I've watched a lot of sketchbook tour videos and I think this is the kind of stuff I'm looking for. What seperates this from the others for me is they are more like finished illustrations or 'art books', where this is is looser, can see experiments, fun, and unfinished pages without a particular 'theme', lots of variety. I find this stuff more inspirational and attainable as someone restarting the hoby.
Oh, thank you Alex for such a lovely comment. I'm so glad that you enjoyed the video and found it both inspirational and attainable. I do believe it is important to share the realities - both the 'struggles' and the 'done with ease' pages. 😘
Thank you so much! Patreon is for sure the way that I have progressed the past year, and as you said, supporting artists at the same time is a double win! 🎉
What a varied sketchbook! I loved the urban sketching, and how you used colour and how you experimented in your sketchbook. I really enjoyed this flip through! Thanks for sharing it with us! :)
Hi Evie!! Love your journal flip-through❤I always think im going to remember what I liked best but alas I cant🥴I enjoyed everything! I love your style❤I havent done much but I really enjoy doing line and wash. Just quick pen work with some WC added. Hope you have a good weekend and know you will be ever so glad when your book is finished! Just take some time to breath and enjoy a little break. Hugs! Susan in Az🥰🏜️
Thank you Susan! 😘 It is the knowledge that when the book is done, it will be an incredible achievement that is keeping me going. And knowing how proud my Mum would have been of me getting an actual book published. So, one day at a time until it's finished. ❤️ Ah line and wash. It's a good go to when short on time too isn't it? I think May pack my small palette with me tomorrow when we pop out, make some small little line and wash sketches. Thank you for inspiring me with the idea Susan! Take care! 🤗😘
😂I pray 🙏 that you’ll get caught up with your book so you can take a breath and relax. Enjoyed seeing all of your artwork 🎉. Hope that your niece is doing better 👍 . Love 💕 that you keep it real on your videos ❤
Thank you Diana! I decided to take some time out today to just chill... enjoy the sunshine while it's actually shining. 😍 Glad you enjoyed seeing the work in the sketchbook. And thank you - niece is well on the mend now, such a big relief. 😘❤️
I love the little tower with the red-orange and blue right at the beginning. That is such a georgeos color combination and your line work looks so good as well! It such a simple scene, but I find it so beautiful and charming. Your garden looks very charming as well. I can only keep the sturdiest of plants alive, but I admire it when people have a bunch of plants. I really like that your sketchbook is so experimental and actually a sketchbook. So many different subjects, styles and materials - after all, a sketchbook is the perfect place to try it all out. The parrot looks stunning but I feel with you - that one looks like it will take ages to finish (but it will be worth it!). I'd love to see a timelapse of it! The cats are super adorable! I think your drawing of children also turned out well. You've done a lot of timed challenges! I never dare to do those because I'm so slow and drawing and I fuss around for ages... I probably should push myself with such a challenge, but I haven't felt like it yet. Hope your niece is better now! 💜
Oh, thank you so much! Blue and orange are my all time favourite combination. 😍 The garden is more of a roof terrace / potted plant situation - I love growing veggies really, but we don't have a garden or access to an allotment here, so pots it is. 🤣 And yes, a sketchbook is the best place to play and have fun. If we're too precious with them, we'll never progress (in my view anyhow), so I'm always happy to throw anything and everything at my sketchbooks. Probably my background of fashion design, we had to keep sketchbooks for our design process when I was at school studying, and it's clearly stuck with me. 😎 Timed challenges used to scare me. The perfectionist in me would worry about leaving half finished work, but I've embraced just going for it, knowing that if I want to, I can always go back and add more 'time' to a piece later. And I've definitely noticed a leap in skill and confidence from doing times sessions - forces you to really look at what you want to include in the drawing. Hopefully you give it a go too! 😍 And thank you - she is back at school now, seven weeks on, and doing very well. 😘
Yes, this is true, but today we have SO MUCH SUNSHINE Jackie that I'm tempted to bail out on the 'work' and get the rays on my face while it's possible! 🤣 😘
I’ve been trying that Ohn Mar Win idea in my animals sketchbook and it’s working for me. It helps me not to be so particular over all the details, and I think it has a more energetic look.
Absolutely agree with this - it 'frees' me up from perfectionism as the page already has something 'marking' it. And yes, definitely more energetic too! 😍
Thank you Evie. A very pleasurable video. Why did you so vehemently say you hated a particular street scene almost at the very start, as you were saying that, I was thinking how much I liked it. You were quite harsh on yourself, but I understand. It can’t be easy showing your work to the world. The vibe I got from the video though, was your joy in colour and play, coupled with a little frustration at your shortened available time for Art. Things will calm down very soon, and perhaps you can take a short break from your channel to chill, and simply enjoy playing once more? Your audience won’t vanish on you. As ever, you and your love of colour and play make me smile in the best way! Thank you, I appreciate you. 🎨👩🏻🎨🖌️👍🏻🤗
Ah, thanks Anita! I think when I am so vehement, it is because it hasn't come out at all like I imagined it would. It's a disconnect between what I would like to be achieving and the skill level I currently have not allowing me to achieve it. 😬 But, I have always been a perfectionist, and it is this habit of expecting everything to be perfect that holds me back. It's why I started this channel to be honest Anita - it means no matter how 'bad' I think my work is, I'm committing to sharing it and therefore perfection needs to be dropped. At beats, my idea of perfection, because that too is subjective isn't it? One person's perfect is another person's 'meh'... 😬 But thank you - I think it is the joy of playing and color that makes me love art so much, and resentful of the time that is taken away from it. David called me from work yesterday and I was so short tempered... and we realized that I haven't done anything creative for myself since the book deadline started approaching, and it is really having an impact mentally. Fascinating how we can rely on art as a way to stay 'balanced' in life isn't it? Anyhow, I've waffled on - sorry! Thank you for always being here Anita to have a chinwag with. 😘 Big hugs - and have a lovely weekend! ❤️
The sketchbook is also a portrait of your ADD. lol. I think it might be worth going page by page and seeing where finishing things will go…. Best to you 🌸
Hi Eve. I think i actually prefer unedited videos. They're honest and refreshing. We all have tummy rumbles and sips of coffee! I must ask, how many Patreons do you have memberships to lol!!?? They'll send you broke! I do enjoy your black ink line art style too. Great sketchbook. Cheers x Nell.
Ah, thank you Nell! 😎 I'm sacred to admit how many patterns I have joined.. I should probably cut back down while I'm not able to spend time in them at the moment... But, at last count (she says after opening up her Patreon account) I'm in 5 paid art Patreons, 1 paid corsetry Patreon, 3 free art patreons and 1 urban sketching membership. Oops.... 🤣
@@eviedivadoodles lol, that's not so bad! If you enjoy them 😅😅😊 I think, ahhh, think I am in 3 .... I know I got rid of the more expensive ones. To each their own! Anyway, I very much enjoy your posts. Thank you x Nell.
Aww babes u sound so tired! I love your line work in the ink pen drawings. That’s a very me style. I messaged u on instagram a question as I didn’t want to put it on RUclips again. Don’t think you’ve seen it or its gone to junk or something.
