I am in a dilemma I am after a good transparent Overdrive. I have looked at JHS Morning Glory, Gain Changer, Lightspeed, Timmy, BlackBox, and so many more I forgott the names of them. What do you recommend
@@Sailor_Man_Music Extremely hard to answer, as we all have our own "Interpretation" of low-gain/ transparent overdrive. I will say this, I do a ton of extensive research, and these are some pedals, that stood-out-to-me (in no particular order) J. Rockett Blue Note Overdrive (non-tour series/original), Barber Gain Changer SR (on my board), Sarno Music Earth Drive, Westwood by Earthquaker, & Greer Lightspeed. I don't think you will go wrong with any one of these? I use 3 pedals, for various gain stages: Thorpy Muff>Fulltone OCD> Barber Gain Changer SR.

Good demo! Great playing! Jan Ray sounds more mid-ey and compressed to me. Great breakup. Lightspeed a bit flatter across the spectrum, breathes more and decent breakup. I've tended to use the Lightspeed for very light breakup. If I get the Jan Ray, it would be for the dirt!
Well, I've had the Janray for over a year and I recently got the Lightspeed. Folks, RUclips does not do justice to the real differences between these two pedals. In reality, the Lightspeed really sounds weak and meek in comparison to the Janray, especially on single coils. Even my Xotic EP booster sounds thicker and fuller than the Lightspeed.
Shnobskies tone is always so single coily bright (TPS is the same way!) so it's hard to make an "applicable to my rig assessment" as to whether the pedals are for me.
I own both pedals and a dumble style amp (Dark tone). Vemuram has a fuller/thicker tone with bass eq and treble eq. Light speed got thinner tone but also les gain and does sound a little bit more organic. If you just want a little bit hair on ur tone the Lightspeed is keeper.
Had them both (bought the lightspeed twice) and the Jan Ray is the one I miss. Both great pedals though. However the mad professor royal blue overdrive is also in the same category, and is my current go to. They can be had very reasonably second hand as all MP stuff doesn't hold value for some reason
I have the jan ray and the ODS shanks, and four different Ibanez tube screams. The tube screamers are just awful compared to the Jan ray or the shanks. If it wasn't for SRV, NO ONE would be using the tube screamers. The Jan ray is nothing like a tube screamer. And that's a good thing!
Lightspeed is more mid sweet, more organic, Janray more glassy overdrive both great pedals
Lightspeed - all the way. I also recently fell-in-love with the Barber Electronics Gain changer SR = my Do-All Overdrive = such an UnderRated pedal.

Barber pedals are fantastic. So underrated!
Very interesting.
Not that I was going to shell out on a Vemuram anyway.
But now I'm that much happier with my Lightspeed ... 😜
Very Succulent sounding pedals full of juicy drops of harmonic richness. Love my Greerskies. The lamplighter compressor I have of theirs is nice.
Good demo! Great playing!

I have the Jan Ray and I really its mids. Cuts right through a mix. Pricy but fantastic tone.
Lightspeed is cool on a dark guitar/amp as it brightens tone Alot!
I prefer the Greer, it seems a little more scooped in a good way.
Both of Pedal, Must Have.. I Love The Sound
Lightspeed vs the world. Bring it on!
Lightspeed more like the Shanks to my ears. Good video thanks.

Thats so true!!

Right? ^^ lovin' it
Into a Vox, no less. Bright tone!

Confusing enough that i now don't 'need' either of them.
Money saved! [Not really-it'll just go to something else....]
Different but both work with the setup you have.
The Jan Ray sounds much more interesting
Für mich - Jan Ray!
I have both of these pedals and they are not the same, but they are both excellent...don't let this demo dissuade you from checking them out irl...
Lightspeed vs Morning Glory. Timmy vs Morning Glory.
Man I gotta say, the Jan Ray is just a really really expensive tube screamer
Just isn't! If at all it's a glorified Timmy

identical?????
Nope, Lightspeed makes the sound twangier whereas the (hugely overpriced) vemuram pushes the low end more
Jan Ray = Timmy. 🙄
No the jan ray isn't half as transparent.
Simply put the Jan ray sounds like a pedal and the light speed sounds like an amp.
Go and have a look inside the Janray...Very bad work on soldering ! A stupid geek pedal !!!! Fat better ones everywhere .
