    The electric Macan improves on the gas models in pretty much every way. Porsche isn't just offering a Macan with a new powertrain; it has produced a better Macan with more performance and an interior with fewer compromises. Which vehicle are you excited to see get the EV treatment next? Let us know in the comments below.

      Bit of a rant... lol
      9:00 as the wireless charger is not Qi2 it will limit iPhone charging to 7.5 watts (some Android phones may peak at 15 W). Apple errs on the side of caution by forcing a 7.5 watt charging limit for Qi wireless chargers, whereas the new Qi2 magnetic standard ratified at the end of 2023 adds additional hardware and firmware safety features allowing for more robust 15W charging (iPhone and Android).
      Hopefully car makers can pull their finger out and begin adding Qi2 magnetic charging pads to their cars pushing Android makers to adopt the new standard.
      Qi2 adds a hidden ring of magnets providing perfect charging alignment and hold. iPhone 12 and later are supported, and any new Android phones that add Qi2. Qi2 is 15 watts at its fastest point on the charging curve (iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini are limited to 12 watts).
      Thanks to its certified minimum magnetic strength Qi2 is especially suitable for moving vehicles and affords car makers creative opportunities for charging pad locations, such as, for example, vertically on your dashboard, or on the backs of seats for rear passengers to avail of effortless charging. Adding Qi2 pads to such locations as these has the potential to clear up interior cabin space and improve storage potential.

    looks great, although check the porsche forums, their build quality isn't what it once was. Taycans have persistent interior fit and finish issues, rattles, etc. That's acceptable in a cheap car, but not in a porsche. I have no problem with the EV aspect and I love driving EVs. But Porsche just isn't building great vehicles lately. Tons of reports of electrical failures, HVAC issues, all kinds of things...it's all on the forums. Leasing a base Macan 4 isn't a bad deal. Similar performance to a Macan S and even the price is pretty close. Aside from the weight gain, it is quite nice and a 95KWH usable battery pack should deliver a real world 275+ miles of highway range at 70-75mph which is excellent.
    Still the price is too high. I'd rather have a the Ioniq 5 N for this price. Offers a lot of tech/performance/convenience in this car minus the air suspension, and luxury materials/feel. On the other hand it is way more fun to drive and arguably looks more cool.

Only because, honestly, I have a copilot that reminds me of US speed limitations so range would be used 100% of the time over performance for those low percentage solo runs. 😉 13:26

    Why are journalists always so excited about vehicles that hardly get a rise out of actual buyers? EVs are decades away from being true all-rounders and are nothing more than ultra-expensive commuter cars. Dude, you drive this car like a Porsche on a remote mountain pass in Canada, good luck finding a charger that will take you back. A total waste of money. Buy the cheaper ICE version. It sounds better and will always get you home. Journalists are out of touch with the reality the rest of us live.

    • @TennesseeFanatic1
      @TennesseeFanatic1 6 месяцев назад +1

      You can get new Model 3 Performance for 1/2 this and it has a tax incentive on top of that. NOT a commuter car. If you hate EVs that's cool. I'm sure the folks in their horse buggys hated the car too.

    • @dash-ryan
      @dash-ryan 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@TennesseeFanatic1 Don't hate them. As mentioned, no wide-spread charging network in Canada. Distances are very great here. I only see EVs, mostly Tesla's, in and around town. Very few when I'm on road trips. The tech and infrastructure is still too immature for EV to be a practical choice here. This is why I say journalists are out of touch with the reality the whole world lives in, as opposed to the privileged few. They try to appease the manufacturers to stay in their good books, but that does an actual consumer a disservice.

    • @dash-ryan

      @@TennesseeFanatic1 Yes, Vancouver for sure because they like to copy the California lifestyle and have a similar government that promotes green living. You'll see quite a few in Toronto and Montreal. The major population centers. However, the rest of Canada is sparely populated and massive in geography. You'll see a far different story in Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, or the far north like the Yukon or North West Territories. In those northern regions, an EV would be a total fail, if you're not laughed out of the town first. Just saw an article that Canadians have reduced their buying of EVs in the past year, mainly because the reality of owning one is not as straight-forward as the media would like us to believe. Add to that, India, Africa, parts of eastern Europe, Russia and MIddle East, with a large and poor population, the infrastructure to support EV's is decades behind. Electricity is a luxury in many places, yet access to fossil fuel is in abundance. I've spent years researching this because I'm a technical person. It probably has something to do with the fact that gasoline contains 47MJ/kg of energy compared to a measly 0.3MJ/kg in a battery pack. So, something revolutionary has to occur with EV tech for the world to adopt it as the primary mode of transportation. Not to dissimilar to the accessibility and capability that smartphones had on the world. So, I'd love to own an EV, but in the world I live, it's simply not a practical choice and, quite frankly, I'm quite tired of EV owners looking down on the rest of us because of it, especially from the rich who think they are doing the world some good. So I bought a Red Mist Metallic C8 Corvette Stingray Convertible and rev the engine when I pass our local Tesla dealership. Needless to say, I always get noticed. 😄
