as someone who loved the book, I watched this last night and absolutely despised it. it takes a beautiful original work about alienation and turns into any other dime a dozen war movie. it was like a football player trying to make art. ugly movie, lifeless characters, the only things of value came straight from the novel and everything else sucked or was a shadow of its source material. can't believe it's getting the praise it is, especially those VFX...
