Nope, and I wish I could say differently. I have been to see BNL 23 times, from small clubs early on to big amphitheaters and arenas, and loved the band every time. I cannot bring myself to go see them without Page. They're good, they fine, but they're not BNL like I remember, and I don't want to tarnish my memory of those wonderful shows where everyone - literally everyone - in the audience had a smile on their face for the whole show. The five of them together was magical.
In the UK, dabbling in a bit recreational was a right of passage for any up and coming rock band. In Canada? It's a passport to oblivion....for it's core contributor. They hung him out to dry.
This is legitimately like the Canadian John Lennon and Paul McCartney reuniting in middle age. I hope one day, when they're very old, they can still perform together.
The best part of this is Steve and Ed looking at each other singing "Birchmount stadium, home of the Robbie" which was a local soccer tournament in their home town...beginnings ❤
Unfortunately it was a One, and Owt. After having to appear in New York, I am not sure if My Conscience would not allow me to look at Ed, nevermind the Mirror Shoulder High. Hell Froze Over so anything is possible.
I love seeing them all together - saw them over a decade ago and it was such a fun concert. They used to release official live recordings of every show. Looks like they are having a blast on stage and I hope they (not so metaphorically) get the band back together!
I didn't know the lore of what happened until today (in 2024).... listening to the words of their top hit really hits different now. "It'll still be 2 days till we say we're sorry...."
could they be more gorgeous or alive? no freakin away! i want them to tour with rob thomas! none of them are afraid of getting older and neither i am i! i love them all and they are leading the way like they always did!
4 years late to the party, here, but did they ever perform again after this? (oldschool fan; saw BNL when they came to Dallas - they were so accessible after the show, just hanging out in the alley by where their bus was parked, just mingling with fans on the sidewalk - got my Gordon CD signed and selfies with Steven and Ed. Nice to see them together again if only for a moment... 🙃
Really late to the party myself. Sadly, no. This was a one time event, as they were being inducted into the Canadian Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. If you watch the performance again, you’ll notice the chemistry is a little awkward the entire show. BNL have always been really good at performing live, even when things were falling apart. Their last tour with Page in ‘09 had them showing up to venues separately and only seeing one another on stage without a word to one another before or after each performance. If you find the CBC interview leading up to this performance, they seem cordial when talking about one another, but Page and Robertson still insisted they do their interviews separately. They’ve never shared (specifically) where the animosity for each other stems from, but I’m willing to bet it’s big enough that neither one will forgive the other for it, and it will prevent a true reunion in the foreseeable future.
@@BigScreenViewing Wow, that's really hard to imagine such animosity off-stage - the banter (at least from the show I attended -- mind you this is forever ago) gave the appearance that they had lots of fun inside jokes together, all the witty back-and-forth etc. I guess during that last tour, they didn't really need to practice together? And what about the rest of the bandmates? Did they take Ed's side because they likely were on the tour bus with him etc?
“Will still be two days ‘til we say we’re sorry…” Kind of sums-up the likelihood of these guys patching-up and making music again. The fact that they interviewed prior to the Junos separately says there’s still a lot of stuff to work out.
Cringing when the "special guests" all start singing along and messing up lines...having flashbacks of the musically crumbling "Listen to the Band" segment at the end of the Monkees "33 1/3" special.
I remember when they were supposed to entertain at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario in the early 90s----everyone lost their S**T because of their name----can't remember if they got to do it or not.
DenimJeans A battle with bipolar and subsequent self medication. He left to focus on his mental health and pursue a solo career. It’s really sad but it’s good to see him looking so happy and in good stead with the rest of the band
@@Tozmiov hello and good morning Jude I'm Peter from Hamilton Ontario Canada how are things there hope you are keeping safe? I'll be 48 years old and a stroke and cardiac arrest survivor now loved the Barenaked ladies LoL

The Band has never been the same without Page.
Page is just a treasure (Barenaked Ladies, too!!)

The fact that Steven Page and Ed Robertson still respect each other is obvious.
I just noticed at the end when Steve says "When I had a million dollars" Ed laughs
Nice catch!
I pray that this is not the last time together but just the beginning. They are great apart, but twice as great together.
I miss the chemistry between Ed and Steve. I hope to see more of this.
If you got to see BNL with Steven Page, you win. You won.
December 2005 in Hartford, CT!
I really wish Steven would come back. I miss him and Ed interacting on stage like they did here.
They had such good chemistry!!! What went wrong???
@@doctoremb Drugs
np shit bat man not easy as people think
Reminded me of all of those early '90s shows during the Yellow Tape years... good times.
If you pay close attention, though, Ed doesn't really acknowledge Steve at all through the entire performance. It's actually kinda awkward.
Andy Creegan, carrying his double bass closer to the mic, WHILE playing, and not missing a beat. Total pro!
Pete Davis That’s Jim Creeggan; Andy’s on keyboard.
Can not express how much i love this band when they are altogether. Fantastic folks!
Love BNL music, and it’s awesome to see them perform with Steven Page again. Hope to see this happen again.
The best part of this is Steve and Ed looking at each other singing "Birchmount stadium, home of the Robbie" which was a local soccer tournament in their home town...beginnings ❤
I love how Andy was there too!!!
The WHOLE gang back together... this rocks!
Insanely good talent. Need more like them.
Steven Page back with BNL?... YES Please!

The best all together
I was there. it was crazy🤯
If i had a million dollars. I'd still watch this. Great song.

And the band too !!!
The Old Apartment still rocks to this day
American pie generation ❤
Yup!
Bruh the lady snatching the money🤣
I saw them in Brighton England and everyone sang back Million Dollars in a Canadian accent. It was brilliant.
I absolutely love this band.

God Loves The Bare Naked Ladies! JUNO AWARDS ARE FREAKING AWESOME!
They still sound awesome! What a Great band!
Still very relevant. We need then more now than ever.
Great band ...saw them in Ignacio CO ... yup ...would go anywhere to see them again..
This made my day finding this. I'm going to go look up details, but this is awesome.

It's nice that the Canadian Engelbert Humperdink introduced them.
"Birchmount Stadium, home of the Robbie". That is where I went to high school!

The Barenaked Ladies are so much better without Page! Signed - No One Ever
Steven Page has a perfect voice. It's never been the same since the coke.

"If I had a million dollars...............I'd be rich!!!"

BNL without Stephen is like Rush without Geddy or Neil.
badderthanyou - or RHP without Flea, or Frusciente.
It would be nice if they really got back together, but I'd rather them be happy apart than unhappy together
