The characters lack texture details, the environment is bland and also lacks a lot of detail. The transition to 3D is the worst aspect of this new game by far. Not only that, but they lack life. Back in the old MS games characters made all kinds of comical faces, in this video they just open and close their mouths. Secondly what made MS great was the feeling of being overwhelmed at times and surpassing obstacles that seemed impossible to beat. Metal slug, a part of my childhood, like Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter... 20 years ago I was playing this kind of games with my best friend on PS2. RIP Brother you left me very early, and now i'm alone to play thoose fucking games who each one of them remind me that you are not here anymore.
I remember playing the arcade version of this game back in 1998 down here in Mexico. The "Maquinitas" were awesome because you played video games but you also were hanging out with your buddies.
What has always graced Metal Slug, first of all, was its incredibly interesting artwork. The second story was fierce shooting, fierce action that went from stage to stage. Comical enemies, comical situations, things out of nowhere...so it's not enough just to modernize the look, a lot more has to be done to see off the old glory of this game.
Player and enemy faces must have better expressions...for example, when model grabs a fierce weapon, you can feel it on the grimaces on his face...the enemy's grimaces,...he lacks physics in many things, even when he is fat, the laws of physics need to be changed and many other things.
@@diegorso2 I agree, and a lot of more needs to be done here, ama not much satisfied with what I see...that game was something incredible when I was a child and there was a good reason for it.

Used to play this game back in the day in a Taco shop here in San Diego. Had to buy the anthology for the PS2. The arcade cabinet also had other games you could choose like puzzle bobble which is also a classic for me 🙏
Got to love Metal Slug! I remember being on holiday and going to the arcades with a bag full of quids and 50ps given to me by my parents and the first arcade cabinet I found was Metal Slug, all my money went into it literally had so much fun! From there I was a fan of the Metal Slug series, has some of the best sprite design ever and such dope animation /enemy / friendly even the backgrounds and items had so much detail and style, you can spot a Metal Slug game a mile off, can't wait to play this and fingers crossed it is a new chapter for the series
Cmon, guys, it's been 26 years, time to give Metal Slug a good integrated 3rd person or FPS adaptation. So many crazy fast-paced FPS games with colorful graphics, Metal Slug would dominate that genre easily if made properly in its spirit.
Whenever I hit the pizzeria or the arcade, metal slug would effortless grab my attention and my quarters 😎 so glad to see the series get some more attention. Metal slug 3 was always my favorite for the zombies and aliens.
One of the first games I’ve ever played was metal slug back when I was little im 29 now and I recently was playing metal slug 5 one of my all time favorites im very happy it’s getting brought back from the vault and I’m definitely getting it if it comes to consoles
They gave a more modern twist on everything that made the series so special. It looks awesome. I just miss the voice of the original voice actor saying: C'MON BOI HAHAHAHA
I don’t know how I feel about this. They’ve clearly put a ton of work into making it true to the old style while transitioning to 3D. I feel like that old pixel art was what the series was known for though. It was the thing everyone remembered about the series. Without it there’s certainly a lot missing. Still, I don’t have any fundamental issue with modernising old classics and who doesn’t want more Metal Slug? Even though it’s missing the thing I loved most about the original, I’ll still give this one a go.
Interesting!! I love the old MS so much! However, I don’t know if it’s just me or perhaps other people feel it too…..But the animation is too smooth. The game tries to repeat that now classic look and feel of the original, and it’s missing that little lack of fluidity in animation to help make it feel more authentic to the original hand drawn classic and at the same time provide new content and stages with enemies at a grander scale. Just IMO. Still, this makes me feel nostalgic enough for the game I wanna play them again!
Hey Banden, I got something important to say. Metal Slug Attack is ending and the last OPS in the app game is going to end and then after that, there will be nothing else but the ending of almost all battle modes. Do you want to make a video about that?
