They use to have the can can sale every January at a grocery store in NY,Shop rite, but unfortunately it stopped a few years ago.😭😭
You really need to buy a pressure canner, and can your meats, I used to be scared of pressure canning but after researching it and watching a few great canners, and reading the booklet, I'm 2 years into pressure canning and I love it. It is time consuming but once you get 3 or 4 canners of food on your shelf, it becomes normal as waterbath canning.
I wish we had these case lot sales here in Canada.
@@AC-sn5io My problem is that I need to research it first, maybe a book might help. But sounds like a great idea, thank you.Do you suggest getting equipment from Amazon.
@@conniefunk2196 check out rose red Homestead she has a PHD in science and she is a huge prepper canner and gives wonderful wonderful information
My husband puts in a large garden. Last year he went up to pick tomatoes, 76 plants, I was getting set up at home. Someone helped themselves to all the tomatoes that were ready. So sad, because we share with anyone who wants fresh produce. They were clumsy going through the plants because some were damaged. Helped themselves to corn when that was ready and weren't careful there either. This year, I might have to camp up there!!! He enjoys putting in the garden and sharing the bounty with anyone. There"s just the 2 of use and our son and his family get some also, but there is always extra to share.
Ah that's awful this year it'll be worse so please be careful !!
Sad, but it will get worst. We have 3 raised beds in our backyard but garden in a pretty large plot in the senior community garden. I’m wondering how long it will be before people try to get over the fence, even with barbed wire at the top.
I watched someone grab a bunch of grapes, that were not ready thankfully they did not rip them off the vine, and quickly walked away when they heard my door open up, that night my husband put a metal mesh across so no one can pick them.
That is disgraceful behaviour. How awful for you.
Sounds like you need motion detector cameras and no trespassing signs.
I think you should add gas prices also. Soup might be on a better sale at Walmart but if you have to travel further to only get a couple of items then you have to decide if driving further is worth saving a few pennies.
Glad to see someone sharing the tips that I grew up with in the 80s & 90s. Growing up poor raised by a single mom she taught me this and grew a garden and always bought extras when on sale so that the money would stretch further. Even now that I'm not able work due to illness people are surprised that I can stretch my money & wonder how I do it better with less than they have.
In north Dakota... its called a truckload sale......
I do all of the same things. And people say I'm nuts. I save so much
I wish we had case lot sales around me! I love that idea
This is my second time watching. After the first time I made a list of my own and realized I wasn't buying enough of our favorite meals. So I went and bought more and am still buying more. How dumb can I get? Thanks for the great tips.
Well you did it now Kimmy!!, I have always bought a little extra of this or that but with the rising prices of food and me watching your videos, I went and started my extra food storage. I started by taking stock of and making a list of what's in my freezers and pantry. Then I made a shopping list of what we used most in recipes and another list of what we were completely out of, then I went shopping. I now have cases of canned goods and extras of a lot of items we use daily.
Thank you for the help and guidance Kimmy, for the lists and suggestions.
Blessings~ Sherri
Kim your videos have been so helpful in building my food storage. My husband still doesn't quite understand what I'm doing but he's slowly coming on board, especially since his standard go to food items have been going up about 8% from one week to the next. I'm talking more like perishable food items. I'm trying freezing shredded cheese for the first time this week. It was buy one get one for shredded mozzarella and I make cheese sticks pretty regularly. We don't have a case lot sale here in NYC but one store does have a can goods sale in January and July. It wasn't very good this January but I was able to stock up on canned veggies and tuna.
Depends on the name brand item and what I am doing. If I do Campbell’s soup to eat is what I prefer but in a casserole the brand is not as important.
Girl!!!! I was recording yesterday for a backing pantry video. I was cut off at Walmart and was able to record being told not only are items being limited but # of transactions. Please check it out. As you very well know we can’t buy or wouldn’t buy everything in bulk.
FYI!!! I seriously love watching you!
Enjoyed your YT today on buying in bulk. I think we are back to the way my Mother and Father shopped at all of the different stores in our home town again, to get a good deal. I take along my husband his mind is adding machine and I let him tell me if it is a good buy or not in price. I have not seen any of my stores have the 10 for 10 like it use to and the only place to buy a half case items or a case here are the BIG LOT STORES (Costco and Sam's). Thank you for all the good information it is needed at this time with every thing going one. Stay safe till the next time and will be looking for the brown paper bag sealing YT.
