New artist for me...loved his style! As a West Texas boy, I love it when an artist is able to capture a glimpse of life out here. Yeah, it can be harsh but there's a magic and a freedom like no other place. The Panhandlers explain it pretty well with their song "West Texas is the Best Texas".
@@RockN2Country Funny you mention names...my son's wife just found out she is expecting and my son and I have been throwing out names. Braxton was one, as well as Weston, Wyatt, Landon, and my favorite Colton. Haven't come up with any girl names yet...
@@davidemswiler4351 LOL on the no-girl-names thing! If you've seen the movie "Bustin' Loose" with Richard Pryor and Cicely Tyson, the name Braxton features prominently, and, as Richard Pryor is wont to do, hilariously.
Yeah, this is a really good song, as Jacob said. The lyrics paint a clear picture and it's a very interesting one. I agree that his style has some similarity to Coulter Wall, but it's distinctive in its own right. Great request Jak, thanks so much! And thanks Don for another great reaction!
Hi Don, a new one and a very interesting song. Great descriptive lyrics. Definitely had a Colter Wall feel to it both in the cadence of hi rep very and some of his enunciations. Thanks Jak for a great request and Don for a wonderful reaction.---#UTRCM
A bit late to the party, I know, but my friend showed me this song years ago and recently I’ve fallen in love with it again. The songwriting is beautiful and almost cryptic. To me, the lyrics are very metaphorical and are essentially likening oil veins to the blood of demons, hence the first verse; and the fact that once humankind tapped into it, nothing can be the same. “They gave us fame, wealth and power and it’s payed out by the hour. You take it, son, there ain’t no turning back!” I love the biblical and industrial analogy this paints. In the song he seems to be acknowledging the blessing and the curse that oil discovery has brought upon the world. Think of how amazing oil has been in the development of society and industry, but also the COUNTLESS atrocities that have been committed in its very name. Worldwide! Borderline biblical! This song is a beautiful masterpiece in my opinion, even referring to the angels mourning when we made the monumental discovery, knowing the glory and evil we were unknowingly tapping into when we first discovered oil. Great reaction!
That was really good. Yeah as he sang I could visualize the hellscape that's that part of Texas. Yep that's an area of Texas I'm never fond of going through

@David Emswiler I was wondering if this one would resonate with you, not only lyrically but instrumentally. Also, "Braxton" is a pretty cool name. Ha!
