The course is really good for those of us that are new to or poor at mixing our own paints. I use a lot of paint with acrylic pouring and this saved me so much time and money now that I can but some generic colors and make almost any color I want.

Hi, Chris. In your post (The Best Student Grade Acrylic Paint), you recommended Liquitex Basics Primary Yellow (PY74) and Primary Red (PV19) based on your other post "The 7 Colors I Use for Acrylic Painting".
I was wondering why you did not recommend Liquitex Basics Pyrrole Red (PR254) and Cadmium Yellow Light Hue (PY3), which match the pigments for Liquitex Heavy Body Pyrrole Red (PR254) and Hansa Yellow Medium (PY3).
Thanks for your time, and more power to you!

When I was working on my color mixing course I found that the primary yellow in Liquitex basics seemed to work a little better than the other yellows I tried in that line. I do prefer Pyrrole Red over Cadmium Red but it wasn’t always available in Liquitex basics…I think they had 48 colors to start then expanded it to 72.

I am confused because I don't know a lot, just starting out. But if you put acrylic paint in the little container it try out, right. So you waist the color_

I use Golden open acrylics which are a slow drying acrylic paint. If you want to use regular fast drying acrylics, you can also find stay wet palettes that have a sponge in the bottom with palette paper on top which keeps the paint wet.
