I've seen that clip of John making faces a few times but never knew it was this song he was playing. I now see the chords he's playing as in your great lesson. Thanks.
i wasnt expecting john at 7:03. caught me off guard , it was truly haunting but cool to see !! great tutorial real nice touch to have little clip of john
Very nice lesson for a great song. You're right about modulation being extinct. It tends to add interest to simple songs. A lot of pop songs today are lazy and could use it.
This is an excellent lesson on a beautiful song. I bought the original vinyl album decades ago, (77 yrs old now….me, not the record!) and I’’m inspired to have another crack at it now. Thanks so much for putting this together.
I feel that And I Love Her and If I Fell are two of the most beautiful ballads that Paul and John ever did in the Beatles. Both have amazing intros, George's part certainly raised the song from a great song into a classic, while John's unique chords at the start of If I Fell are totally unexpected but again make the song.
First song I ever attempted on a guitar, 51years ago, now. It was in Dm from an 'EZ Piano' book. I think my first lead was Brian's in the Stones' 'Heart of Stone.' Both George and John's playing on this are good, and they were captured well on tape.
Thank you for this. This has always been one of my favorite songs by them. Not so much the song but the guitar part. I play lead but I'm not really very good at it. But it's that kind of precise playing that has always impressed me.ive never even tried to play this before but perhaps I will now.
My friend - you have great taste in music. I have played this song for decades. I have even contemplated buying a nylon-string gitfiddle for this song alone - but I haven't yet 😎).Your Scarborough Fair lesson was good (one of these days...). I picked up a few things on your Proud Mary video. Filling in all these gaps I have had for years and years (no one but a guitar player would ever pick up on my "improvisations"). So, thanks. Keep 'em coming. sw
Nice video - one of the first songs I learned but I missed many of the subtleties. Dylan used to play his acoustic with his arm around the end like Lennon.
I’m starting to really feel my age lol. Paul did an unplugged in 1991 and did this song. Best version ever. Check out the lead guitar. It was performed beautifully and is dreamy because of how slow they played. I just looked it up. In classical music it’s called ‘adagio’ - to convey a sense of solemnity or deep emotion.
Hmm. Some of this is right, but a lot of wrong chords. Doesn’t even sound right. Find the right chords on Ultimate Guitar. It’s not complicated. This guy is way out.
Do you have jumbo frets on that acoustic? I’m thinking of having bigger fret put on mine, my thoughts are that it would make playing easier! Any thoughts on that?
E6 - wow! it's the chord. I've noted a few Beatles songs with a sixth chord. A very good lesson to a great, soulful song - you find the good ones, don't you? 😅 I love the dramatic key change to this song - it feels like they are purposely playing only to the listener. IMO this song transcended The Beatles music from other bands/songs for that time. The song 'hook' that George Harrison came up with is so simple and profound - George had a great ear for tasteful, guitar lines. On another (non-musical) note, did you ever do the video to explain your RUclips channel name - 12 Foot Chain? ... mystery 🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think it's actually more a Dm or F major scale. But visually I see it building around a Gm chord so I think of it that way, but whem I look up the notes, the robots in the interwebs say Dm / F.
Does it not speak volumes about song writing then and now 1 guitar plus 1 mind = great song ..... There are musicians today who are struggling to make any thing decent with 200,000 $ worth of studio equipment ...... it may all boil down to letting yourself be free of restrictions .... When your mind is consumed with a 1000 things it is very hard to truly focus.
Nice lesson. One of the most underrated and beautiful songs they ever recorded.
6th string 4th fret‼️ Yes. How did these guys get so good and we love them, even today.
I've seen that clip of John making faces a few times but never knew it was this song he was playing. I now see the chords he's playing as in your great lesson. Thanks.
Yes that is a beautiful song , even after sixty years I still feel something when I hear that song. And of course that great lead by George.

This is brilliant. Can't get enough of the Beatles.Greetings from Dublin.👍
Greetings! Used to live in Foxrock!
Cool 👍
George elevated the song so much on this with his parts. Well done!

Thanks again for a great lesson. I've loved that song for years and years.
I like your cerebral approach ( music theory ? ) to teaching a song. Thanks
Thank you for this. I’d forgotten just how beautiful this song was.

I love this song
Fantastic lesson! Thanks so much.
George was a genius.
Each note is a graceful journey , that seems to resolve each other .
Nice. Probably my favorite pre-rubber soul song.

Where would the Beatles have been without the Georges: Harrison & Martin!
Great lesson for a beautiful song. Thank you!
Aside from great and accurate lessons, I really like most all of your song choices. Thanks again!
Fantastic as always.
I love that e6 position.I've been using that up and down the neck with great success
Beautiful song. Thanks for the lesson.

Well I certainly did learn that this song is amazing. I have only played it in the most simple way. Know I will be learning it properly thank you

Ian Tyson used to play back at the bridge
He had his guitar up high and his arm was behind the bridge
He had a TV show way back, I used to love it
Ian Anderson played nylon strings on most of his Jethro Tull guitar parts. And they sounded great.
Excellent
Great lesson . . . lovely song . . . but feeling my advanced years yet again. 😪

Love it thanks.
Yes very nice
Well done
This song is in the Key of E, (Key change to Dm @ Bright are the stars), so it's a G#, not Ab.
Thank you! Identifying keys is not something I fully grasp yet. If the first key is E, why wouldn't the modulation then be a key change to F?
Hmm. Some of this is right, but a lot of wrong chords. Doesn’t even sound right. Find the right chords on Ultimate Guitar. It’s not complicated. This guy is way out.
Brilliant
Love you comment and "whatever" attitude about the G#/Ab note.
Yes!!
Can I have that brown SG Special behind you? It's just hanging there. 😶
Do you have jumbo frets on that acoustic? I’m thinking of having bigger fret put on mine, my thoughts are that it would make playing easier! Any thoughts on that?
Don't know what kind i have. I'm not sure which give which kind of playability / feel
Do you buy the theory that George used the Ramirez on All My Loving?
Sam popkins channel has that, I'd trust his judgement/research.
Suggestion: Charlie Musslewhite, Just a Feeling , off of Delta Hardware….. 😉

Can you teach John Lennon solo song look at me? Capo 2. G. Travis picked
Is the solo in Gm pentatonic scale?

@@12footchainthanks for your reply but I’m lost. I don’t understand how George is playing a Gm chord notes?

So true. So true
no it's supposed to be Ab not G# :)