Okay good to know, I’m only focusing on the last ops and after that’s over that’s it. No more msa for me. Fun fact: Metal Slug Defense is the game that got me into not only MSA, but also Battle Cats and then it got me into playing Crash Fever as well.
Looks very good to me. You can't really expect every new game based on an old property to sport classic 2D dot-pixel graphics. Sure, in a perfect world, you'd press a button and switch between the two on-the-fly... In the real world, a game this large, with hand drawn pixel graphics , on par with something like Metal Slug 3, would take animators several years of "development hell". This is why we see almost no modern games hit that bar. AND... I'd they were to attempt it.. And it looks slightly worse than a classic Metal Slug, the fans who wanted it, would go on and on about how it failed to look as good, or better than the original Slug games. I love classic dot-pixel animation.. More than any modern game, but you have to see it from the publisher/development side too. This is looking impressive for a modern game. The main thing for me is that it plays well, and is fun to play, without those things, it doesn't matter how pretty it looks. Oh, and if you want to hear about how hard the animators of the original Metal Slug games were pushed back in the day, I highly recommend reading Metal Slug: The Ultimate History book. It talks about how the original animator was working 16+ hour days, and sleeping under his desk. I won't give away the whole book, but it really makes you feel for the poor guy! The classic Metal Slug games had his heart and soul poured into them. That's why they look so damn good! God tier! **Oh, and if you are craving some of that classic look (combined with some 3D animation), keep an eye out for Black Finger JET, by some of the original NAZCA Metal Slug devs. It was teased years ago, and will come out...some time? :)
Extremely well done with this part, and congratulations, and i must say, you done amazingly wonderful as always, even if Early Game, you made a lot of progress, and when the main release comes out, i know you will go full action in the game. Keep doing a wonderful job.
seeing this old game with these new graphics makes me think both , "Thats wholesome" and also "Aw man is this now a pay to play mobile game?" hope not. is it? ok good coo. just checking.
Fio mains: "Take my money!" Love that the boss fights are MMO like, which would be really great with a party of 4, and weapon skin customization and upgrades! but the game needs to be gritty, with more field of depth and detailing. The old metal slugs had goofy models but the detailing made them seem realistic even though they were pixelated, I don't know, I just can't get my head around the in game 3D models being smooth and beveled. Edit: I think the old metal slugs were rated M? not sure, was too busy inserting coins.
love the way to see the game still have the same vibe with very earlier generation of this series... it just have graphic improvement, the rest is still the same, which is awesome!

Playing it nowdays, its a good game. The old ones were on PC and had two player games so me and my brothers used to play it all the time. I wish they have something for the playstation where two people can play together.
It sure looks beautiful, but IMO this should have stayed in 2D. How awesome it would be to have 4K 2D super detailed animations! I always loved MS for it's incredible details and it's certainly lacking here. And yes it looks amazing, but can't compare it to 2D version. Just like King of Fighters XII, where there are 500 animations per character....this would be a freaking blast! Anyone who played previous Metal Slug games must agree, how insanely detailed these games were and we can't really compare it to 3D. And what's with these stupid damage numbers?
In my personal opinion, the amazing pixel art animation from the original game was what was giving its big charm. Now moving into 3D, it lost its charm. Gameplay still looks amazing and fun though.
For me it still charming, it's good that they kept same game techs and animations

The presentation is awesome, gameplay seen to be really good, sound track is perfection BUT than start the mobile BS with drops and things that complete ruins the game... Imagine if they just went all out on graphics and maps to play and release to consoles and PC
That's just fantastic, when younger I spent hours playing this masterpiece... Nostalgic
Player and enemy faces must have better expressions...for example, when model grabs a fierce weapon, you can feel it on the grimaces on his face...the enemy's grimaces,...he lacks physics in many things, even when he is fat, the laws of physics need to be changed and many other things.
the models are a bit static, lifeless.
@@vanessadejanovic5244 100% agreed with you.
