Something you missed with MW3: the extended mags glitch. Back on launch, extended mags for shotguns gave you 50% more ammo, but also 50% more PELLETS PER SHOT. Meaning, instead of 9 pellets per shot, it had 13. A ~50% increase in damage just from the accessory of the gun, PLUS the damage/range proficiency, and it was a 1-shot machine.
When they released akimbo for the pistols, the .357 akimbo snakeshot was ABSURD in hardcore playlists. I went 74-5 with them in one match, the death comms were gold.
Another thing about the MW3 Striker is that Extended Mags originally gave each shot +50% pellets, plus you could stack the Damage and Range weapon perks on it with Specialist. Thing was nutty

Another surprise is, lsat with target finder wasn't included either. As for the threats, if I was him, I'd double down on it (not the gun, but quickscoping in general). If they want close range 1-shot kills, they can take a shotgun instead.
I think the UMP 45 replaced the akimbo model 1887 as the most broken gun in MW2 after it was patched because it had an insane range and damage even though the accuracy wasn't that great shooting at bursts made it very accurate. Coupled with Commando, Cold Blooded and Ghost it turned anyone into a rushing assassin

The Akimbo FMG-9 were more overpowered simply because they took way longer to patch than the Striker, and the FMG-9 were utilized much more than the striker and had much more range. You could legitimately snipe with them if you had steady aim on with how accurate they were.
Xcal's Onlyusemestriker series will show you the absolute beauty of the prenerf striker. Also, if you put the damage proficiency on the striker you would get 50% more pellets.

The FAL OSW got nerfed and banned from competitive because of select fire making it a 3-round burst COD4: M16. The way it needed to be nerfed was remove the select fire attatchment. Even after the nerf. The FAL was my favorite gun in BO2 and was all I ever used. Semi-auto for life!!!
In mw 2019 I would have sed mp5 10mm convertion kit. It wasn't nerfed until the recent update and it was basically an AR that shot fast. Now it has less damage, range, damage range and more recoil.

The base Striker had 6 pellets. Unless you were using Extended Mags, it never fired 9 pellets.
Also the shotgun attachment on the CM901 that somehow increased its fire rate.
