Why are journalists always so excited about vehicles that hardly get a rise out of actual buyers? EVs are decades away from being true all-rounders and are nothing more than ultra-expensive commuter cars. Dude, you drive this car like a Porsche on a remote mountain pass in Canada, good luck finding a charger that will take you back. A total waste of money. Buy the cheaper ICE version. It sounds better and will always get you home. Journalists are out of touch with the reality the rest of us live.
You can get new Model 3 Performance for 1/2 this and it has a tax incentive on top of that. NOT a commuter car. If you hate EVs that's cool. I'm sure the folks in their horse buggys hated the car too.
@@TennesseeFanatic1 Don't hate them. As mentioned, no wide-spread charging network in Canada. Distances are very great here. I only see EVs, mostly Tesla's, in and around town. Very few when I'm on road trips. The tech and infrastructure is still too immature for EV to be a practical choice here. This is why I say journalists are out of touch with the reality the whole world lives in, as opposed to the privileged few. They try to appease the manufacturers to stay in their good books, but that does an actual consumer a disservice.
@@dash-ryan Fair enough... Although my wife just came back from visiting her mother in the Surrey/Vancouver area and she said the number of Teslas reminded her of when we lived in San Diego.
@@TennesseeFanatic1 Yes, Vancouver for sure because they like to copy the California lifestyle and have a similar government that promotes green living. You'll see quite a few in Toronto and Montreal. The major population centers. However, the rest of Canada is sparely populated and massive in geography. You'll see a far different story in Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, or the far north like the Yukon or North West Territories. In those northern regions, an EV would be a total fail, if you're not laughed out of the town first. Just saw an article that Canadians have reduced their buying of EVs in the past year, mainly because the reality of owning one is not as straight-forward as the media would like us to believe. Add to that, India, Africa, parts of eastern Europe, Russia and MIddle East, with a large and poor population, the infrastructure to support EV's is decades behind. Electricity is a luxury in many places, yet access to fossil fuel is in abundance. I've spent years researching this because I'm a technical person. It probably has something to do with the fact that gasoline contains 47MJ/kg of energy compared to a measly 0.3MJ/kg in a battery pack. So, something revolutionary has to occur with EV tech for the world to adopt it as the primary mode of transportation. Not to dissimilar to the accessibility and capability that smartphones had on the world. So, I'd love to own an EV, but in the world I live, it's simply not a practical choice and, quite frankly, I'm quite tired of EV owners looking down on the rest of us because of it, especially from the rich who think they are doing the world some good. So I bought a Red Mist Metallic C8 Corvette Stingray Convertible and rev the engine when I pass our local Tesla dealership. Needless to say, I always get noticed. 😄

@@leok7193huh? You made the claim that weight would make the air suspension more expensive to maintain. *the macan ev is the same weight as the ICE cayenne.* The ICE cayenne has one of the most reliable air suspension on the consumer market (~100k miles).
It costs $3k to replace the air suspension, if it came to that. It’s also covered under Porsche extended warranty ($4k for 100k miles/10 years)🤦♂️
👏 looks great
There's no doubt this car is improved, But anyone can agree Gas model macan's are definitely better looking, specially the back of the car.
100% agree the gas macan looks better especially the back. I was hoping they would make the electric macan look just like the gas macan but just make the front look more aggressive and less Beatle like kind of like the new cayenne
I would love a lower Macan sized sedan / sportback version. Why are these cars either freaking tall or long?
Unmatched driving experience
I love my model X but definitely like the specs of the Mecan EV. I would consider trading in my X for this if I was in the market for a replacement.
This makes the mini van X look pre historic.
Why would they add 3” to the EV version only just to favor the EV version instead of both. Stupid. I haven’t driven an EV that’ll make me forget about the ICE.
It won't though, will it?
Macan EV is powered by Chinese battery since Porsche doesn’t have EV technology, and it’s priced $100k.
Lilac time
That is so much better than any Tesla, which are so stale and yesterday. It's easy to add raw power to EVs, the Chinese are doing it every day to their crappy cars. It's another thing to have great handling/ride and to create an awesome HUD.
Except the new Model 3 Performance is 1/2 the cost of this and still gets a tax incentive.
Nailed it for 100K plus????
He got the gold plated nails of course .
Now the 911 will sell more than this Macon
It won’t when we get the insurance quotes, when we replace the tires every 10k miles, when the range drops depending on the weather and so forth.
Yup, my EV loses 40% range in freezing temps lol
Just an observation. You look really cramped in the drivers seat wow. You have no leg room. Your knee is rubbing on the centre console area at all times. That’s really bad.
I have tesla and porsch Mecan EV will be my next car to drive. Tesla riding quality is very very low and it is very uncomfortable and inconvenient. I guess it will take another 30 years for Trsla to understand that the speed is not eceryrhing
tesla has bad build quality too
I want know how the base Macan EV drives, not the Turbo.

