      Good luck, I'd say it's probably easier to get a great 40 time with age than a great 100m time. Unless you're unfit, you aren't going to hit your top speed in a 40yd dash meaning the 40 is mostly about explosiveness and acceleration and these are skills that can be maintained and trained with age.

      @Stallagmite 2 года назад

    • @KX5Kat
      @KX5Kat 2 года назад +1

      @@Stallagmite
      That's impressive, but remember, hand-times are WAY off. You're adding your daughters' reaction time, which is around 0.2sec for both the start and finish, so a 5 flat is easily going to be a 5.4sec FAT.
      If you're not willing to invest in something like a Freelap system (what I use), then the next best thing would be a smartphone app with a good slow motion function. Start the timer after your first movement and have your daughter hold the camera and keep it in line with the finish line so you can time exactly when you cross it.

    • @Stallagmite
      @Stallagmite 2 года назад +1

      @@KX5Kat 😁 I had a similar idea- An iphone at the start and one of my video cameras at the finish line. Set them rolling, clap loud at the 20 yard. Line up the audio clap for the cameras on the video timeline (any sound delay would be equal if the clap is in the middle I'm guessing) then I can just figure out the time in the video track. I'm guessing it should work with decent accuracy. 😄 I have a purple toe from skateboarding at the moment though.

    While the 40 yard dash is important and a good judge of overall athleticism, how often do the athletes have the exact right form (video states inches matter) during a play that is required to run their fastest speed......it doesn't make sense. @calvinmiller3044 4 года назад +4

    I think this sorta hurts the legitimacy of the 40-yard dash as an assessment tool. The position they ( the players) start from is not similar to the position off the line of scrimmage and a difference in starting technique, rather than speed, might be the difference in a player running a faster 40, which isn't very useful on the football field. I also think the combine can add a metric that measures how fast a player comes off the first 10 yards since that could possibly be the most important for a WR off the line or an offensive lineman.
    Good production through.

      A 4.50 lazer is a good time for him. No one expected him to run a 4.3. His game is route running and body movement, like Chad Johnson or Antonio Brown.

    The 40 is the most ridiculous evaluation in sports. I run a 10.2 - 10.4 100 meter dash I played D1 soccer and I use to race against the football players in the 40 they would beat me 10 out of 10 times. I don't pick up speed till the 40 to 50 meter mark it's to short of a run and it doesn't really prove how fast you really are.

      How many times is a player running more than 40 yards straight in a game? If anything the shuttle runs are better metrics, because it shows acceleration, explosiveness, and change of direction.

      @@1983khd TBH i think the draft combine is dumb.. if scouts cant watch your film or see you play in person to evaluate your skill then they don't need to be scouting. they base how these young men career will go on how they do on this stupid combine. like no what does your eyes tell you? will they fit in your scheme? how can we use your skill set to win more games? like film is more important than the combine. cuz i run a 4.2 that means i'll have a good career and get drafted higher like gtfoh lmaoo.

      Pete Rock smhh and that’s how some ppl miss there blessings, it’s either speed or height and that’s not rightt at all. Especially if the athlete don’t fit your scheme and that what happens most of the time coaches don’t adjust to help play contribute. This yr draft there’s a lot of good WR and base on the career I’m taking Jerry Jeudy regardless if he runs a 4.5 film shows he’s the best out there, but you can’t go wrong with Ceedee Lamb just reminds me of a DHop.
