Didn’t know that folding the remaining wing in gives more maneuverability when ones missing, I always self destruct when that happens

It's not perfect, but it'll likely be enough to get you out of a bad situation and to a pad where you can repair.
its similar to Khatu al but reverse if you fold khartu al for landing and you are missing an engine on one side (pray not to have 2 lost on one side) the ship will go nuts as soon s you add some thrust so i just usually arrive near a station and exit it into space an just fly to a pad on my own because otherwise it will smash me into station
I've tried twice but both times my ship kept spinning faster and faster, even on decoupled. It looks like the thrusters on remaining wing still try to compensate the missing ones.
3.13 modified something and now this trick doesn't work

I honestly did not know how fun bounties could be until I started with my Talon. I can clear 5-6 VHRT before I need to repair. Simply put, it's amazingly fun to fly.

I don't mind the shrike in its current state, considering the way missiles work will change. Heard in another video how missle specific ships will function in their own unique way as time goes on, so looking forward to what CIG have in mind surrounding that.
Additionally, I love the slow cockpit entry. The way you are lifted into a confined, armoured nest as you watch yourself get locked in as a joystick section surrounds you, as the viewport opens with the coolest engine startup noise I have ever heard, getting in and out of this thing is a joy, makes you feel badass.
I enjoy more atmospheric/artsy things like the details in the metal, the sounds of the thrusters as the sunset on daymar dimly shines it's orange hue on my fluorescent wings, so I care less about getting in and out quick and what does the most damage. I'll wait till the game has more working functionality before the numbers become important.
Yup, keeping my Shrike as SubliminaL review might go outdated in a couple of patches. It's not too bad for PvP as locking missiles is super fast and overwhelming for your target. Also, its speed saved my ass after being attacked by some skilled players many times. Gladius just can't catch up.
I think, while the base talon is a "solo" ship in the sense you can have it out there on its own, the Shrike very much is meant to be in a pack - it's the finishing move, but it has to have other ships to set up that last hit.
Even though I wouldn't say I'm a massive star citizen player, I play for a fee weeks and move on to something else and end up coming back a few months down the line.
With that said, you videos have helped me to go end. Informative and to the point and very statical. Keep up the good work and thank you :)

I got both and bought the Shrike purely for anti-fighter defense for when i accompany capitol ships.. & the Talon for dogfighting.

As a Shrike owner, I find that the combination of missiles and stealth work great. It's not an aggressive dogfighter like the base model. The main problem I've run into is the bugs which impact it - missiles can stop working at random, leaving you stuck with only the guns, and it's common to be unable to restock ammunition at stations. Even though CIG has managed to stop canopies from opening at random, it's obvious that they didn't stop the underlying cause, as the canopy will still blackout from time to time; which is disorienting in a dogfight.
For guns, have you thought about putting a pair of size 2 shotguns as backup weapons?
@@sigil5554 I hadn't, but that's not a bad idea. Once they fix missiles, I'll only need guns for close-in fighting, and scatterguns might be a good fit. A Shrike built for stealth doesn't have a long life span in a dogfight, so alpha damage might be more important than dps.
@@kilozulu2413 I haven't used the Shrike in solo PvP yet, but that's what I've got set up. Thus weekend, I plan on getting committed into dogfights instead of staying on the edge.
I'm gonna upgrade my gladius to a shrike because if I wanted to use a regular talon I'd be better off keeping my gladius lol, way better.

one of my favorite things to do in the Talon is drag racing (yes). the AFB is just nuts. i have friends that have Gladius, Arrow, titan, Sentinel, M50, razor, and 85x. there is nothing out of those that can keep up with the acceleration that the Talon is capable of. its almost comical how quickly you can get away from people. With your recommended loadout i was able to duel a Sentinel, and keep him from hitting me, all while poking him softly with C-788's. Its a blast to fly. GREAT at PVE bounty missions, and relatively cheap (in game).
I remember before the rework the 300i had crazy acceleration. And acceleration is Key.
I don't even usually do combat but after watching this video, the Talon is looking pretty good.

Its sad that the karthual is legit useless now. Talon > karthual in every way :( I love my talon but the karthual design and sound is just insane
The Karthual is pretty old while the Talon brand new. It'll certainly get a rework.
If not sooner, sure for when the San-tok-yài becomes flight-ready.

