The way in which she was selected for the Olympics is coming under severe scrutiny! If Raygun had done this in a humor/arts category in a non-Olympic setting there would be no problem, her performance was seriously hilarious, but the fact that she took an Olympic spot from someone with actual breakdancing talent is something that the people involved in this must be held accountable for.
I'd call that move, 'The burning centipede' haha. Walk down to Sydney's, Darling Harbour ANY given day and you will see really talented kids dancing for fun to K pop and hip hop.
She was given $20,000 of our Tax payer dollars to study the dance scene in Sydney and wrote a nonsense paper about it. Our tax payer dollars also funded her nice holiday in Paris for 2 weeks. Also her husband ran the group that just happened to be judging the qualification competition that got her into the Olympics.
This is what occurs when you remove shame from society. Twenty years ago, society as a whole would have collectively gasped at the thought of a PhD in “cultural movement”. We no longer demand excellence in today’s education system.
The system is the problem, not her. If someone said to you here's $20k for doing something and a trip to the Olympics, you ain't saying, "Oh no, but the tax payers won't be happy."

I am from Russia and did breakdance from 1st to 7th grade. Our team was one of the best in Russia at that time (2007-2013). We did a lot of contest all around Europe and even world contests in US and Australia. There were literally children from Australia who were really really good. No way this woman is the best dancer they could have chosen, it is 100% corruption on some level
her husband is the selector and wormed his way as the national coach, so they scammed a free trip to Paris and a pay check for her husband, "ray gunn" is a gender studies lecture and PHD in modern dance, does this explain things?
She didn't tho. it was never meant to be a recurring event and it already wasn't scheduled for the 2028 Olympics. the host country get to choose some events not part of the core Olympics disciplines and break dancing was one of France's choice. The US choice for the 2028 Olympics hosted in LA is Lacrosse, flag football, baseball and cricket.
As an Aussie, I think I speak for over 99% of the population when I say that we don't claim her, and she was 100% a DEI hire. There are 100's, if not 1,000's of much more talented female break dancers in this country that wouldn't have made us a laughing stock around the world, and I offer a sincere apology on behalf of Australia for this eye wateringly bad performance.
I watched a RUclips video from a US older break dancer who competes. He said there is very little few female breakdancers that compete in the world. He showed all the lead up trials for Rachael against Holy Molly and Hannah. Raygun was actually better than her olimpic performance but not better than the other competitors for the most part. The judges were from all over. Its interesting to see another take on it all from someone in breaking. He also said her reaction to the media was the worst thing she should do. She could actually make it a positive for bringing breaking out more.
I'm an over 50yr old, male, fat, unhealthy (heart condition), Australian, ex-competitive breaker from back in the day (80's). For the $200k it cost us tax payers to send this "breaker" to the Olympics, I woulda come out of my 30+ year retirement, identified as female, rolled around on the floor while trying to remember my old routine, and gone for the gold! I couldn't do any worse.....
I'm thankful for Raygun for bringing me closer to my teenage daughter, who turned to me after stacking the dishwasher and asked in a sassy voice, "Is there anything else I have to do?" To which I responded, "Yes, learn to breakdance like a kangaroo." We literally couldn't stop laughing, as we tried out her moves. It really brightened up our evening lol.
as an Aussie, not a single person is supporting her, the media always says its 50/50 like/hate, but I haven't seen a single person that doesn't hate her.
As an Australian I am pissed at "Raygun". Australia did incredibly well at the Olympics coming 4th on the gold medal tally, but this idiot has over shadowed the hard work our athletes have done to qualify to go to the Olympics.
I went and looked up the finials for the Olympic selection that raygun won , truthfully she gave a much better performance then what we seen at the Olympics but i think the other woman was much better. Also this was the nationals for the olympics and only 15 women qualified out the whole country.
And to think NAB will only allow you to become a manager if you have a degree...the mind boggles at the thought of the goings-on at their Head Office these days! 😅😅😅
She's dressed like a Subway employee who can't find her job again after a break. Now every time I see a Subway employee I'm going to imagine them doing breakdancing, or whatever you call that thing she did.
every time I see a subway employee, I remember my old boss who worked as a manager there... she beat the living **** out of a customer that was so beyond racist and misogynistic that he would have made a sailor blush, or at least question if they are having a stroke; He said something to the effect that she is a black woman only able to take orders and make sandwiches or what not, and after calmly clocking out, walking around the counter, and wailed on him, she was arrested and released with the case immediately being thrown out with a laugh. She became my boss later, a god damn tiger mom with an exceptional work ethic and no fear to fire customers that lack basic decency.
