  • Bringing in a character from iClone /Character Creator to Unreal can result in soft cloth issues. I'll show you how to fix it the bug along with several tips.

    I lose about 25fps with this kinda cloth physics setup for hair. Is this normal? Is there a better cheaper way to do hair?

    Hey! So I have Unreal Engine 5 and I imported my character creator 3 character to Unreal via the auto setup live link through iclone but on my end, my cloth paint section is blank and I can't create a cloth with the hair or the clothes. Has something changed with unreal 5?

      I see it from time to time. I ran into the same issue working on the last project for a client, so I made a basic weight map for the hair/cloth inside of Character Creator and did all the adjustments in Unreal. Usually fixes that issue.

      @@4413Media okay, I get what you're saying, so did you do the weight map and all of that before you transferred the character from iclone to unreal? Because yeah, I saw that in iclone, the hair hair doesn't have a weight map so I added it and it added physics to the hair in iclone but when I connected it to live link in unreal it didn't transfer over

    Thank you for the post, I have the same problem you mentioned at the end, after any camera cut, the hair moves like crazy, before it claims down after few seconds.
    I have checked “render warm up frames” but the problem still there. Any other suggestions?

      I would render each camera shot separately and assemble in a NLE. I would render enough frames for the soft cloth to settle.
