0:19 I was looking for this lesson in RUclips since Simon & Garfunkel sang it at Central Park show in New York . Any woman tuned voice singing this old story conveys me to ancient Britain , thanks a lot
I remember this song in The Graduate. Simon and Garfunkel's music elevated that movie to a whole other level and made that movie something special. Great Lesson!!!
I'm getting ready to start playing it again and I have all the acoustic songs I've learned from you I'm going to be doing acoustic music and I've learned everything from you so thanks for the great work

Another great lesson Doug.Iv'e learned a ton from your in depth lessons . Any chance a lesson on Wishbone Ash "Blowing Free" from the Argus LP? I know most tunes you teach but the fine tuning is what I love the best. Thanks for the lessons
The greatest attribute of Paul Simon........as he sang in his other smash hit Homeward Bound (hint for a follow up S&G song lesson??) was he a poet or a one man band?? Like JT, McCartney and a very few other greats.....he was the master of turning his fantastic poetic writings into beautiful music! Jim C.
I would add that Paul Simon didn't come up with this arrangement by himself - he did take a lot of it from Martin McCarthy which he was exposed during his time in the UK in the 60s - and this is pretty widely acknowledged.
Cool lesson! I would listen to my mom's record with this song in the 80s. Though, as I've aged, I've turned to dislike Paul Simon the public figure. Can't separate his public attitudes from the song.
You're hitting it out of the park with these lessons.
Just think of the folk sessions when Paul Simon shared a flat with Al Stewart in the 1960’s.

Great lesson! Always enjoyed their interpretation & popularization of this ancient folk song.
Great breakdown. I love that acoustic. a beautiful version of an old English folk tune
I recall working on this one way back in the 70's - that picking pattern took a while to master!

Gosh, was this not released until 68, think it was recorded earlier?
Great lesson as always
1965
Lovely , thank you. Do you sell chords/picking patterns on patreon.?
Yes, exactly! I'll have this one up tomorrow.
Fabulous! (could have used this in 1966 when I had the voice for it...)
Could you do one for Jim Croce's "Time in a Bottle"?
Thanks!!!