We do not have Case lot sales in Alabama wish we did
Good Morning family 🌅 and Happy Saturday ❤️
We don't have case lots in the UK at all, but sometimes Lidl (Similar concept to Aldi, some US states have Lidl but I've never seen anybody talk about it, probably half of our shopping comes from Lidl) do a kind of 'build a box' type sale with pasta sauces and such since they don't take most of the shelf stable goods out of the delivery boxes they come in, just take the plastic off and shelve it, the concept is that if that brand of pasta sauces have four types of sauce at the same price and those boxes they come in contain 12 jars each, you can take one of those boxes, fill it with 12 jars of pasta sauce of any combination of types and you will get some kind of a discount because you're buying by the box. Closest thing I've seen to a case lot sale here.
It fascinates me that liquid canned or boxed stock is more common in the US, here in the UK boxed stock is typically pretty rare and way more expensive than 'stock cubes', which is what the US calls 'Bullion' pressed into the same size of one of the little pats of butter you might get in a restaurant, wrapped in paper or foil and sold in packs of 6 through to 10 depending on brand, which you then add direct to a dish or dissolve in water akin to Bullion. In my local supermarket, Tesco, 10 own brand stock cubes (each cube making 1/2 a pint of stock) costs 50 pence, whereas 1/2 pint of liquid stock costs £1.50, so that's 30 times more expensive than 1/2 pint of stock made using a stock cube! Does Bullion work out cheaper for you too?
The cubes and powder are common here, but they always have partially hydrogenated oils so health conscious people avoid them.
Wow.. I wish we had case lot sales in IN.. but I am making a big garden and planning to can a bunch and freeze some too
So true about looking at best buy dates. We bought 12 cans of pork and beans and they expired in two months. Used some to make burritos just to freeze.
Helpful tip for Walmart. Cashiers are allowed to give discounts on damaged goods. You can get anywhere from 10-50% off depending on the item, the cashier, etc. For example, that flat with the damaged can, you would get at least 10% off the entire flat, not just the one can. Even if you have to throw that can out, you still save money.
the list:
1. 0:40 meal plan
2. 2:10 take inventory
3. 2:46 do your homework
4. 3:59 check the isles
5. 5:08 compare brands
6. 5:40 check expiration dates
Thanks for the time stamps 🙏
you are lucky to have stores that have case lot sales- we have none where i live- with your large family you best stay living where you're at!
Just a few years ago Winco, in my area had case lot sale in September preparedness month, but they stop around 4 years ago now they just stareted it up again in March, I don't know how long it will go but will keep buying until it's over.
Hello Kimmy! You always have the best advice for buying in bulk and food storage ☺️👍🏻. Have a great day today!!!!🌷🌱🌷🌱🌷🌱🌷🌱🌷🌱🌷🌱
Thanks Donna!!!! ❤️
fab bulk buying to save money during uncertain times. xxx
We don't have case sales, but most of Walmart's canned vegetables are still $.50/can, so I buy a case of 12 every now and then. Saving money on those items allows me to have the money to buy the ones that cost more.
My mom and I can’t drive anymore so when we get a ride to the store we sometimes buy for the month. Between 1-3 of anything. I set up racks to hold the groceries and some pots and pans. I recently removed stuff I hadn’t used in years and stocked tp in case we can’t find in the future. Mostly I have a working pantry and not really long term food storage.
I wish they would do this here in Florida
Do you have videos of all your top recipes? If not I would love a series on that. After being married for almost 19 years I just feel in a slump of what to cook for dinner. Especially with prices going up I need more casseroles, soups, pasta dishes etc to cook for our large family.
I wish we had a lot sale too here in Oklahoma... I will look into it! I am working on my stock food storage now!!👍
Wish we had case lot sales here. The only time of year I can really stock up like that is the Thanksgiving sale at Kroger every year....
I don’t think we do that here either...
I don’t ever see “Case lot sales” either.
Thanksgiving sales are some of the best sales all year.
I wish our grocery stores had case lot sales here but they don't. We only have Wal-Mart and Albertsons. Case lot sales is SO the easiest way to stock up.
We got chickens yesterday 🐤🐤🐤🐤 They are so cute. Can't wait for them to get bigger so we can put them in there chicken coop. Have a blessed Sunday Kimmy and Fam💗
No case lots sale here in GA. Def wish we did.
I'm jealous...you have "case lot sales" and my store has empty shelves
You’re seeing empty shelves right now? I’m so sorry!
@@shesinherapron yeah, but God provides.
