Wiggles you’re back!
Thank you for introducing me to Border Down. Holy shit is that game hard but the soundtrack ROCKS.
Awesome video! It's great to see you uploading content again! You always put so much work into these and include so much interesting information. You definitely deserve way more subscribers then you have!
I really, really appreciate that! It feels good to make another video, and I'm happy you enjoyed it 😊
Really nice list dude! And the musical background behind your voiceover is kickin'!
While my personal favorite and most played is Mars Matrix, I think objectively I need to agree about the order of your Top 4.
Thanks! I'd accept any reordering of my top 4 since they are all incredible. If someone said their #1 was Mars Matrix or Border Down, I'd shake their hand and tell them they have incredible tastes.
Loving your videos and your style.
Oh my god, dude! I'm so glad that you're still making videos. I'm quite a new subscriber here. So pardon if this sort of timing of uploading videos, is normal here. Anyways, you have a great way of making your videos so funny and charming that I was instantly hooked, nevermind the STG focus here. So glad you came back and hopefully keep making more vids.
Wow, thank you so much! It's been a while since I've posted new videos with any sort of regularity, and 2022 was just not my year in terms of having the time, motivation, and patience to make new videos. I decided 2023 would be different and I'm trying to make good on that. I'm already working on my next video which should hopefully be out in no longer than a month, and am going to try for a cadence of at least one new video a month on average. This is more of a goal and less of a promise at this point, but I've sincerely missed making youtube videos, and I thoroughly enjoyed making this video more than I have any other in easily a year and a half. I'm optimistic at least lol. But I appreciate you and everyone else who has remained subbed despite my massive absence between new videos. Thank you!
You have some of the best descriptions of games I've ever heard. Love those wild expressions.
@@kaneofnod yes
I was just looking at adding a Dreamcast to my retro gaming collection. Great video. Subbed!
Thanks for the sub and best of luck with your collection!
Great video, sir.
Wow! I haven't heard of a lot of these. Thanks!
Of course!
It's nice to see another new video from you.
Of these I only have border down which I am still trying to beat after a year of having it, really giant laser battles would make anything better, G-darius and Metal Black are so much better for it.
I also have Gunspike but that wouldn't make my list.
Do you think the Dreamcast version is the best way to play Ikaruga? Worth a second purchase?
It's good to be back!
I've played/owned every version of Ikaruga except the XBL, Switch, and Steam version, and honestly I don't really notice a difference in terms of how they play. The PS4 version probably looks the best, but again I don't notice any differences in the gameplay really.
whats that song at 4:01 ? its that xyx 1st stage, but its a remix? cant find it on youtube
Ikaruga = 3rd best shmup ever. Awesome stuff.
Cool to see love for Under Defeat. I'm also glad it got a release on PS3 in North America, but sadly, the Rising Star Games 360 version is region locked, and won't boot on either my NA or JP 360. That said, the Dreamcast version is still the best, IMO. It still looks incredible in 480p over VGA on a nice screen. Especially in tate.
Under Defeat
The shmup god is back as a Request can do a Retrospective on the Thunder Force series because I really want to get into them.
I will absolutely be covering the Thunder Force games at some point, along with some of Technosoft's other shooters.
Nice
Dreamcast had amazing shoot em ups especially Mars Matrix Border Down Ikaruga Giga Wing and Giga Wing 2
I would switch 3 and 1 around but other then that great list. I find Borderdown much much better then Ikaruga.
I think at one point Border Down was at #2 for me, but I often replay these games and the order changes from time to time. I'd say my top 4 are in a league of their own however compared to the previous 6 games in this countdown.
Be me. 2003. Thirteen. Mom's 'cute' puppy pisses inside my Dreamcast's open disc tray, turning it into a Sega DreamPaperweight.
Lmao!
That poor Dreamcast 😢
@@wigglesarcade8261 even funnier, piss-logged consoles would dog me on two more occasions: a PS2 and a Gamecube. Said Dreamcast was actually replacement for the PS2.
