    There's a problem though, if you have a translucent object in the foreground of your scene i.e. a crystal, glass or some kind of visual effect and you're doing a focus pull, the translucent object will be blurry when the background behind it is blurry

      Is there a solution to this? This is basically the next logical issue after you set translucency pass to after DOF. And so far we still havent found a fix -.-

    don't forget to change "Opacity Mask Clip Value" lower than opacity in transluscent material details

    In previous engine, not sure about UE 4, but at least in UE 3, there was an options to control DoF quality:
    Simple, Bokeh, Referenced and also enough options to control it in general.
    I had some settings like focal region ( like blur vignette ), far blur and near blur separately.
    Seems there's nothing like this in UE 5 for controlling each dof layer individually, I'm right ? Just to excluding near blur at all and leave only far blur ?

    This sadly doesn’t work for some materials that use blended mode (usually foliage) as the option is greyed out.

      Try, resetting the blending mode to opaque first, and then changing the depth the field. Unreal is dumb sometimes.

    My Dof stopped working totally, everything is in focus no matter what aperture I pick...help? 😢

    Hello, may I ask how you would blur the foreground and make the background in focus? Thank you for this tutorial.

    • @JonJagsNee
      @JonJagsNee  Год назад +1

      What I would do is go into your camera settings and set the minimum aperture to something really small like .005 and then set the aperture on your camera to an aperture less than 1. Works well enough but if you have a really rapid moving camera it might get a little crazy. That should help though :)
