A classic telling of "Who is the leader of Vox Machina?", from Taliesin (Percy), is answered "Vox Machina doesn't have a leader, unless Vex is within earshot. Then, it's Vex"
Realistically in the campaign the leader is who ever has the biggest investment in the events going on. The Whitestone arc Percy took more of a lead. Things dealing with the Ashari tends to be keyless. Raven queen? Vax. The rest seem to me to be more voices of "reason" for lack of a better term with Vex being the loudest all offering up different options and ideas with Vex and Pike being the ones too temper Scanlan and Grogs more.... unreasonable... suggestions
Fun holy water story: I once played in a Curse of Strahd campaign. We were fighting a vampire spawn and spilled our holy water. The dm allowed me to take off my shirt and soak up the holy water. I then proceeded to whip him to death with my wet shirt, locker room style. I highly recommend everyone play dnd.
Everything about the fortune cookies in this episode was perfect. Launching the first one into orbit, the fact it had no fortune, and then the second one being THAT of all things. Amazing.
To answer your question at about 13:40 there's about 12 good guy deities known collectively as the Prime Deities and 8 bad guy deities known as the Betrayer Gods. The Dawnfather and Everlight obviously being among the former.
So many references this time around. So the "strangest kills" are actually encounters the party had in the game that this series is an adaptation of. Since those arcs were cut for time here, it was a way of referencing them since those stories likely aren't getting put in. Vax, Keyleth, and Grog's all came from the arc right before the Briarwood Arc began in the game, the "Underdark/Vasselheim" arc as that was the first two dozen episodes of the game when they started streaming, since they picked up mid-adventure from their home game. Vax's kill was a devil creature called a Rakshasa that is effectively a tiger man (in the game they have distinctive backwards-facing hands, couldn't do that here for copyright issues). His name is Hotis and the thing about his race is that if you kill them, they respawn in the nine hells and reform before swearing eternal vengeance against the ones who killed them. Vax had gotten the kill against Hotis in the previous arc and he becomes a recurring villain the party has to deal with the rest of the game. Keyleth's and Grog's were from the Underdark where the party was travelling in an underground tunnel complex under a dwarven city to rescue Lady Kima (the gnomish warrior on the Council that we saw in previous episodes) as a favor to Allura, also on the council. Grog's kill (moved to above ground here to visually be different from Keyleths, in the game they were in roughly the same location) was a Bulette, a dangerous creature that was attacking the dwarven city. Trinket's armor is actually made of the scales harvested from the bulette after that battle since it had a very tough armored hide. Keyleth's kill was a Duregar, essentially a dark dwarf (think of how the Drow/Dark Elves are compared to regular/High Elves, same thing but with the Dwarves) that was part of a raiding party that attacked the group near a lava flow. Keyleth knocked one into the lava and did pull the whole "go to sleep, go to sleep" thing with him although the game's version was even more brutal since she tried using her wind powers to push him under but wound up cooling the lava back into rock and leaving him trapped in it.
I love when reactors have editors that are more familiar with the content and put in little bits of commentary. It's a fun added bonus for the viewers.
i remember the deafening silence when the party saw the tree and the hanged party in their original game. They really gave homage to that scene the way they did that episode ending with no end credit music, just the creaking of the ropes.
As a critter watching this I saw the people being summoned by the Briarwoods and when Silas said something about getting them into their costumes I was hit with the sudden "oh no"

i mix of both!! i would say about 15-20% of my videos per month are edited by editors starting about 3-4ish months ago?? They are credited in the descriptions.
Don't see it in the comments, so I'll point out that the reason Pike left the party was because during the D&D game this is based on, Ashley Johnson had to head to New York to film Blindspot, so wasn't available most of the time. We actually didn't see anything she did away from the party until this show, they expanded on the story for that part.
"How many deities are there?" Uhhh, at *this* point in time of the series, there are 20. Twelve are known as the Prime Deities (The Good and Neutral aligned ones). The Dawnfather and the Everlight are considered Prime Deities. The other Eight are known as the Betrayer Gods (Evil aligned).
the flirting between vax and gilmore and vax and Keyleth gets even funnyer when you are aware that the voice actors Keyleth and Gilmore, in the game lifestream, where they all look echother in the eyes while doing that, are a married couple and everyone is just totaly fine with Vaxses actor hitting on them in the game. vaxes actor is also married, though to no one at the table. he does flirt like hell with scanlans actor, even if that had not yet factored into any of their character dynamics. Vexes actor literaly mouthed "I love you" at scanlans compleatly beside the game . . . . . the streams are absolutly worth watching for all the adorable interactions between the whole cast that happen parallel to the game as them comforting eachother or falling over eachother laughing . . . .
"beter be worth it" reality rangers have very limited spell slots so every spell counts doing that spell on her arrow most likely was a large percentage of her spell slots