Out of all of 'em, I'm most nostalgic for Sega's box of unfulfilled potential. I'm waiting for homebrew wizards to port MAME emulation for the Cave shooters, then I'll get a new one
what about GIGA WING 2
Great game 🍥
I'm playing Flying tank very good/fun game
A top 10 basically means you’re factoring in almost every shmup for the system 😂 great games though, I agree. Wish Sega stayed in the biz longer.
Gigawing 2 just for its crazy-a$$ chaotic 4 player mode
It's unfortunate that at this point, the DC version of Mars Matrix is the best version. Genuinely needs a steam port.
My only issue with Under defeat is that there are only 2 credits..and no cheats..at least not on Redream. I'm in my late 40s now..my reaction times are rusty. Still in process of trying the other titles noted in this video. Will likely update again. Do more credits get unlocked the longer you play? or is that PS3 and Xbox 360 only?
What do you think is better between Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergun?
Radiant Silvergun
There really isn’t no correct answer. It’s like asking 10 people what they like better steak or chicken. I personally love them both, but I am also a big treasure fan and pretty much enjoy most of their games. Best thing for you to do, is watch some videos of both of the games and make your own decision based on your own taste, By the way, in case you don’t know, they are both available for the switch.
I can't choose between my two sons 😢😂
Can you name the top 3
Trizeal id love to see come to switch I have Gunbird 2 through the psikyo collection and Sturmwind ex its so sick
'Promo sm'
Wtf is a shmup
You don't identify each game, so your video is useless.
I mean to say i got karous for the Sega Dreamcast which is awesome game 🕹🎮😀👍🏾
I just got karoua and under defeated for Sega Dreamcast on eBay i paid 270 for karoua and 104 for under defeated you stay in this $400 figures it worth it I got them on eBay in great condition complete 🕹🎮😀👍🏾
Any chance of you doing anime reviews sometime? You seem to be a huge fan of awesome anime like Neon Genesis Evangelion and Super Dimension Fortress Macross, so that's why I asked.
You are 100% correct about me loving anime. I don't have any immediate plans to review anything but video games at the moment, but you never know. It's certainly something that has crossed my mind once or twice. I'm also a big manga guy too.
@@wigglesarcade8261 What would be your favorite anime of all times? Like a top 5 would suffice.
@@wigglesarcade8261 And yes, I also love me some manga too, especially stuff from Masamune Shirow, Tsutomu Nihei, Kentaro Miura (Lemmy rest his badass soul), and of course the ever badass Go Nagai.
@mattmaddogwheaton4724 that is very tough, but off the top of my head I'd say:
1. Neon Genesis
2. Cowboy Bebop
3. Genocyber
4. DBZ
5. Yu Yu Hakusho
Probably my single favorite Anime production, show, movie, or otherwise is Ghost in the Shell.
@@wigglesarcade8261 Kinda figured Eva and Ghost in the Shell would be your numeral uno, especially considering your reviews on Sin & Punishment and Radiant Silvergun.
As for mine.....
5) Bubblegum Crisis (Best cyberpunk anime if you ask me)
4) Gunbuster (Greatest Gainax anime in my book)
3) Super Dimension Fortress Macross (One of the very anime that got me started on my love for the mecha genre)
2) Mobile Suit Gundam (Same as Macross)
1) Armored Trooper VOTOMS & Neon Genesis Evangelion (both show are just soooo good)
Honorable mentions include Getter Robo Armageddon, Genocyber (glad I ain't the only one who loved that anime, Koichi Ohata gets way too much hate like Rob Liefeld), Record of the Lodoss War, Megazone 23, Detonator Orgun, Tekkaman Blade, Bio Booster Armor Guyver, Super Beast Machine God Dancouga, Venus Wars, Dominion Tank Police (THE best Masamune Shirow anime), Project A-Ko, Gall Force, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, Cyber City Oedo 808, Crusher Joe, Dirty Pair, so many good ones mang.