Agreed. Not sure how they could buff the Khar . They already added size 4 weapons... Maybe some size 2s?

@@SubliminaLstv I think they should actually give it two size three guns again, but give it very good shields and much better agility. My main issue with the khartu is that it flies about the same as an arrow, which makes no sense at all. It isn't supposed to be a heavy fighter. It is supposed to be an extremely agile light fighter made by a race that prefers shield strength over hull strength. I say 2 size 3 gun hardpoints, three shield generators, and nearly instant directional changes. I think they should really open up the thrust angles of the engines to help with that, including rotating completely around to kill forward momentum. The way the engines and agility are currently implemented seem contrary to the purpose of the ship.
I equipped the Talon with full stealth components and got its EM down to the mid hundreds range and the IR to 3900. Without using afterburners, weapons etc a vanguard is able to spot me from about 4800m. I tested that a few times.
your lucky you are getting PVE bounty missions. I haven't had one in ages. Thanks fir the review, the Talon sounds great.
I got into a party with some dudes from the server I was on and after he shared his bounties with me I got bountys again.

There is a workaround to fix bounties. It's a problem with the reputation system not being reset when your character is reset, manually or as part of a patch. The results in not receiving the missions you need from Hurston and Crusader to receive their bounties. >>IT IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH THE BOUNTY HUNTER GUILD OR THEIR CERTIFICATIONS.

@SubliminaL soo I've been wanting to try my hand at PVE ship-pewpewing... Stuck between Talon Core (as opposed to base I agree it's a disservice to call it that), Sabre Comet, Hawk and Vanguard Harb or Sent.. any input would be appreciated. Personal thoughts so far is I'm leaning towards the Sabre or Talon.. much as I do like the idea of the Harbander or Sentinel, kinda don't like that proprietary nose gun.. Now I tend to prefer energy canon or repeaters over ballistic as I dislike being dependant on amo, but there are some heavy hitting ballistic cannon options that look fun... pair of C788 ballistic cannons with that exploding shell deal? or how bout Gimbaled Mass drivers or Turtantual cannons?

Later you will be able to shoot a lot more missiles at the same time. Because of the in hull launcher. It will be a hell of a swarm killer.

got one of these after I got killed by it 20 times by other players who were flying it. picked it up through a Gladius upgrade to Talon for about $20 on Star-Hangar.
also you said the talons a light-fighter, but its really just a regular fighter, buuut I'm just nitpicking. nice work on the video -_^
I think the shrike is intended for and will excel at striking ground targets like bases and Balistas (which have size 0 radars). IIRC the brochure for the Talon/Shrike references this
Arrow user here, thought about upgrading to the Shrike bc the colors and design is sexy as hell but it sounds more like a downgrade at this point. Prob gonna just get the Sabre ingame instead. Thanks for being so informative!!

I really did like the ballistic cannons on the Talon....without as much de-sync it could be a pretty dirty little toy for bounty hunting, ambushing or even flying support. The Attritions are probably better for now.

A Shrike is great to bring along on the Idris mission, Have the Shrike lead off with its' missiles with an Eclipse or Retaliator firing just after. Idris will be busy trying to shoot down the Shrike's missiles meaning the torps have free runs to the target.

rewatched this video again before invictus just to make sure that i will switch shrike for base if there will be a chance because current missile situation is crap and s2 guns are thrash as hell though i used to like them a lot
Yeah I'd switch it for sure. Even if the missile rework helps the talon is still a great dogfighter.

the talon is so awesome to fly,,,the movements are crazy good,,but ive made lots more money in my 2million uec harbinger just a size 5 attrition and 4 distortion cannons ,,simple and cheap,,but the talon is great to fly with many ships around u
I have the Strike... I have mix feelings on it. Not sure why the devs couldn’t have given us the black paint (like the prowler).
I'm most comfortable flying using a lot of roll and pitch. I always wondered why this ship felt like a fucking fireplug after flying the gladius for my bounties before flying this. Is there a reason to not fly with the wings in outside of atmo? It doesn't feel less agile but seems to narrow her cross section considerably.
Id imagine you'd catch more bullets with them open.
Sub, I am torn. I like the look of both the Talon and the Buccaneer. Hopefully someday CIG will allow us to create alien character and I will go Tevaran. But, given the choice which in your opinion is the better fighter? The Bucc or the Talon?
Bucc is faster and has more DPS. Talon is more agile. So in straight line race, bucc will be faster. But in terms of orbiting and dodging things, Talon will be better. DPS wise, Bucc wins. No debate
For the Shrike, why not allow it to fire more than 2 missiles at once as a buff ? Like 4 or maybe 8.

