As a kid I lusted after this in the RS catalogs. Couldn't think of a practical use for it, but still wanted it. Forty years later and I still don't have a use for it, but still want one. LOL
You are correct! I checked gain and it is reading about 1.2mF, i.e. 1200 uF. The ESR was about 0.1ohm (perhaps a bit high). I'm a bit suspicious of an old cap that is 150% of its uF rating but I have seen some that were rate at +80 / -20%. So, perhaps if I had realized that the meter was showing mf not uF I might not have pulled it out. Since I have already ordered a new one, I'll go ahead and install it though. I'll point out in the next video that you uncovered my mistake though. Thanks.
Can't wait for next installment of this serial story when the plotter thickens!

I don't really have a use for it either, but it is cool...
I *really* love plotters, maybe one day I'll get one. Thanks for showing it!
I know it was not in your options, but would love to see at C64 or Amiga drive the plotter.
That is such a nicely made plotter! I’d like to see it connected to a 4P. Is that plotter from 1982?
It was in the 1982 RSC6 Computer Catalog and 1983 general catalog for just under $2,000.
I wouldn't substitute that big cap before testing it under real DC bias, sometimes they just need some time to reform. But I'm sure you know that.
I did try reforming it, but it was not successful.
It looked like your meter was reading milliFarads - "mF", or does it use that instead of "uF"?
