I've been looking at this product for a couple of months. The saw blade simply scared me but after watching this video I liked what I saw. Still scared but not nearly as bad. If I don't get this for Christmas then I think I've found my next purchase. Thanks!

I know we discussed this back on your previous trimming video. We have the herd boss that came with 2-3 of the chain blades, I've also added a couple of the discs for the same reason as you. For my breeding herd they may not look as polished but they are trimmed down to where they need. The inside of the hoof was always difficult to get trimmed down correctly with shears. I didn't realize that this was Dewalt powered as I have the 120v corded. I believe there's places online that make adapters from other brands to dewalt etc, that may be a future purchase. Also that plastic piece is a new addition, I'm not crazy about it compared to the detent pin used to hold the shaft, however, I believe that's what failed on mine. I just had ours repaired after two years of use.

This is a must have farm tool for everyone. Easy to change grinders and the animals (goat, sheep, horse) didn't mind the boss. Please tie up horse tail. Always wear clear glasses. The chunks of hoof do go flying so keep little one away. Please wear gloves or a glove on the hand holding the hoof and leaters or atleast pants. Don't be foolish, this grinded will get you eventually. I always have a sanitary pad on hand. They don't stick to wound when coagulation starts. Only use on horns if absolutely necessary, normally no one grinds horns!!!! My Hoof boss was submerged in a 5 gallon and i dried it by hanging it up by the woodstove and it still worked. Wonderful tool and a time and back and best of all money saver. Be your own boss today

Ive been looking at this for my sheep. It looks like a great tool for polishing hooves for show but it seems like the long way to get around a short problem. When you have white line separation (blow out) like on the second hoof you can fill it in with some ‘Bovi Bond’ that fills cracks to keep dirt, rocks and ice out of the cavity and stops infection from starting or cracking the hoof and causing lameness. The hoof grows out and the glue wears off in about 6 weeks. I often will put a thin wafer of hard rubber over it and shape it to the proper shape. I can see a use for it but it looks so much slower that my manual tools. Plus if you add in batteries for 400 animals…..it would take all the lithium in China and a second mortgage on my sheep shears to afford it!

The anaerobic bacteria coming out of the goats foot is the reason the flies start swarming. It is usually black in color.

I love that the hoof boss website is like “use gloves and chaps or long pants” and you are like Hold my beer, I got this 😂😂

I'll need a dozen of the blade retaining screws

My dad is 87 years old and he has a goat that has severely overgrown hooves. Will this tool work for overgrown feet?

  • @Montegrl

I used this tool but after only eight trims the internal gears were shredded. Poorly put together and too small for it's use.
