After a day of teaching my 1st grade gems, I always like winding down with a nice Irish video. I never get tired of Ireland! Yet, another beautiful video with the blue, waves, picturesque town of Baltimore. Plus, I like that scenic drive at the end of the video. Putting all of these great places in my mind to visit. Hopefully, sooner than later. 🙂

@@nakedireland Nonsense, it's lovely. Took me three words then it all rolled right in my brain noodle port.
On another note, your commenters are quite fantastic.
Yet you have a bunch of early commenting troll bots, a badge of honor I guess, usually indicating you disturb a hostile state actor's agenda, nowadays social-media equivalent of seashore plastic accumulation; but unlike this plastic, it's hard to think of a constructive way to recycle, repurpose or make any sort of constructive use of them... things!
I find you most patient and kind with them and wouldn't think of disturbing this "toxic waste", lurking under the ocean floor mud, being slowly digesting and forgotten by time itself for the insignificant pollution that they are.
Now, you can go on and tell me I'm harsh! Your nice ways suit you very well. Making me feeling like leaving things exactly as they are; but for this one long strange reply. I'll behave from now on, I promise.

That was fantastic Greg! What a great wee jaunt around Ireland your having!!! Striking how clean Irish towns and villages are! Im related by marriage to the O'Driscoll Clan, and very proud of it! There is a rumour that the head of Clan O'Driscoll conspired to have the Enlish settlers kidnapped, due to their occupation of the Clan Lands. Desmond Esk's book " The stolen village " is a great resource for the history of the event. Ive headed out to Cape Clear from Baltimore, that whole coastline is outstanding. Back in the early eighties there were fewer cars on the roads. Road bowls are a local sport to try and catch up on, my brother inlaw was a keen participant. Slavery was the largest and most dominant driver of the World economy. Its still a dark stain and active source of income and wealth throughout the Planet.

I did notice 👍 The story of Richard Joyce and the Claddagh ring makes the whole period something you can touch!! The description of the Harbour Wall of Algiers is one of nightmare. And the Algerian corsair raid on Iceland, horrific and yet, a turning of the tables on a slaving economy and culture.

@@nakedireland Vikings pillaged the North African coast , then on to Sicily, and Constantinople, and back again! The group who raided Iceland were lead by an English pilot who was enslaved and had a forced conversation to Islam. But he profited handsomely from it a took part in the Baltimore raid. This raid on Iceland is remembered by Icelanders for its brutality, viscous killings and swiftness. And don't Imagine Richard Joyce was off to drink Pina Coladas in the Bahamas!! In the 1600's the Carrabian Isles were home to the sugar/slave trade.

"Overrun with North Africans." You gotta love the lack of specification.
Like, what North Africans? Egyptians? Berbers? Moroccans? Ethiopians? Although, if I'm perfectly honest it's surprising they even knew they were from Africa. Chances are the locals assumed the vikings were back and they had been on vacation.