Purple interior 🫠
The color options on this are very strange...
Buy a used one in 3 years for 35% of its MSRP🤣Seriously, it's too late and too expensive. As a Macan GTS and Model Y owner, I have a hard time loving this Macan EV.
Is it me or it looks similar to the Volkswagen ID4?
Chinese battery. What else needs to be said?
nahhhhhhhhh
the gas one is slower yes, but way more fun
that ev face lift in the front make it look stupid too
They only build these EV's bethe depreciation on them is insane. People lose thousands on them every week and the resale value is pointless but the car companies make their dollar straight up so.they don't give a ....
It’s in a class by itself.💯 If Lucid nails Gravity’s infotainment and driver assist gear I would lean that way if I wanted the perfection of efficiency over the perfection of performance. Only because, honestly, I have a copilot that reminds me of US speed limitations so range would be used 100% of the time over performance for those low percentage solo runs. 😉 13:26
No EV for me .,
Too small
No, no it won't. The only thing an electric can make you forget is a city commuter.
Terrible. He literally showed stock photos.
every old saying from my parents always rings true: all the glitters isnt gold. anyone insured one? please let us know. and please dont sell in cold climates.
Why shouldn’t they sell in cold climates exactly?
Shhh don't say that 😂
I have a 200 miles range Nissan Leaf in rural Midwest USA and have had a great experience! Almost no city miles most weeks. People saying that you can’t live with an ev in the US are gaslighting people.
Insurance is marginally more than my 10 year old Prius.
@@guy420manbecause they lose roughly 30 to 40 % of their usual range plus the charge times would be a lot slower in cold weather
5,300 lbs. curb weight. That's too overweight for a Porsche.
All electrics are heavy, theres no way around it
@@Rumblingbelly Not even true. The Roadster 2008 was lighter than Ferrari Enzo and the Porsche Carrera GT. The Model 3 RWD weighs 3,800 lbs. Model Y RWD weighs 4,100 lbs. Model S Dual Motor weighs 4,500+ lbs. The Macan EV is a whale. Porsche is a sports car maker, not a luxo-barge manufacturer.

Looks like great car for women. Not fast as you have to charge it

Porsche build amazing, desirable cars, but they are really smoking crack with these prices. Eighty thousand United States Dollars for a car that requires you to pay another $4,000 to get:
Premium Package
Includes:
Power Seats (14-way) with Comfort Memory
BOSE® Surround Sound System
LED-Matrix Design Headlights
Ventilated Seats (Front)
Heated Seats (Rear)
Advanced 4-Zone Climate Control
You have been bought for sure.
Nope. Prefer ICE for a five minute fuel up, instead of a hour charge.
I can charge at work or home genius, clearly ignorant of how evs work.
Us EV owners prefer to charge at home, which is more convenient
I have a 200 miles range Nissan Leaf in rural Midwest USA and have had a great experience! Almost no city miles most weeks. I drive 50-100 miles most days. I’ve only had it use public charging twice in 9 months. And both times were quick and manageable. People saying that you can’t live with an ev in the US are gaslighting people.
it’s rare to charge anywhere but home, which is much more convenient than 10 minute fill up at a gas station.
Why r u watching a electric car video?
Car looks great but it’s electric. I absolutely can’t stand electric cars. I’ll stick with my petrol Macan and buy a competitors car when it’s time to replace it. I refuse to buy into this electric garbage.
You know refrigerators used to be kerosene powered before they became electric ? When was the last time you saw a gas powered fridge ? Welcome to the New Age.
You want your cellphone to be gas powered too ? 😢😂
Nope - an EV Porsche is not a Porsche. The soul of the brand is gone.
It's a better vehicle than the ICE version, you may not like that
It sounds crap 💩.
Our 2016 GTS sounds ace..
Had it for 6 years..
Sorry Porsche if I’m going to buy a EV it’s going to be Toyota..
stupidest move ever to goes all EV with Macan which was best selling Porsche vehicle last year as ICE car!! number of 88000+ Macans and as EV it will be much less but they hope of tax payers money to save porsche and VW from such a stupid moves
agree
I love Porsche but sorry 😔 Porsches future as much as it’s got to be ev😮.
It’ll be the end of the brand.
So sad 😢
They’re still making the ICE.
This EV hits the bullseye.
A stupendous engineering feat.

Sign me up for 2
Porsche copied the Model Y Performance 🤣
