- 1981 a musician by the name of Terry Cashman, who was a huge baseball fan, wrote a song and changed the lyrics for every baseball club in the majors. The melody was the same but the story is different for each club. This is the Twins version, I added images of the Twins back in their glory years.
It was because of my Aunties and Dad that I loved ball! Still do? No one asked ....but my mom showed me how to look good doing it!😊
What a great video I grew up at the metropolitan stadium in Bloomington Minnesota as a young child and at Met center with the North Stars boy them were the days I'll tell you what........ Hundreds and hundreds of games.
Ah yes the old Met , my best babysitter ever ! Hanging out for knothole games was the best along with the twi-light doubleheaders.....oh and who can forget the TCF money tree that was worth $25 thousand dollars if you could hit it with a moon shot in right field ........Tony O , Harmon , Rod , Caesar , kitty Kaat , mudcat, Jim Perry, Rich Reese , Al worthington , Earl Batty , Danny Ford ,Rich Rollins ,Tiant, Bostock etc ..........wow haven't thought about alot of them guys in years ........great memories that will never be forgotten !
I was watching batting practice from the left field bleachers at met stadium, I think I was only 5 years old, Killer hit a long ball and it hit the bleacher in front of me just missing. Never forgot that. Those are great memories…….
I’m a Mets fan but this was very well done. #Respect
My grandpa is Gary gaetti # g man
Those were the days!
wow does this song take me back!
The Killer! What a badass nickname. I got to meet him at the dome once when I was eleven cause he noticed I was wearing a Senators jersey. He said "A Senators jersey, haven't seen one of those in a while." Go Twinkies!😃⚾
Check the grammar. Honestly, it is horrible! My man has better grammar than you .
Target field now
Love this song.
They should update it,make it longer and have Maurer and Target field in it.
Yes - last chorus could sing, "then there was Mauuuuerr, with his contract we were screwed"
@@thestratton Yeah because the Twins have really put things together since Mauer retired. Blaming his contract is one of the laziest scapegoats I've ever heard. He was worth every penny when that contract was offered. If he would have taken a deal, most likely for more money, with the Yankees, his name would be mud in this town. Quit hanging the failures of the Twins franchise on Joe Mauer. Just enjoy another early off season. Maybe that's Joe's fault too? What a joke.
Cool to find - I remember them playing this in the early days of the Metrodome if they lost after the game
The Metrodome isn't even around anymore. The Twins moved out of it so the Vikings could play in it. Then, snow caved in and they had to tear it down and replace it with US Bank Stadium.
Thank you for sharing this, and I love the video you added! Did this song get updated at some point later in the 80s? We grew up with this song on an old 45 that had this song and We're gonna Win Twins on one side, and the Minnesota Gopher Rouser on the other. But this song had more of the 80s players in it, and at the end, instead of singing "Metro, Metro, Metro" they sang "Kirby, Kirby, Kirby" and "Bruno, Bruno, Bruno," and "G-man, G-man, G-man", if I remember correctly...
Yes I believe it did, I do remember that version as well. When I did a search for the song (six years ago) I only came up with this the original version. Don't know if the updated version is on line.
I definitely had this version you're describing on vinyl. I think it was even a giveaway from a game.
I know I live in Philadelphia but I still like tony
We're talkin' Hrby, TK and Kirby!
Talkin baseball Twins baseball
pretty cool
Then comes the metrodome and Target Field
Parody 2.
Bostock death just as tragic as Danny Thompson
I’d say Bostock was more Tragic as he was murdered and Thompson was suffering from leukemia.
Well Mr. Burns had done it, The power plant had won it. With Roger Clemens clucking all the while.