Hey my lovely yt Sister! Been catching up on your videos after being Mia due to life lol. Enjoyed all these great tips! Wow I always enjoy your inventory! I wish I had a quarter of your space lol. Tfs! Hugs,Love and Many Blessings 🏠♥️🏠♥️🏠♥️
This is very helpful----if I had any store with a case lot sale. Here in North Central Florida I haven't heard of any store that offers that. Sigh.
Fantastic video! Sadly we don't have case lot sales here, and the only bulk places are in the big cities. I love the aesthetics of your pantry it's so comforting!
You also have to be flexible with your brands also. I have learned that I love Rao’s but at $9.00 a bottle I have to make the decision if I want to spend more for taste or be kind to my wallet.
Do you go to Costco? Rao is $5/each at Costco! :)
Yes I just recently found that out. I bought several at Safeway the other day on sale and they were $4.99 so I scooped them up. Thanks for letting me know though. It really helps me to save money when people give you input like yours. :)
After watching this I researched DISCOUNT grocery stores. Found one 40 minutes away. Field trip Friday!
💃🏼
Thanks Kimmie! Great video🥰
Wow! You are so awesome at getting the deals & keeping your pantry full. I like how you plan your meals, too. Tootles
Hi , I’ll have to try this for my pantry sounds really great . I like having can goods stocked ahead so I don’t have to run out for something . I do stock ahead when on sale . But I think I can do better . You have really great ideas Ty , Sharon 🙋🏻♀️😊👍👌
I like mixing the canned green beans with canned potatoes i don't drain them, is a fast side dish.
That's the way my grandmother made them, seasoned with bacon 🥓 grease 😋
Do you also read ingredients during your comparison? Quality matters too
Wish we had case lot sales here in Nebraska...no such luck! I have a large family and finding good deals around here is very hard to come by. Im always looking for sales and deals to stock up!
Unfortunately in my area, our store that usually does caselot sales, quit doing them. Mid-Michigan🙋
I am in Michigan as well. Was it your smaller hometown store? I am just curious. I have never seen our Meijer do them or we have Harding’s too.
But her case prices too similar to a Save-A-Lot.
😊thank you for sharing. We don’t have case lot sales near me here in Michigan that I know of so I watch for sales on can goods as they fall seasonally. Holiday time is when you can find better deals on some can goods. But truthfully the same ones rotate on sale about every 6 weeks. So I grab 6 or so of what we need.
With inflation though pry better to grab the case of a few of our favorites at the next sale.
Love that pantry. Wish we had case lot sales here.
We are blessed here in Utah in that we have several stores that do caselot sales numerous times during the year. But like Kimmy said, if you find a good deal on items at your local store (canned, baking, frozen etc.), create your own caselot sale and stock up on the things your family will use. 😉
I live in Iowa and I've never seen a case lot sale here...jealous you have that!
Good Morning ☀️
Hello! I love this video. I've never heard of a case lot sale, but definitely watch for losest prices. My question is how to store my bulk. I don't have a basement. I have a decent sized pantry and can probably use a extra linen closet I have upstairs but other than that I don't have the space. I'm also trying to find a garage ready freezer, but they are hard to come by right now. I will also be trying my hand at gardening this year and am hoping that goes well. Thanks for your great videos, can't wait to see more of them.
These are awesome tips. I have been working on our food storage from your videos
I wish we had stores like yours in the U.K. Have you notices the toilet rolls have also gotten smaller, less paper on the roll and thinner and not as soft and yet where paying a lot more money for less We used to get a lot of what’s called bog off sales Buy one get one free I have not seen any of those ether
Never see case lot sales in CT.
Kimmy, you need your own cookbook!!
Do you know when the next case lot sales are?
My biggest advice is to grow, harvest and forage for what you can first of all. Then, don't be greedy, add what your family needs to your food storage and some more, just in case. Be mindful of rotating things, buying what your family actually enjoys, not just what you see someone do online. Rely on basics rather than prepackaged this and that whenever possible. Finally, share generously with those you know are in need. We're all in this together. :-)
Amen!!
Thank you so much for your heartfelt answer, your kindness has come through.I agree with you and I'm learning.I will see what I can donate to my local pantry,of course I will be sure it's not expired.❤️❤️🤗🤗Hugs and thank you.
Awesome video. Absolutely right! It's hard to build up 3+ months and have anything close to the ratio you need. I may end up w 100 extra of 1 ingredient and run out of another.
I did vacuum seal flour, 7 cups per bag, before the price spike 2 weeks ago. Up 50% in a week for both bread and all purpose
How do you vacuum seal flour? Just in the vacuum seal bags? I just stocked up on flour and now need to figure how to store it. Was going to get some food safe buckets, but the vacuum sealer sounds good too.
