I was amazed how busy it was. It was Oct/Nov so quite cold and wet. Even so, it was packed! I had been spending time nearby at Battery Park, watching the squirrels and all the laundry guys hanging around. No idea what that was all about? Anyway, after paying my respects to the East Coast Memorial, remembering those that helped us Brits with the war in the Atlantic. I decided to go for the free ferry. I was considering going on one of the Circle Line tours but went with the Staten Island Ferry instead. Loved it.
It's on my must list of things to do in NYC.
I lived in Staten island until I was 13, I loved riding the ferry!

We always take first time visitors to the ferry. Personally, I never get tired of being on the water. Just for clarification - "twin mast" could be yawl, ketch, brigantine or schooner rigging, but most likely schooner.

I’m a little confused . When I get in the ferry then return back i will be in lower matter and close to Brooklyn bridge ? Right

You forgot to mention , what other things to do in the island , not just ride the ferry , Snug Harbor,? Fort Wadsworth,? The Staten Island Zoo,? Not just jump in the ferry , wait for your 25 minutes ride , get off and make the run to take the next boat back to Manhattan. You also forgot to show that in your video. Funny
This video was all about the ferry, but I agree I definitely want to show more about the island from a SI local's perspective in a separate video!
I lived in Staten Island after moving out of Brooklyn place was called huguenots I used to have to take my car to the train my train would take me to the ferry then I would take the Staten Island Ferry downtown where I worked on Nassau Street lots of stories but I'll leave it at that right now. Oh yeah I had to pay a nickel no I have to add more I'm sorry when I was taking the ferry they had the big ones the John F Kennedy and it was able to hold 30 cars on the lower level now I believe they have these little ones that run back and forth I don't know if they still run the big ones or not have not looked into it I'll be back
i had scammers try and sell me tickets to this and seen a lady throw a bible at somebody lol
OMG wow that's crazy, can't believe you saw that scam, I've also heard about it, but it's terrible since it is free, sounds like quite an experience!

It's always free. Scammers sell tickets I read in an article. Google it for info.

A special bonus a few weeks ago, as a Brit, was the SI Ferry sailing right past our new aircraft carrier, the Queen Elizabeth. which was visiting New York for a few days. I only found out by chance the day before I flew out of London

When I was a kid I said to my dad, dad they say there’s five boroughs Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and the Bronx but that’s four.

Before I retired I visited Manhattan dozens of times, but I never took the time to ride the ferry. I'm kicking myself now because it looks like such a great experience. At least I got to vicariously experience it through you. Thanks for sharing!

YES, I USED THE FERRY IN 2022 IN KINGSTON CANADA WE HAVE A FERRY THAT TRAVELS BETWEEN KINGSTON TO WOLF ISLAND I LOVE IT. AND IT'S FREE!

I did this. Better option then the deals they sell you on time square. We explored the island as well.
I made it to the Accounting meeting and conferenced at Victoria's Secret Interview before I had documents faxed through to Linda at Manhattan Courthouse in Manhattan. I also faxed to NYPD several documents to the Police Records and Files Department.
Oh yeah I called to the Victoria's Secret located at One World Trade Center and Found out my living situation at 57th Street sponsored by Sotheby's
It's not free nyers pay for it through taxes

the statue is far from the ferrry, not worth taking this ride at all, u spend so much,come to USA & what if u dnt hv a proper photo with the iconic landmark.every free thing is not good,there r many videos on yt which shows from how far this ferry goes from the statue,infact v far.

Why do the other boroughs look down on Staten Island?
Daevon useless ? I can say the same as the Bronx then 😂. So their isn’t sports but who cares. I used to live in Brooklyn and never cared about the Nets. Knicks fan so meh.

Statue of liberty is in NYC not NJ. Yes it in NJ waters and closer to NJ than NYC, but it's part of NYC NOT NJ

I just watched another SI video and that fool kept saying *in* Stat en Island when it is on Stat Nisland. I grew up there.
Is it necessary to take a subway or taxi to get there? Is it possible to take my car and just park it there?