I would also add the level design with lots of secret items and secret paths
@@diegorso2 I agree, and a lot of more needs to be done here, ama not much satisfied with what I see...that game was something incredible when I was a child and there was a good reason for it.
God like. Happy to see SNK back in the fold as one of the world’s leaders in game design and development. Here’s to hoping we get an Ikari Warriors and Psycho Soldiers next! 🥳
Used to play this game back in the day in a Taco shop here in San Diego. Had to buy the anthology for the PS2. The arcade cabinet also had other games you could choose like puzzle bobble which is also a classic for me 🙏
YES. They brought back the burning soldiers animation, not completely, but they did.
The one from parachute lol. I hope all enemies burning do that animation then this game will be worth to try
I love to see the genre alive
I'm glad it's moved away from the pixel art and into 3D. Looking forward to playing this.
The cinematics in the min 4:12 is exactly what i want for a next gen Metal Slug. This game looks like fanmade game.
I like how there’s a rage mode. It adds a little more depth to the gameplay
Got to love Metal Slug! I remember being on holiday and going to the arcades with a bag full of quids and 50ps given to me by my parents and the first arcade cabinet I found was Metal Slug, all my money went into it literally had so much fun! From there I was a fan of the Metal Slug series, has some of the best sprite design ever and such dope animation /enemy / friendly even the backgrounds and items had so much detail and style, you can spot a Metal Slug game a mile off, can't wait to play this and fingers crossed it is a new chapter for the series
are you asian playing in asian arcade game?

It's metal slug 2? Lol
Cmon, guys, it's been 26 years, time to give Metal Slug a good integrated 3rd person or FPS adaptation. So many crazy fast-paced FPS games with colorful graphics, Metal Slug would dominate that genre easily if made properly in its spirit.
Wtf you talking about 3D? That thing already got 3D version in ps2 game you dummy
Whenever I hit the pizzeria or the arcade, metal slug would effortless grab my attention and my quarters 😎 so glad to see the series get some more attention. Metal slug 3 was always my favorite for the zombies and aliens.
That "Agghh!" 'DDdduaaghh!" never gets old man
Love it,hope would be avaliable on pc
One of the first games I’ve ever played was metal slug back when I was little im 29 now and I recently was playing metal slug 5 one of my all time favorites im very happy it’s getting brought back from the vault and I’m definitely getting it if it comes to consoles
I was hooked on Metal Slug because of the burning ❤️🔥 animations. First time seeing that as a kid in junior high 😮🤯
12:05, Senator Armstrong? 🤣
Muito bom, resgataram a franquia novamente
They gave a more modern twist on everything that made the series so special. It looks awesome. I just miss the voice of the original voice actor saying: C'MON BOI HAHAHAHA
Agree, or the original heavy machine gun voice also the sound when shooting it.
Now this is how you remaster a legendary game!!!
I grew up playing this game in the arcade. Soooooo many quarters for so many years
And we can't see the Ptolemaic or martians army In the game, probably will added though later.
Oh my gosh this remake looks completely amazing can't wait to get my hands on it just look at that!
cant wait for this to come to switch
I don’t know how I feel about this. They’ve clearly put a ton of work into making it true to the old style while transitioning to 3D. I feel like that old pixel art was what the series was known for though. It was the thing everyone remembered about the series. Without it there’s certainly a lot missing. Still, I don’t have any fundamental issue with modernising old classics and who doesn’t want more Metal Slug? Even though it’s missing the thing I loved most about the original, I’ll still give this one a go.
This 100% should’ve been an HD2D game like Octopath traveler at the very most
Interesting!! Just IMO. Still, this makes me feel nostalgic enough for the game I wanna play them again!
a game full of memories and one of the games that won't bore you after harvest moon back to nature 🥰🥰🥰
56:12 「嗨一媽性感」as a shop sign
that's how players call "heavy machine gun" in mainland China in a fun way
WHAAAAATTT OMG IT IS REMIND OF OLD METAL SLUGGING!! BUT IT LOOK SUPERB!!!!!! WHAT A AMAZING GAME!!!
