i cannot explain the grand effect this games has over our generation, you can see it if you look at the big picture. this game is not a book, it's a library from which we could learn. although i haven't ever played the game it's extremely visbile from the fan content that it's something you could consider revolutionay. if i ever play the game i'd research every term and word used in it🥲i'd probably completely ignore the fighting part lof it if i could ol

Blackness. The feeling of being weightless. Such is your only constant companion in the realm of slumber. Nights without dreams are moonless and without form. Even when you open your eyes, it makes no difference from when you had them closed. You wait for a good while, until something else besides you appears in the umbral expanse. There is a pause and a small rustle, like a gentle breath released from the firmament beyond the void’s horizon. A new nightmare, perhaps? You speak first.
“Who am I?”
“A disgrace to the Legacy of Greater Lord Rukkhadevata! You are but a mere child, incapable of ruling over Sumeru, much less directing the Akademiya!” The Grand Sage and his lackeys appear and then vanish into the pitch darkness once his response echoes past you.
“Is this true? Is this me?”
“I am sure this is not true,” Dunyarzad gently undoes the bandages around her arm as Dehya prepares her medication and a glass of water. Her Eleazar has spread more; black scale-like veins creep further up her arm up to her elbow. Even just the slightest movement of her arm now is an excruciating endeavor. “Lesser Lord Kusanali has always watched over me, and I know she always has my best interest at heart. This goes for all of Sumeru’s people, be they from the Desert, or the Forest.”
“I don’t doubt her, or your faith, My Lady,” Dehya gives Dunyarzad a good night kiss before looking longingly out her employer’s bedroom window at the looming shadow of the Wall of Samiel in the dusky distance. “I just wish… King Deshret and Rukkhadevata didn’t have to be enemies… my people can’t let go of that grudge.”
“We… We were enemies?” You try to recall, but only a faint, green glow returns your inquiry from the darkness. The glow gradually metamorphoses from serene teal, to a manic, blood-ruby red. The monotone voice of the Akasha terminal keeps repeating the same warning. The moment you feel like someone managed to reach out from the void and make contact with you… that same… dreadful warning. Back it returns like a bad penny.
*‘WARNING. MENTAL CONTAMINATION DETECTED.’*
You feel the hand of a man placed gently on your shoulder. It is partially gloved, and you feel a touch of smooth cool metal from the ring they are wearing on their thumb. You turn to face the last prince; he who glimpsed divinity.
“Who are you?”
“You pretend to forget me, Rukkhadevata.” Alhaitham momentarily returns your gaze. Without warning, the blackness enshrouding you is blown away by the turbulent winds of the Hypostyle Desert. The two of you stand side by side atop Deshret’s pyramid; not merely the child Kusanali, and the Scribe Alhaitham, but as Rukkhadevata, and the Scarlet King. Below, a most terrible sight writhes among the scarlet sands. The demise of a nation. He only wished to know more. To finally understand everything. But it only wrought death and destruction; the black tar, this forbidden knowledge, spread from that discovery into a plague. You remember… your last dance with him… He places a desert rose, the last treasure saved from his kingdom, in your hands with a tragic smile. “Save yourself, Rukkhadevata… Please. I opened Pandora’s Box. So I must be the one to close it.”
“NO!” You try to stop him from sacrificing himself, but you can only beg in vain. King Deshret… Alhaitham… vanishes into the darkness once more... Like clockwork, all falls silent again. “No…” A few of your teardrops float around you in the void, “We promised each other…” You clutch the desert rose he gave you even tighter now. So tight, your palms hurt from the sharp edges of its mineralized petals pressing into your skin. The expanse feels even colder than ever as you drift through the still darkness. Yet… you feel the warmth from the presence of another.
“His Highness would be glad to know you are alive and well.” Priest Kasala helps you up, handing you a silk handkerchief to wipe away the tears. You walk alongside him near Chinvat Ravine; its waters move forward and backward according to the whims of time “We cannot truly abandon the memory of King Deshret’s life.”
“But…” your words falter, “We have to make sure nobody can stumble upon this vile knowledge ever again… we can’t lose everything again…”
“You won’t lose anything, Lesser Lord Kusanali.” Rather than Priest Kasala, it is Cyno, who kneels down to assure you of his promise. “If man does not heed history, he is doomed to repeat it. Simply covering up the truth would only set us back to that fateful moment Pandora’s Box was opened. We must learn from our mistakes, so that we can live without regrets.”
“I… you’re right as always, General Mahamatra… Priest Kasala.”
“Not always,” he chuckles, “I would just like to think so. Here, this way,” he leads you along the river, further into the present. You stand in Sumeru, at the current time in its history. Bustling streets, markets and merchants as far as the eye can see; the scent of curry and freshly cooked rice clinging to the air.
“Do you know what it is that brings me great joy?” Nilou hands you a single Padisarah, the true Padisarah, vibrant and glorious in its full bloom of royal purple. The young woman leads you to a great stage, and begins dancing to the familiar tune ‘she’ used to perform for all to see. “Knowing I’m keeping the memory of the Sabzeruz Festival alive, so you can have the best birthday of all! You’ve done so much for us, Lesser Lord Kusanali.”
“Ah…” You smile for the first time in a long time. “I tried my best to bring them back but…” You give a bouquet of Padisarahs not to Nilou, but the Goddess of Flowers who dances in her stead, “I… never could get them to be the right color of purple you loved.”
She bows at your gift, accepting it graciously. “It is not about copying the past,” She hums, affixing a particularly gorgeous Padisarah blossom upon her horned crown, “But innovating for the future.”
“The future…” You awake once more. Now it would seem a star appeared in the dark expanse of your dreams, golden and bright, with a smaller, silver star floating alongside it. “A traveler from another world, here to save our future…” You reach for the dazzling pair of twinkling stars through the void and make your first declaration to the outside world. “I am just the moon. The real sun is long gone.”