@@danij6373 Best video I watched a few years ago from, "our half acre homestead" channel. Search the channel and you'll find it, from like 6 yrs ago. But you need to measure into a paper lunch sack, then fold it over. This is because you don't want the flour to get sucked into your vac machine. Don't seal the bag- just fold it over. I put like 6 cups in each quart size bag. Most bread recipes are like 3-4 cups... Hope this helps!
@@danij6373 You can also seal it up in the bag it comes in, for like 2 or 5 lb packages. Just cut one small slit, like 1/4", at the top, where the writing is, and it will seal just fine, and prevent the flour from getting into the sealer mechanism.
@@laurieasmus9998 thank you very much. I'll check out that video as well.
Where are you finding case lot sales? None of the grocery stores in North Florida doesn't have them.
Another great video! Thank you!!
I cannot find any 59 cents canned goods in Hawaii lol 😂 everything is very expensive here 😬 but thank you for making this video ❤️
The Great value soups only come in a few flavors, but they are actually better tasting than Campbell’s, and the expiration dates are further out because everyone buys the Great Value brand.. half the price
Where did you get your purse? Love your videos get a lot of meal ideas🤗
Great tips.
I've never seen any case lot sales on tinned food in the UK.
Just curious, do you also make meals just from the tins that you have stored? Like tinned meat, potatoes & veggies?
I don’t think I have ever seen case sakes here in the Los Angeles area.
These videos are really helping out family of ten more than you know. THANK YOU! ((HUGS))
I’m so glad!!!
Where do you find case lot sales?
I'm very sorry that happened to you after all of your husband's hard work. Especially given the sharing nature that you and your husband have. I wonder if some signs that tell the thief to smile for the hidden cameras would help. Sadly, I agree with some of the comments that such incidents of garden theft will likely increase with coming food shortages.
Do you use the Thrive Life tomato products?
New subscriber here. I love your videos. I want to follow you.
I have a question: What about storage space? I have none. Also, could you please do a video about freezer storage foods?
I think I could learn much from you but storage is a big problem that I only know how to deal with if someone else needs the same items as do I-split the order.
Thanks for sharing this and all you do. 😘
Where did you get your shelves at? I love them!
Forget about case lot sales, we don't get sales like you get in the US here in Ireland!! No coupons like you get there either 😟
Use these tips for shopping any sales.
Our current caselot round was very disappointing. There was literally nothing in the Smith’s ad that was a good deal. They basically came in close to the Walmart prices.
I wish we had the case sales here in IL. Thanks for sharing.
Technically we do. They are not called that, but think about when things go on sale like around the holidays. I see green beans for $0.49, soups for $0.69, etc. That's when you stock up.
@@mariaolker yes, I guess you're right. I do shop my sales and stock up when prices are cheap. It just sounds like the "case lot sales" are better and they offer more. I guess we do with what we have though right. :)

Walmart honestly is the cheapest for most people across America! It’s definitely a great tip to compare other store’s sales to Walmart.
What stores have case sales?
I love case lot sales but where I live- there aren’t many.
Do you have a master list of food storage recipes shared anywhere? I'm building my stockpile, but need ideas for what recipes to make with it.

You’re so welcome!
Live in AZ and we don't ever have case lot sales.. so jealous
Make sure you have room to store the items you find in Bulk Sales! it's always a shame if you buy some "great deals" and don't have room to store them at home...FYI: I learned this the hard way!
Kim I really enjoy your videos but unfortunately they don’t have case lot sales where we live. The closest I can get to that is to just buy a lot of a canned good if they go on sale. Unfortunately there haven’t been very many of those since the pandemic started. Recently they did have a buy one get one free on canned tomatoes. Unfortunately the price has gone up considerably.
Does driving around to each store cancel out the savings? I have a XL Yukon Denali, so driving around town is killer on gas efficiently. For that reason, I just go to one place.
Thank you for all of this useful information! Walmart was cheaper on the items I thought were a great deal!
Kimmy,
When do you anticipate the flour storage video coming out. I’m about to try to long term store some. I’ve got the Mylar bags and oxygen absorbers but got some reason I feel very hesitant about it all. Do you freeze your flour first? Thanks!
I just stocked up on flour and when I researched how to store I read to freeze for 2 days to kill anything in it and then you can put in the pantry in a airtight storage.
@@danij6373 You have to freeze 2 or 3 days, leave out 2-3 days and freeze again 2-3 days. Remember, the first freeze is for current insects, once thawed, it tricks eggs to hatch. The 2nd freeze kills the hatched insects.
