I love that Craig doesn't have a scripted interview plan (aside from the questions he asks all of the pros). This was fantastic. Also, Jas did a great job of following up - what a great interview partner. Go Pat, and go team HSTL!
Absolute legend and by far my favourite Games athlete. Pat, if you’re reading this, continue being you and go win the games next year. We all believe you can.
Great interview, the Canadians really come across as grounded and fun. By the way Craig did you here about Bailey Dyson-Good, a young man from Huddersfield who broke the world record for strict ring muscle ups with 15 (wearing a green HSTL. made t-shirt)? The previous record holder with 14 was a Calisthenics PT called Lee Wade Turner. (Chris Heria, just sayin)
Loved the interview ... great to see an exceptional athlete who is that down to earth. As a suggestion for Patrick, try fly fishing on your day off to get away from the norm. Being in Canada he has access - per sheer volume - to more incredible water than most places on earth. ... at least when it’s not freezing ☃️
Definitely one of the best interviews. I just can’t get over how relatable he is in as far as one can relate to one of the fittest people, soon to be, fittest man on earth.
Awesome interview. Every time I see Patrick in an interview or on a podcast I like him more and more. Such a smart man and quick to laugh, seems like a good dude.
The 'when things go wrong' segment is excellent! That is 100% of what Crossfit is about. Being able to be versatile in any and all circumstances; from when Castro is unveiling the new workout to falling 15ft down a cargo net to being crushed by a rookie! Games athletes can't be just physically adaptable - they have to be more-so mentally!
My favorite cross-fitter (and fellow Canadian) and favorite RUclipsr = Absolutely amazing video to watch!! Well done on the interview Craig and Jas, great questions and an excellent watch!!
Love this! One tip though: looking into the camera is weird for interviews but works for the vlogs. Just setup the camera angle on both of you and sit across each other with a slight angle. Keep doing interviews please and release them as podcast too! (Be Joe Rogan for Crossfit!) 😊😉
Love some Canadian pride, I have the same feelings about Canada. I'm a Canadian living in New Zealand and the things that I love here are the things that remind me of home. It's the most beautiful place on earth and I couldn't imagine settling down anywhere else.
Great, fun, interview . . . every time I see an interview with PV, it reminds me he's just a down to earth, solid person. This vid made me find him on Instagram and hit that follow button. Thanks Craig and Jas . . . the same applies to you guys . . . keep on smilin' and laughin' at this world of ours :)
What a guy! The way he talks about training/nutrition/competion is just awesome. Good to hear such things from a top level athlete. And his thoughts about nutella are on point :D
That was an incredible interview! Great job Craig. Awesome vlog! I’ve had a few rough days in the box recently that’s made me think my fitness isn’t improving but hearing vellner talk about the bad days has made me excited to hit tomorrow’s workout! Keep up the good work!
I would meet you over the Rock (for whatever that's worth). Great interview. I could see you held back on this interview. So glad you just let it happen and just Let Pat talk. If you interviewed Mat, you'd have to work.
It’s interesting how he mentions that having a training partner basically doing your stuff with you would be detrimental if you are a high level athlete competing against someone who is your direct completion, but Noah Ohlsen and Travis Meyer seemingly had a good training season
When he was talking about mental attitude and dealing with highs and lows in competition was I the only one thinking the likes of Noah Olsen & Sara Sigmundsdottir in terms of up and down whilst say Mat Fraser is constant
Clarification - MacGruber is a skit based on MacGyver with Richard Dean Anderson. The movie is basically a SUPER long SNL sketch, so, if you're thinking of watching it, be prepared for that.