This looks cool actually. What!?
All the new models and animation looks sick
"You know what Metal Slug needs? A conversion to 3D and a narrative!" said no fan ever. Still, it looks pretty fun. I'll cross my fingers.
Hear hear😂
I love the old style MS games, but this new generation MS looks incredible
Metal Slug being revived as gacha for mobile games just hurts my poor soul, even though the game is actually pretty fun.
Extremely well done with this part, and congratulations, and i must say, you done amazingly wonderful as always, even if Early Game, you made a lot of progress, and when the main release comes out, i know you will go full action in the game.
Keep doing a wonderful job.
this is my fav game so I hope it’s just takes a long time to finish the game
@@thenamelessoner I am sure many who know of Metal Slug greatly enjoy this one, i am sure Banden will put major effort into this walkthrough.
Yes
but its much easier than the original, easy games are boring to play.

Allen O Neil’s laugh is modern yet acceptable regardless of questionable version.
It doesn't seem like the projectiles don't project as being "dangerous" in this style. Like they don't stand out as much or something
seeing this old game with these new graphics makes me think both , "Thats wholesome" and also "Aw man is this now a pay to play mobile game?" hope not. is it? ok good coo. just checking.
Looks like a lot of fun, nostalgic and new at the same time
good old days
8:36 This is a mobile game approved for kids.
Bruh, it should be like 13+ or more for the cleavage.
Fio mains: "Take my money!"
Love that the boss fights are MMO like, which would be really great with a party of 4, and weapon skin customization and upgrades! but the game needs to be gritty, with more field of depth and detailing. The old metal slugs had goofy models but the detailing made them seem realistic even though they were pixelated, I don't know, I just can't get my head around the in game 3D models being smooth and beveled.
Edit: I think the old metal slugs were rated M? not sure, was too busy inserting coins.
Memories Just Golden Memories.
Metal slug it's always awesome
love the way to see the game still have the same vibe with very earlier generation of this series... it just have graphic improvement, the rest is still the same, which is awesome!
I kinda like it… I just hope they didnt make it easier. Metal Slug is a coin eating arcade
I didn't expect Eri to be laughing like a Female Joker or something
Specially she’s more onto grenades lol
I like the gameplay update I don't mind the visuals and I am very suspicious and extremely resentful of the online features, possible ingame currency and gear score.
I kinda miss that classic
“RAWKET LAAWNCHUH!”
But I’m still getting this, no doubt!

very good... lucky they did not go 3d... it would be a nightmare flop... this is nice
Playing it nowdays, its a good game. The old ones were on PC and had two player games so me and my brothers used to play it all the time. I wish they have something for the playstation where two people can play together.
if this game was multiplayer on a handheld , like how i can play classic one on my anbernic, it would be so cool to do online coop
Any anthology owners?
Android, PC, Xbox series xs, one y ps5
Looks like a mobile phone game
There needs to be an option to turn off the numbers showing damage to what I assume is the boss's HP
I still wish they would make a full blown rts game on pc a mix of supreme commander 2 and starcraft maybe one day
It sure looks beautiful, but IMO this should have stayed in 2D. And what's with these stupid damage numbers?
the game that you would mainly play at any lavenderia in LA
i miss those days
this will bring memories back. can't wait for official release on mobile or PC.
I hope this is not just an app game will hit PS4 or Steam at some point.
It doesn’t look bad at all but the pixel game we used to have was better nostalgic
Metal Slug Awakening is fan service to NOSTALGIA
No blood, no gore? "Look how they massacre my boy..."
The classic will always be the best..
Not the same without the amazing pixel graphics.
Main characters animations looking like steven hawking in a bio-suit without a drool bib. I'll stick with the original.
