At 8:00 is my favorite part in the song because it is floweys theme which heavily ties in with this specific theme in a way you need to play the game to understand
Ive firmly believed and expressed how once you understand HOW a song is made or played you appreciate it a lot more. And this is a prime example. Seeing and hearing what Toby Fox did to this makes me love this song even more.
I'm actually kinda late i know. But man, your gesticulating reminds me of a happy child listening to a cool song over and over. I think that's what toby fox aimed for when composing this masterpiece (Asriel is indeed Asgore and Toriel's child, and so are we while fighting him, going back to our hopes and dreams)
The Asgore connection makes so much sense! This song is reminiscent of a time when humans and monsters got along whereas Asgore is the pinnacle of the brokenness between humans and monsters
Love this! Hopes and dreams is definitely a reward! I love that you played Asgore’s theme to fit inside the song, it’s so perfect. This video is such a treat!
This song is a rollercoaster of emotion for me. When it started for my playthrough, it had me going from one emotion to another all throughout. It's very powerful, and possibly the most important song in the entire game, even more important than the annoying dog theme and the Wrong Number Song. And there's a very good reason you're getting hints of Asgore's theme to it. I won't say why, but when you realize, it'll hit you in a way that'll only make sense if you're really paying attention, but it will make *perfect* sense. The title may be "Hopes And Dreams", but this is a song that builds up, and is built *from,* pure DETERMINATION.
A lot of remixes and reimaginings of Hopes and Dreams usually pair with another track in the game, called "Save the world". The two basically go hand-in-hand. You'll understand when you experience it!
Same. All I knew was there was 3 main endings, so I did my best to do True Pacifist. I also knew a little about Asgore, Omega Flowey, and Sans back then. But, I didn't know how they were connected. I did correctly assume Sans was the Genocide Route, but I was guessing about the others. I did screw up Toriel's fight, so I redid that, to then get called out for it! I was like, "Ayo, wtf?!" But I somehow managed to not screw up the rest of the way. I died several times to Undyne before I remembered I could Run, lol. I was also playing parallel to Jacksepticeye's playthrough, only watching each section after I played it first to not spoil anything. But man, that True Ending hit hard, especially when I walked all the way back to the very start. That's what made me tear up most.
7:53 I almost flipped a table when you didn’t mention Flowey’s theme (This is a joke don’t worry) I never heard the asgore connection before!!!! That’s actually really cool! 10:03 So yeah this is Snowdin’s theme. So, fun fact, according to the wiki, the Snowdin theme is actually split into to parts. Hopes, and Dreams! One leitmotif is used for like- Snowy, and the themes when you’re not in the town, and the other is used for Snowdin Town. I still don’t know why exactly Snowdin is involved still, and why the themes are called Hopes and Dreams. Maybe it was the most hopeful place? I dunno
RUclips recommend me one of your undertale videos and I'm so stunned about how you can understand and explain perfectly the music even you if don't have all the context of the scene, your content is amazing, keep it on! new sub!
To this day this song still makes me emotional. And the 'contrary movement', my god Toby's genius and ability to seamlessly tie themes into his is incredible. A child embodies their parents' Hopes and Dreams.
When I first fought asriel I was so ecstatic like finally a good ending and the song gives me goosebumps while making me cry and so happy at the same time
It makes me so happy to see you listening to this, it's my favourite song in the game 💕 Edit: I'd love to see you analyse songs from an anime called Kaiba, it's not very known but it's something that means a lot to me, especially chroniko's melody!
MAN, YOU'RE A GENIUS, THE FACT THAT YOU KNOW FROM THE MELODY THAT THERE IS A CONNECTION BETWEEN ASGORE AND AZRIEL JUST BLOWS MY MIND (AZRTEL IS THE SON OF ASGORE AND TORIEL, AND HIS NAME IS KIND OF MADE UP OF THEIR NAMES AS(GORE) + TO(RIEL) 🤯🤯🤯

The moment where the key changed was beautiful! Sometimes random key changes in songs annoy the crap out of me (though I have no idea why, since I'm not a musician), but other times it's done perfectly.
I remember when I heard this song while doing the Pacifist Route for the first time. I was in tears at the end 😢 this is so emotional and means so much to me... and I'm not the only one ahah! So nostalgic of my undertale phase lmao. Thanks for analysing this one!

I recognize that every time davivasc react to undertale music, the views are higher than other game music, that shows how amazing this game is although it was made 7 years ago
I love hearing you try to speculate what the context of a song is based what themes and melodies it uses from other songs! It's really interesting. This is definitely one of the undertale songs that's SO cool on it's own but gets even better once you hear it in context!
He totally nailed it with this sounds like the hopes and dreams of all the monsters. Very fitting given what happens in this fight and the one before it.
I love this theme. It's a culmination of everything you've managed to do to get there, the power of love and friendship to push you forward through all of the hardship. I recommend anything from Chicory: A Colorful Tale. Lena Raine did the OST and she made gold.