i mix of both!! i would say about 15-20% of my videos per month are edited by editors starting about 3-4ish months ago?? They are credited in the descriptions.

I know :,)
ehehe
Two episodes are better than one
I really recommend watching the sun tree reveal from the campaign! The slow reveal gave me chills.
For Vax, the description you're looking for is "dark, angsty and svelte."
Scan’s the man!! Nothing to be ashamed about. 😂
In the main lore, 21 gods split between 12 Prime Deities and 9 Betrayer Gods, with a whole bunch of lesser deities or lesser idols.
5:19 - Is it the Briarwoods? Why're they so _shady,_ shady?
Because direct sunlight would kill Sylas. 😁
Scanlin deserves his own rating.
Ah, you have now been truly introduced to No Mercy Percy
the flirting between vax and gilmore and vax and Keyleth gets even funnyer when you are aware that the voice actors Keyleth and Gilmore, in the game lifestream, where they all look echother in the eyes while doing that, are a married couple and everyone is just totaly fine with Vaxses actor hitting on them in the game.
vaxes actor is also married, though to no one at the table. he does flirt like hell with scanlans actor, even if that had not yet factored into any of their character dynamics. Vexes actor literaly mouthed "I love you" at scanlans compleatly beside the game . . . . . the streams are absolutly worth watching for all the adorable interactions between the whole cast that happen parallel to the game as them comforting eachother or falling over eachother laughing . . . .
love someone enough to give them the last De Rolo 😁
11:47 that if you know, you know part... still can't erase that discovery :(((
still keeps me up at night
11:46 haha..i know
:)
If it's any consolation. There are no more Scanlan bedroom scenes this season.
There's a bathroom scene, though. ^^;
Gotta love, No Mercy Percy!!
Lol whoever the editor is knows what's up ☝
I can't wait for the next episode It's easily my favorite
I came here for the Vox Machina episodes. But I stayed for the Star Wars. I think I need to check out more when I get time. 👍🏼🔥🔥🔥
Ange you have been given a gift, fortune has no hold over you. You life is what you make of it.
I’m about to binge your whole vox machina playlist but like are we getting a season 2 reaction?
I wish I knew how this video ended, but alas I was murdered by that fortune cookie edit
5:50 - 6:00 is one hell of a reaction rollercoaster :D
Are you glad you are doing two because could you imagine ending on the tree scene and waiting a week?
I’m anxious to watch his episode/s!
Looking forward to your reactions to the rest of the episodes. AKA Ange doing her Ange thing. 😉
hahaha "if you know, you know". Who's your editor? :D I need to know if he/she is a new or old school critter :)
bit of both, I've only started watching weekly this campaign, but I've been a casual fan for a while :)
Well welcome. Glad you decided to start keeping up. Drag Ang along sometime ;)
please finish your only murders in the building watch, its how I found your channel and fell in love with it T-T
"beter be worth it" reality rangers have very limited spell slots so every spell counts doing that spell on her arrow most likely was a large percentage of her spell slots
You have no fortune. You are the fatemaker. Destiny is within your hands.
This was so good :D
Scanlan's "... I still finished." Took the story to a whole other level of wrong
Sam Riegel’a Scanlan is EVEN BETTER in the live D&D game!
Yo this editor is on a fuckin roll in this one
Ah yes, Vox Machina’s greatest enemy… doors…
Is the intro new? I don’t remember it from before but it’s cute!
