    I believe you can get extra long spouts for then to chop right into trucks like the self-propelleds. . .I'm amazed at how that 44 pulled the chopper, must be turned up a few turns!

      Takes another truck or 2, and driver's that can pull up on the "off" side and not hit anything. 😮🤣

      If it was turned up much it would be making more smoke than that. He's getting 4 rows bit he's only going about 1.5 maybe 2 mph we did 2 rows with our 7810 and 6-7 mph so we were still getting almost twice as much done in half as many rows.

I said to my Dad that maybe she should get one of these and do custom chopping. He might actually be thinking about it if the price is right..... It always comes down to is the price right. We had a 2430 basically same chopper only with the jd knife drum and green paint. With a 3row head behind a 7930 and it could have used more hp in good corn. Way easier backing under the dump wagon then pulling in thats how we always did it. Good video mike thanks for sharing

      Agreed, way easier to back into the dump box. It's difficult to see anything pulling into it forward. We have a 2430 also, have pulled it with a JD 7810, and 8110, and the chopper could handle more HP.

      Based on video they didn’t look like they was running much ground speed, that and it looked pretty flat ground too. I imagine you put the 4455 on some hilly terrain it would really work the snot out of it. Also not sure if the Dion had a processor on it to make sure the kernels got cracked.

    • @mikep7810
      @mikep7810  3 месяца назад

      There is a couple factors that goes into his speed. He has a 4 row chopper in really good corn and he is also using a tractor that is on the lower side of the horsepower rating for this chopper. Like Will said, he is actually chopping at the same speed that he chops with his FP240 with a higher horsepower tractor. This chopper is rated to take up to a 300 HP tractor so if they were running a higher HP tractor he could probably pick up a little more speed

  • @randybennett5417

    Wonder how many horsepower ya have to have to run that four row chopper ?

    • @mikep7810
      @mikep7810  3 месяца назад

      On Dion's website the horsepower rating for this chopper is 120-300. I don't know what the neighbors have the 4455 set at but its handling the 4 row good on the lower side of the chopper horsepower rating

      Can’t blame them, for no more than they sell and the fact they were such an old design for modern power, partnering with Dion was the sensible choice. I hear this year is the last for New Holland pull choppers, so I reckon for new pull types Dion will be the only ones left.
