The position is butterfly Ashi. Left leg is butterfly and right to the hip along with the overhook on the foot

Is it an aoki lock when he gets it on the rib? If not, what is he doing to ensure that it finishes as a straight ankle lock?

Hybrid of the Straight Ankle and Aoki Lock.
Mikey Musumeci goes over this in his DVD - Death from Below.

No… he means if you FEEL you have THE ANKLE JOINT on your ribs that’s a deep enough grip to finish the straight ankle ( bad grip position won’t work on black belts unless you on juice and snap their shin. Only seen that once in absolute division- big guy vs small)
Akoi lock is bottom of foot on chest toes inside the guillotine grip. You must pull up sit back and twist the knee with your legs. Creates a anklelock and knee lock