Its interesting to see someone who is new to undertale music pick up on the most important leitmotif, that being the undertale leitmotif. I gotta watch your playthrough to see if you heard his theme in waterfalls and it was that that clogged your brain a little in the begining.
The Snowdin motif has been used in several tracks, including some in Deltarune. Based on its appearances, to me it is the anthem of the monsters, the theme of them getting to live their lives.
Yesss, I was waiting for this! I love your analysis which puts more layers on my already high appreciation of this piece. However, watching this without the 'His Theme' Interlude and the following 'Save the world' feels...unsatisfying. They simply belong together for maximum feels :) (I'm sure you'll understand once you hear it)
Great video as always! This piece fills me with something warm and positive vibes, but at the same time, I also feel a touch of sadness. I feel sunrise and sunset at the same time. It feels like a sad feeling at the end of an amazing journey. Thank you, Davi. I really enjoyed this :)
It is, almost impossible to explain the situation of this song without entirely ruining the story of the pacifist route. But it is VERY emotionally charged, and arguably the most important part of the game.
These videos are fantastic.... I've loved discovering them! Seeing the joy on your face as you encounter and correctly guess (almost all) of the reasons for certain motifs.... like others have said, it just shows what an amazing composer Toby is, and how amazing you are too! Just a little bummed that you didn't notice Flowey's theme (the 'happy' theme you talked about) as this is what pulls the whole thing together.. but if you hadn't finished the Pacifist route, you weren't to know. I'm hoping you've completed it by now!
4:20 when you're trying to figure out the light motif your pizzling out is called "His Theme" it's Asriel's other theme and appears overtly twice in the run, once in a music box in waterfall which is used for a puzzle and again in waterfall in a flashback, both times it's a music box rendetition. I believe it may be a light notif in home, fallen down, and new home as all 3 tracks are related to Asriel in some way, and it most prevalent in undertale as that song plays during a retelling of his story
I love this track. Goes straight to the feels! One of Toby Foxs best tracks that just carries emotion throughout and with the context, its hard not to have the feeling of determination well up inside you. A pretty cool moment like a big moment in an Anime. The emotion carried out through the battle is so well done and reminds of the final battles in the Bravely series.
This is my favorite score in the entire game. It's high action AND high emotion. It truly feels like it marks the endgame of a battle for hope, like Battle Against a True Hero but more magical and fantastical. It also personally feels really nostalgic, and not just because I heard it years ago when I was a kid, as it had this emotionally nostalgic quality even back when I first heard it.
I have to recommend the Tears of the Kingdom theme music! It goes so hard and if you're able to predict the plot from it before the game even releases would be the biggest bragging rights.
Man, watching you go crazy with the simply awesome and awesomely simple structure of Hopes and Dreams brought back so many good memories of that track... and the particular part of the game where it plays. Not going to even hint at where because, like "Your Best Nightmare" (Photoshop Flowey's theme, aka, the final boss of the Neutral Route), you need to experience it properly in the game. Blind. Also, "Hopes and Dreams" has a companion piece that... technically... starts immediately after the fade out. I was going to suggest you did that one after this one, but again: it's better if you listen to it when you reach that point of the True Pacifist Route. Just remember: True Pacifist is not just about not killing a single creature, but also about... getting to know them. So, if you can interact with them outside of battle, perhaps you should take your time to go out of your way and hang out with these colorful characters. Who knows? Maybe, aside from getting to know better celebrities like say, Papyrus, Undyne or Dr. Alphys, you may even end up stumbling into unexpected places and find out more about what lurks beneath the surface... of the underworld (if that makes sense to you). Anyway, happy gaming, and happy music. You did two iconic pieces in a row, and I could not be happier by your amazing reactions.
The Snowdin motif you found also plays in the date with Papyrus, as well as in the shop themes. Its use in this song could be referencing those moreso than Snowdin's theme Fun fact: Toby Fox "stole" the motif from the stage 7 theme of Kirby's Block Ball.

At 8:00 is my favorite part in the song because it is floweys theme which heavily ties in with this specific theme in a way you need to play the game to understand
He played the game (Not paying attention to the songs unless he heard them before)
@@Echo-Frisk should have been more specific, I meant the pacifist ending
Ive firmly believed and expressed how once you understand HOW a song is made or played you appreciate it a lot more. And this is a prime example. Seeing and hearing what Toby Fox did to this makes me love this song even more.
Daaaamn, you're good, man. This is indeed a battle theme, for the final boss of Pacifist, and it is indeed related to Asgore.
The fact that you can use the various pieces of music in toby tracks to assemble where the track would play is sooooo cool. DAMN i love music
Snowdin's theme is also the melody in an event you can experience with papyrus. Which was reminiscent to me of happy tunes in the Ace Attorney games
The best part of this soundtrack is when the beat drop happens in this song and it effects the game. It’s so cool.
