you ever catch em on the retrieve with the spoon?
anthony tenorio You can, but in my experience not very successful. It does work sometimes though.
@@AddictedFishing thanks!
I've caught some browns during retrieve. Maybe they're just more aggressive than rainbows?
What line did you use? Braid to floro?
BigDreamin ! Braided mainline, fluro leader.
Nice job come fish the Smith river with me you and Jordan ✌️
I am trying to get setup for fishing for steelhead but cant buy everything at once. Do i start with waders and use my bass rods? Do you need at least an 8.5 foot rod or will a 7 foot rod pass for a while
Get your rod and reel first for sure
Then get a pair of rain boots
Are bootfoot waders a bad idea? You guys mostly have waders with hiking boots.
Regular waders are so much better!
Way ta go Mango...ya caught one while teachin how to read water 😁
Kinda took ya by suprise huh? Lol
Would a 6’6 extra light rod be fine for 10lb steelhead?
Greg Stringfellow little light I think
What about high, off color water?
Phil Hildebrand brighter colors and more scent
You have to do the same. But you might have to get more extreme with your presentation.

Ohio Lake Erie tributaries Right now we need that rain . we got no water fishing the steelies that we do see or just looking up laughing at us.
Guess it's time to go stand on the breakwall and Chuck spoons again into the lake go clio's go KO wobblers
I guess just like the sturgeon became extinct around here at one point we'll just Target all the other fish and kill them all to how about if you guys want fish get a pond stock it and grow your own
Is high water considered a blown out river or is blown out a whole other level?
Blown out would be brown & usually unfishable .

Where did you catch this fish on what river? In what state?
I really want to get into steelhead fishing I’m just not sure how to fish them I live on the coos river and see them just never can get them to bite
What river you guys fishing here??
Nice fish
Here in Oregon scent isn't considered bait but plastic worms and eggs are...
Holy shit I know that spot where the stream flows in I was just fishing there yesterday!
I'm gonna go with medium water.
High water all the way!
Is this a coastal river?
Michael Coleman no it’s not