No one knows for sure. It might find its way on the store during fleet week but it probably wont. If there will be another alien week then it will be available for sure. Alien week last week was in june I think.

At 7 :17 you said “ the Shrike has 24 size 2 missiles” when that should be 24 size 3 missiles which is a major difference. Maybe they have updated its payload since you made the video or perhaps just a slip of the tongue?

I tried my Shrike. Could not launch any missiles at all. It seems missiles are still a 50 / 50 or worse reliability after all these years.
Are you aware of the new minimum firing range? Have the key-binds changed since you last played? Your min firing range is listed on the bottom right corner of your hud.

Talon is op for PvP. S4’s you got range. Use that to your advantage. Kite other players and lay waste to them with your C-788’s.

You will need to contact Marty McFly. It is not for sale in-game nore on the pledge store. You'll need to wait until the next sale. (May is my guess.)
This ship is so overpowered considering how nimble and fast it is.
The mass of the Shrike due to the number and size of the missiles must be a lot heavier and therefore flight performance should be hindered.

Best way to fix the shrike would be to rework missiles again.
Oh well missiles are getting reworked from the ground up probably by 3.13. Looks like this should be done in Feb but I dont think we'll see it until 3.13 goes live.
Convert missiles to use the IFCS guidance and control systems. This will improve missile performance and tracking ability, enabling greater control over general missile behaviors.
Talon has strong shields but is weakly armored under the shields. Then proceeds to compare it against other small light fighters where it has more than double the hull HP of all other light fighters with the exception of the Khartual... Nice work there CIG as usual. I honestly am not even sure when they come up with their sales pitches and when they decide to completely just ignore them.
I thought the Tana was hauling some serious missiles, but this has more and they are s3 which is just ludicrous. But 1 per rack missile firing is the most ridiculous thing CIG has done. The F-14 back in 1970s could lock and launch on 6 targets at over 100nm with the Phoenix missiles it could carry. Why are they doing this dumb artificial limiting of missiles is my question. All missile boats are sitting ducks due to this.

The Talon can pop an Arrow before the Arrow gets a shot off. It can take down a Gladius in just a few more shots.
The Talon is definitely a viable ship in PvP. Shrike... I haven't found success yet. :)
Shrike is not good for PvE - but it’s potential in pvp is much higher Han the striker.
I've got both the arrow and Talon, and regardless of what the numbers say, the Arrow feel much more nimble. The Talon is fun, but totally unusable in pvp. Lose a wing (which is stupidly easy), and you're done.
The Talon wrecks people in PvP. What loadout are you using? I recommend C 788s for weapons.

@@LegendEternal I don't have the issue of my wings coming off. I also have adapted to not playing into circle strafing until either I or my opponent dies. Not sure if you're doing that.

i believe RSI is prejudice against the vanduul ships even the esperian built reclaimed technology, they want people to go broke buying them as well as being blown to bits. i personally want to be vanduul in the game and have vanduul design robot soldiers not human look alikes, with me as well. and use all of the vanduul ships and tech and creatures as well as the banu. i wish to approach the RSI about character design in the game.
I personally think 24xS3 is pretty ridiculous for a ship this size. It does twice as much as a Cutlass and almost as much as a Freelancer MIS. Also, it's a pretty lazy design between them. You need to have a physically visual difference as to why the Shrike cant have 2xS4. But all it has is 2 holes which physically wouldn't impact what size weapons you could put on it.
Like the internal missile racks must mean the Shrike is completely hollow to fit 24xS3 missiles in it. But then it doesn't explain what is on the inside of the base Talon.
The Freelancer MIS has 20 S3 missiles internally. So this has 4 more and the Freelancer MIS sacrifices 30SCU for those 20 missiles... So something is not right here.
$100 they do take the piss with there price's, its not real SC! o and finished the fricking game.
