I am an old man that grew up with Star Wars as well and I must say in my personal opinion that The Mandalorian is BY FAR the best things to come out of the Star Wars universe since Empire Strikes Back. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that this is all thanks to Jon Favreau! MUCH RESPECT to that man! As others have commented below, Favreau and his partner in this SHOULD have been the ones to create and direct the Sequels because they all pale in comparison to what they've done here with The Mandalorian. I can not wait till Season 2!
"I didn't create star wars" "You wanna make sure you are servicing it in a way that's respectful to what came before" This man gets it. Unfortunately this is something ignored by the people (KK) who hired Rian Johnson.
How does it feel to learn from a fucking movie that human beings aren't deities and that they're not infallible, especially under enormous pressure? How does it feel to know that your hero is actually a failure in the end? Has it crossed your mind that your hero is human? Grow the fuck up. Thank the Force for Rian Johnson. He removed Star Wars from a box that you idiots put it in. Star Wars can actually convey thought-provoking discussions again about dogma, perspective, and failure rather than entertaining us with mindless pew pews and explosions.
(Kk) - I'm guessing Kathleen Kennedy. The irony with her is that if she'd just stopped meddling/politicising the franchise 'the Force is female' etc, it would have given writers & producers a chance to find their feet. As it was, she packed production and casting crews with her acolytes, causing chaos and all but creatively bankrupted the franchise.

That's all well and good, that sells, and they weren't bad movies at all, but it wasn't Star Trek. And I knew that TFA wasn't gonna be bad...just not great. Hell the story of Kylo Ren is basically the same story as Jacen Solo only way worse.
@@allenroisen2386 I uderstand the "Its not bad, its not great either..." argument. But what do you mean with "It wasn´t Star Trek??" Im sorry, but Im a way bigger ST fan than SW, and I think he captured very well the spirit of the Original Series, while creating something new (Its definetly not ST: TNG, but it is very smilar to TOS). You say "A fast pasted action flick...", and that´s exactly what TOS was, and the later movies even more. And also: No, Kylo Ren is not basically Jacen Solo, they´re very different. Kylo Ren feels a pulse to the light, Jacen doesn´t, he completly forgets his past life like Anakin. Jace was captured by the Yuuzhan, that´s why he turned to the Dark Side, Ben Solo wasn´t captured by anyone. Jocen was a literal Sith, and he had a Sith as a teacher, Kylo didn´t (that we know of). Kylo ren is a doubtful leader, who thinks he´s not up to the task, and who questions himself, Jocen is not any of those things. Kylo Ren is much more compeling and unpredictable as a character for me, honestly. I have NO CLUE of what he´s going to do in TROS (is he going to regret what he has done, and try to help the good guys, or is he going to go more crazy than ever, and kill a bunch of people..?? Is he going to have some sort of love feeling for Rey, or is he gong to hate her guts?? Is he going to stand and give an epic fight, or is he going to be a coward, and kill himself after what he did to his father..?? Is he going to be a badass and lethal leader, or is he going to be a insecure one??) If this character was like Jocen, I would knoe EVERY SINGLE ANSWER to those questions, before I even watched the movie. Do you know what I mean? xDxD I think he is good enough as a fighter and a force user to be a threat, and to give some interesting fight scenes, even if he´s not as strong as Rey (he´s much smarter tho... Rey literally walked into his trap in TLJ). And I also have to say: Getting all the comics and novels out of canon was a mistake, but Kennedy is right about something: They didn´t had a source material for Rogue One, Solo or the new Trilogy. They shoudln´t follow what the old canon did, because that would be a disaster. And I also want to say: John Favreau said the exact same thing about the Mandalorian: "These are all new characters in an intimate story, we have no source material to follow".

