The clip with the HAAG Drug store was the early 1960's. I grew up over there. The Gateway Plaza opened in 1960. It was a "bomb" back then, and it still is to this day. It was simply much too large, for the volume of business at hand. There were many storefronts in that mall that were never even occupied from the start. Just look at the video. There was a huge gap between the Woolworth, and Millers department store. There was a Maloley's grocery store that opened next to Haag's later, but also a Marsh grocery opened about the same time, on the other side of Millers department store. Marsh failed first, then later Woolworths, Maloley's and Haag Drugs. When Millers department store closed, a bowling alley opened in that space. I left that area in 1973, but I can say from driving by, that mall has never amounted to much.
Hi there. I am trying to put together a documentary about Fort Wayne broadcasting legend Julia Meek. In the documentary she mentions Fort Wayne in the 50s, and I was looking for footage to add to the documentary. Do you have licensing information about this footage? Do you own it? I would like to use it but want to ensure that I am within legal bounds and have the owner's permission.
It's odd, it shows on the back end but not on the storefront. Try the two links below. Also, I forgot to mention the previous referral link I provided gives you 20% off. Thanks. www.pond5.com/stock-footage/item/241051150-1950s-drive-through-fort-wayne-indiana-street-scenes www.pond5.com/stock-footage/item/241051711-1950s1960s-shopping-center-parking-lot-haag-woolworths-mille

Dam I wish I was younger 🥺
I'm almost ashamed to say I remember most of these places. LOL
I saw a 1960 Impala convertible...
Pretty cool
It looks like the early 1960s to me as I see a 1960 Ford in the film.

Fifties and sixties were both great: simpler, more patriotic times.
"The good old days weren't always good and tomorrow's not as bad as it seems."
Patriotic? I think you mean racist (whites only)
That’s easy for white folks to say!!! I wish Blacks felt the same smh…..
@@darmar6895 "supposedly" it's never been a good time for the Blacks! It's what you make of it....nothing more...nothing less
"Patriotic" and "Racist" often go hand in hand.
