I agree, strength is one thing but proper spotting is my downfall. One can spot from an early age, but doing it effectively is something else …

huh looks like ky thinking was correct 😂 i thought to myself that i can get better at pirouettes by basically balancing in passé (i was ok at spotting it’s just balance) and I just train to hold it there and it worked! Currently i’m sometimes able to do a nice double pirouette which includes a float on the second and sometimes 1.5-1.75 turn with the half to 3/4 a float and it’s fun 🤩

This is the way I was taught along with the way I improved on the method. In this demonstration. You began at step two and skipped over step one. Start by facing the barre with the leg a La seconde. The leg on the lower barre. The issue everyone seems to be with maintaining the leg up. This is due to the rotation of the leg in seconde is not fully rotated. What I’ve observed in this video and when I taught it in class. The heel of the foot is facing downward. This is incorrect alignment. It should be facing forward. It should feel connected from your inner thigh down to the heel of the leg in the air. It should not feel or be tucked under to keep the leg lifted. While at the barre. Start your strengthening of both the working leg and the leg in a la seconde, and do releve’s. Releve’s should be done 8x, and on the eight one. Stay up and find your ballance. Adjust your body alignment find the correct line. Repeat this exercise 4x alternating after each set. You want to develop you muscles evenly. As you do this, analyze what are you doing on your good side, that is lacking on your weaker side. As your doing this exercise. Your arms should also be in a la seconde. Don’t not slam your heel of the standing leg to avoid causing an injury to the heel. Once you’re able to hold the balance with your leg in a la seconde for a count of eight on each leg, then you’re strong enough to move to the center floor. Now begin in a forth position as if you’re going to do a pirouette, but as you turn the back leg goes into a la seconde. Don’t go into a releve’, but keep the heel on the floor, and take small hops as you circle around. This helps in getting used to the G force of the leg being extended and moving in the air. Keep checking the alignment of the body. Do two circles hopping, then go up on releve’ for the next two revolutions. Repeat on both sides. Now the arms in second position. The leg in the air, and the arm of the same side should be connected through the back muscles as you turn. The leg and the arm, and shoulders over hips should be like a ballet barre with them be directly one over the other. Finally, the leg in a la seconde should be slightly in front of the body to or where the rotation allows the heel to face front and NOT down or backwards. Find the rhythm and flow as you execute each rotation. This is a comprehensive instruction to developing good alignment, consistency, and habits.

I think it's weird cuz my spotting in jazz turns is horrible and im at a double, but in my a la secondes im hitting my spotting better and since i have bad balance the foot going up and down helps

I could work on all of that except spotting. I had a concession as a kid, and since then, spotting makes me more nauseous than not spotting.

Maybe try switching to ice skating? Ik it’s a little different, but you can turn without spotting on the ice