A cool video Craig, well done on getting the opportunity to chat to such a fine and famous cross fitter and then to show us the best bits!
Love this. Already watching it again.
You didn't asked him what he does when he is burn out in a workout!!
I love that Craig doesn't have a scripted interview plan (aside from the questions he asks all of the pros). This was fantastic. Also, Jas did a great job of following up - what a great interview partner. Go Pat, and go team HSTL!
Love This! I think you need to just travel around and interview athletes!
🤷🏻♂️ We need to do a proper sit down again next time we’re over 😎
@@TeamRICHEY Now that you guys are on your way to AU there are some awesome athletes to interview there... #justsaying
@@almogkoren5600 Luckily they did 😎
This guy is REAL! Makes training seem more attainable for people like me.
You should do more of these, please! Fantastic to watch, Vellner is legend!
This would make a sick podcast.
Absolute legend and by far my favourite Games athlete. Pat, if you’re reading this, continue being you and go win the games next year. We all believe you can.
so much better of an interview than the crossfit media podcasts

Vellner about horror movies: "why would you put yourself through that?". Well, that's exactly what every non-crosfitter says about most WODs.
Pretty much one of the best, if not THE BEST, Crossfit-Interview i've ever seen.
Holy shizz that was an amazing interview man. I haven’t sat through a long video in years. And that had me gripped the whole way.
HSTL. sponsor him!
edit: what a cool dude!
Fantastic interview! Vellner has some very interesting insight to the competitive mindset at the games.
Fantastic interview! Great job team HSTL! Velner is awesome
Definitely one of the best interviews. I just can’t get over how relatable he is in as far as one can relate to one of the fittest people, soon to be, fittest man on earth.
Pat Vellner is the man. What an interview!
This is awesome man! Makes you think about your own training and how you attack your training. Supercool dude Vellner!!
Great interview, fantastic plainspokenness on the part of PV. Very enjoyable.
Awesome interview. Every time I see Patrick in an interview or on a podcast I like him more and more. Such a smart man and quick to laugh, seems like a good dude.
Awesome interview. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Pat is a legend!!
Seems like one of the most genuine and down to earth guys in the game. What a bloke.

Excellent interview! Vellner is a solid dude
Can’t wait to see Vellner winning the crossfit games. Totally in love of this guy.

Great Interview and great questions asked
I like Patrick Vellner's mindset....you can relate to him.
While watching this my HSTL made shirts arrived from the competition haha thanks again brother

Hans Worst my thoughts exactly!!
Great interview. Such a likable guy.
Great interview! 😍😍😍
Vellner.... such a great guy!
Interesting insight into the mindset of a great competitor.
Wish I was a big friend of those two LEGENDS!
Great interview! Every time vellner says the word ‘about’ it for some reason reminds me of old school South Park and how they pronounce it ‘aboot’ 😂
I enjoyed that, good skills. He's a machine.
Great video!
Great video.
great interview
Great Stuff!
Great content!
In a year we will all think, why this sanctioned events and the games change did not happen earlier it's so fun!
this is awesome! go pat! :D
It seems like lots of the best athletes at the games have extensive gymnastics or weightlifting back grounds.
I’m on the Peanut Butter Squad with Vellner! Spoonfuls at a time baby!!!
Soo good!
Brilliant
It’s interesting how he mentions that having a training partner basically doing your stuff with you would be detrimental if you are a high level athlete competing against someone who is your direct completion, but Noah Ohlsen and Travis Meyer seemingly had a good training season
Great interview! Vellner rocks! Celebrity to meet: Michael Jordan
So Solid are OG's!
thanks vellner!
pure gold.
You should get in touch with some master's athletes, to interview and take #Geoffdontquit
I like this idea. :)
When he was talking about mental attitude and dealing with highs and lows in competition was I the only one thinking the likes of Noah Olsen & Sara Sigmundsdottir in terms of up and down whilst say Mat Fraser is constant
39:50 "That's how it plate out" :D :D :D :D
That app ‘media monster’ lets you play music and record video at the same time.
One word “EPIC”
All the knowledge bombs
How ironic, I had to make a chiropractor appt today!! Dang sandbag wods!! 🤣👊🏼
Clarification - MacGruber is a skit based on MacGyver with Richard Dean Anderson. The movie is basically a SUPER long SNL sketch, so, if you're thinking of watching it, be prepared for that.
The stranded island comment, I would of took bridges, having a navy seal on your side can go along way 😂
14:49 "Notices Rich's biceps.....Adjusts position to look bigger" lol!!
This is amazing. How did this happen? Hstl now got an international rep
Fuck yeah!
Pineapple on pizza for the win!
