The music was wonderful and how innovative to record in an echo chamber. The way those notes just bounced around the room was thrilling but made me a little dizzy.
Eccezionale, meravigliosa, una gioia. Thank you for this Wonderful music. Wunderschoen ! Bravi tutti ! Maestro Feldtein, where are you three from with your unusual last names -Estonia? Keep on your Fine work with our complements, as you can see from the comments.
They are all Hungarians, and this performance took place in Budapest. Unfortunately the very talented harpsichordist lady is no longer among us, as she died young in 2016.
Here's a link for 5 stringed violoncello. Not to be confused with viola tenore. That previous violoncello is played in baritone or bass clef(carry in the part of basso continuo as well) ; while tenore is in tenor clef, considered as a viola. facebook.com/badiarov.violins/videos/1733511533338945/ The so-called "cello" in this video played between thights is traditionally called basso or basso da chiesa. To further confuse, but worth mentioning, there's another slighly bigger in size "cello" called violone which is making a come back as well. Which is usually played on a stool on standing position. Then comes the double bass(contrabasso). Ottobasso didn't exist yet until French,Paris based luthier Vuillaume invented it in somewhere mid of 19th century. facebook.com/badiarov.violins/videos/1733511533338945/

The music was wonderful and how innovative to record in an echo chamber. The way those notes just bounced around the room was thrilling but made me a little dizzy.

mannerism? Really, a formal and technical perfectionism is so beautifu, refined, and of highest leve why then do not to admire it!
Mannerism is not necessarily a putdown. Many of us like mannerism! In visual arts or in music.
bravo!!
cómo te gusta las ciacconas!!

Who wouldn't give their right arm to be able to play like that.

A 5-string cello‽ There's something you don't see every day!

Hi @@andrewtannyenwen ! Just for my clarification, here in this video (not on the links you posted) is a basso da chiesa or a 5 strings cello?
as much as I like this, the temperament chosen for the harpsichord sounds rather sour here?
Martin Spaink
It's the fault of the blonde, dunk her in fresh goat's milk and raw honey. She's most likely on her sour period.

I prefer by far Arpeggiata's version and Veronica's Skuplic expressive violin.
So do I!
All those different interpretations of this ciaccone are marvellous to listen to
So why bother here?

Per fortuna vi ho ritrovati
At least tune the cello to the harpsichord before making a recording...
Not quite brave enough.
Bravo !!