Bro this guy is a genius, he’s guessing the entire undertale timeline with just the music
I'm so happy I did the True Pacifist Route the first time I played Undertale. It was such a wonderful experience.
without being spoiled? If so, then huge w
since everyone plays it like every other RPGs unless they get spoiled
You would have to finish the neutral route, then you can beat omega flowey, reload the game, and finish the True Pacifist Route.
Or play it two times.
7:53 I almost flipped a table when you didn’t mention Flowey’s theme (This is a joke don’t worry)
I never heard the asgore connection before!!!!
I dunno
You hear your friend's hopes and Dreams resonating together in a beautiful song
It feels you with DETERMINATION
"this track sounds... 'asgorian' " just killed me lmao
Oh my god when you paired asgore's melody with it is just sounded AMAZING.
I KNOWW! i got chills
I am agree with you
RUclips recommend me one of your undertale videos and I'm so stunned about how you can understand and explain perfectly the music even you if don't have all the context of the scene, your content is amazing, keep it on! new sub!
This song always makes me insanely emotional. It’s hard for me not to hear this song without tearing up
To this day this song still makes me emotional. And the 'contrary movement', my god Toby's genius and ability to seamlessly tie themes into his is incredible.
A child embodies their parents' Hopes and Dreams.
Best song
No doubt.
When I first fought asriel I was so ecstatic like finally a good ending and the song gives me goosebumps while making me cry and so happy at the same time
It makes me so happy to see you listening to this, it's my favourite song in the game 💕
Edit: I'd love to see you analyse songs from an anime called Kaiba, it's not very known but it's something that means a lot to me, especially chroniko's melody!
You sir put words on everything i feel in music. You are amazing!
If you didn't know, this music was inspired by a band called Anamanaguchi, you can really see that the chiptune mixed with real instruments 'comes' from them!
But the this is: This music became so popular that even Anamanaguchi made a cover of it! You should def check it out!
No way??!??! I LOVE ANAMANAGUCHI
Thanks for analysing this one!
howdy Davi, how's life? always nice to see another epic reaction video :D
Doing pretty good. Gonna wrap up the work for the day and go play Advance Wars.
@@DaviVasc advance wars? never heard of it but if you are going to react to its music then I'm sure it's great, haha.
also I sent you an email a few days ago and I was just wondering if you've seen it? if not that's totally ok, just checking in here 👍
Let's put the "Spamton should only recommend Big Shot" thing aside for a while and listen to some other masterpieces out there.
For example, "Battle! Zero Lab" from Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
honestly all of the area zero songs together would work because they go together so well
Or a semi-obscure, but equally cool Hymnos from an Ar Tonelico game (like EXEC_PHANTASMAGORIA).
Wow, I'm always amazed at your analyzing skills. You picked up so many things. I didn't even realize Snowdin was in there and I heard it a bajillion times.
Loved this video! Two songs that are very significant to the character of Asriel (who you fight in this battle) are Your best nightmare and Finale
My favorite Undertale song! I've been waiting for so long!
Hopes and dreams is my top one fav, so I'm glad you included this 😊
The second you started jamming to the guitars i immediately smashed the subscribe button
"It feels so happy, so positive, like a reward."
Ha
"Its the end of the world"
It is, almost impossible to explain the situation of this song without entirely ruining the story of the pacifist route. But it is VERY emotionally charged, and arguably the most important part of the game.
The ways you've dissected this makes me want you to go through some of The Void Rains Upon Her Heart music
YOOO the video i was waiting for
Ah cant wait to see your reactions. This is such a great song
7:53 this is Flowey's theme ! im surprised you didn't point it out
These videos are fantastic....
There was a leitmotif staring in your face and you missed it. On another note "Save the world" is the encore of this song.
This is definitely one of the most emotional fights of the game, I cried SO HARD during this XD
Harmony and Light shines on your soul
This fills you with *DETERMINATION*
4:20 when you're trying to figure out the light motif your pizzling out is called "His Theme" it's Asriel's other theme and appears overtly twice in the run, once in a music box in waterfall which is used for a puzzle and again in waterfall in a flashback, both times it's a music box rendetition. I believe it may be a light notif in home, fallen down, and new home as all 3 tracks are related to Asriel in some way, and it most prevalent in undertale as that song plays during a retelling of his story
The Undertale melody plays everywhere, this music is a combination of all.
The opening holds a special nostalgia in my heart
i'm a huge undertale fan and an even bigger one when it comes to the music. watching you go through the music makes me smile. Keep it up :3
formalmente requisitando uma re-assistida desse vídeo quando essa música aparecer no seu let's play :]
The reason snowdin plays in this is because the two leitmotifs for snowdin are called hopes and dreams.
Wiki ahh comment
Let’s go! Love this one so much, loved your video on Asgore and knew you would love this one
Its use in this song could be referencing those moreso than Snowdin's theme
Fun fact: Toby Fox "stole" the motif from the stage 7 theme of Kirby's Block Ball.