Filoni deserves credit, cause He's the heir apparent to George Lucas. The Mandalorian reminds me of a live action version of The Clone Wars, however predicated on Mandalorians, bounty hunter, & scum and villainy, post ROTJ. Filoni was the supervising director/show runner. Various aspects some casual fans are seeing for the first time in The Mandalorian. Were very prevalent in Filoni's Clone Wars and SW Rebel, and even some of the plot points are similar to some of those classic episodes.
Damn! I can't wait to see The Mandalorian next year. Disney should make it available to other streaming services like Netflix. It'd be a win-win situation for them.
RoTJ started the damage Clone Wars was the peak of Lucas mess ups RoTS was his only saving grace and he still wrote Anakin like a whiny baby after the Clone Wars backlash
The Force Awakens was literally designed for the Star Wars fans. Don't you remember how everybody in the "fandom" hated George Lucas for the prequel trilogy? @Derek Mitchell Main character has personality, battle hardened lone ranger type. Body language is there. He had a goal for the first bit, complete guild tasks. He did that. Next goal was internally motivated, save baby yoda. Arguably did that until the finale. The bad guy was never going to look cool anyway, and him outnumbering the heroes isn't going to do much when you're against a mandalorian, ex shock trooper and the guild master unless you have substantial numbers like in the end cliffhanger. Making the guild an antagonist may be a problem, ill agree with you on that with the way they handled it in the finale bit. Everyone is entitled to opinions but what you said wasn't entirely true.

This man gets it.
@@AlmostaFlipinSkater lmfao
last chance blueprint Nahhh, those movies suck ass 😂
(Kk) - I'm guessing Kathleen Kennedy. The irony with her is that if she'd just stopped meddling/politicising the franchise 'the Force is female' etc, it would have given writers & producers a chance to find their feet. As it was, she packed production and casting crews with her acolytes, causing chaos and all but creatively bankrupted the franchise.

@@samfrito the sequels are over so hopefully they don't force anymore garbage movies
If only Rian Jonson had approached Star Wars with this level of care
@blacmagick Rian Johnson only did what Lucasfilms and the fans asked him to do... Not to break it to you, but the people behind this show are the exact same people behind the new movies (same producers, editors, special effects and CGI departments, same studio-heads...) The only difference is the writer and director, and you have to admit, even despite how things turned out, all the previous directors were great choices on paper (Rian Johnson, who did great sci-fi movies like Brick and Looper, people like Lord & Miller, Ron Howard, or JJ Abrahams... Ron Howard and JJ Abrhams as the more "safe" type of directors, great for adventure and big/simple blockbuster movies; and Johnson, Lord & Miller as the more original and modern kind of creators, with a more current type of storytelling). Also people like Lawrence Kasden... Nah, the people involved in previous SW project was great, the problem is the fans, in my opinion.
TFA comes out, and you´re like "This is too similar to A New Hope. Shaaame!" Then, TLJ comes out, and you´re like: "This is too different from the classic trilogy. Shaaame!" When Rogue One comes out, you´re like: "These are all new characters, and I don´t care about them. Boooh!" And then, Solo comes out, and I hear: "Why are they re-using classic characters? What a cheap nostalgia cash-grab! Boooh!" And I bet we don´t have to wait long, till some Mandalorian haters start to pop up online. Some people are already complaining about the episodes being too short, and episode 2 being filler (which it wasn´t). You have to admit, its almost impossible to create a product these days, that won´t trigger a big section of the nerd-community. Specially not with SW.
@@gabrielp9646 "It's almost impossible" no it's actually really easy. Look at the Mandalorian. Badass NEW character, western in space, lots of mystery don't try to explain space magic with "midichlorians" or "father, mother, son" bullshit. It's not the fans' fault that Kathleen Kennedy can't seem to do anything right other than let Favreau and Filoni direct this show. I mean hell, if they ever bothered to throw out a bone to SW fanbase, a mention of Revan here, Delta Squad there. people would appreciate it.
I'd wager money that in this show they at least mention Exar Kun considering his ties to mandalorians, and you can't tell me fans won't go crazy over that.
@@gabrielp9646 Solo wasn't bad, just unnecessary in my opinion. And JJ Abrams, well...I knew it wasn't gonna turn out ok after Star Trek. When he did Star Trek, he showed me at least that he wasn't a real fan of Star Trek, and wanted to make a fast paced action flick. That's all well and good, that sells, and they weren't bad movies at all, but it wasn't Star Trek. And I knew that TFA wasn't gonna be bad...just not great.
KK also makes terrible decisions regarding the EU and that's what most fans get angry about. Retcon the entirety of it, then literally say "we don't have any source material to work with when we're writing movies, unlike the MCU or GoT". WHAT??
@@gabrielp9646 its political agenda/pandering that screws with every thing. Leave that crap out of the movies.

The Force Awakens was literally designed for the Star Wars fans. Don't you remember how everybody in the "fandom" hated George Lucas for the prequel trilogy? The hate against George Lucas by the fans was so much that Disney made sure The Force Awakens would appease them. Then The Last Jedi did the opposite to balance the trilogy.