As an Australian I am embarrassed, we actually had people in Melbourne trying to raise money to get into the Olympics for breakdancing..... But our government chose her..... and now they are calling us intolerant for speaking out against this. Our PM leader of our country is commending her for the "Australian spirit" for having a crack..... What the He'll, no, just no
Ahahahaha, I can't. They just removed my comment for "hate speech" because I said that OTHER people are amazingly talented and she cheated herself into the Olympics. Let's see if this comment lasts
She made us a laughing stock for the world..meanwhile it's overshadowed the gold medallists accomplishments for winning breakdancing & the fact that Arisa Trew (who is also Australian) was the youngest gold medallist for skateboarding..she's an embarrassment to us all!!
Except that it actually does, in this moment. Australia has become an embarrassing woke, socialist country and your leaders chose this mentally ill woman to represent your country. If you don't like it, change your leaders. Fix the mentally ill.
As an Aussie we also hate her, we came 4th this year with the amount of gold medals. The best we ever have done and this is what we get recognition for.😢
Well, that's the reality of success: you won't be remembered for what you did good, but for what you did bad, especially this level of catastrophic failure.
Congrats on your (Australian) performance. Very high medal count vs population size. And you don’t have the benifit America has of sucking over the world’s talent to move to your country. We (Americans) get the best races for each sport type. While you guys just have - well - Australias (for the most part)
Have been living in Australia for 10 years. the country has completely transformed for the worst in these years. Men in dresses everywhere, pro Hamas rallies, illegal immigrants everywhere. absolute shame.
@@mljrotag6343 agree wholeheartedly. A wounded animal masks its injuries and acts normal, would have been able to launch away and move better than that performance.
I can confirm as an Australian we are very confused. I’ve seen better break dancing in public places here even around uni. We don’t know who sent her. Tbh this looks like those random gangsta performances you’d put on for your family when you’re 5 years old.
Which city are you in? She went because she won some Oceana world championships which I suspect was either poorly represented or inaccessible to a lot of breakers.
OMG!!! I laughed til I cried when u said she "looks like a swiffer"...🤣🤣😂 Literally tears were coming out of my eyes....the weird movements...that comment!! LOLOLOL Thank you!!
My child has a hearing disability, the career advisor at high school said that for her to get into universities her best bet would be cultural or gender studies which, she claimed, was very popular with high school students wanting to get into university. What she described to me, in my opinion was a higher educational system that had dropped the bar for entry requirements, and have designed these very easy to get in classes that we are asked to pay tens of thousands for over a 3/4 yr period then come out highly manipulated, and with a fake sense of self as geniuses because they went to university. These courses are ways to get more people into colleges and universities who would normally just have been working at Starbucks or getting trade. We took our child off the path for university, where they will not be going and instead getting a trade
No u r over thinking, they lower the bar to maximise profit from exploiting students. They want everyone they can get doing a course of some sort. But also education has replaced religion in the endoctrination game. Education is just brainwashing these days.
@@Ender7jI didn't understand this either. My son is an apprentice in a trade and it seems to me that a hearing issue would be a lot more relevant in a trade over going to uni and into an arts type degree....health and safety wise.
She is a perfect example of a product of a society that outlaws criticism! “Be nice” to everyone and they will think they are the best at everything, and everything they do is perfect!
Ah, but the opposite isn't true. Woke idiots are free to criticise, even violently attack anyone and everyone who don't agree with their beliefs. The hypocrisy is astounding.
The biggest lie parents tell their children - You can do (or be) anything, just go for your dream. Parents, quit lying to your children. Tell them the truth they will thank you later in life.
From what I may have learned, her husband was a coach and on the Olympic select committee. She possibly got the spot as a tax payer funded vacation to be with her husband. What she did was NOT breakdancing or even dancing. It looked like she was having convulsing spasms and flip flopping around with no rhythm whatsoever.
The fact that she "won" break dancing competitions is a slap in the face to the actual break dancers who have spent years working to dance better and are good at it.
I'd considered it a win for Australia. Aussies have kind of a reputation of giving it their best go and doing things as hard as they can. In war, in life, even lockdowns (Australia locked down harder than anyone almost). I'm from America so I don't know too much about the rest of the world but everytime I hear Australia I'm reminded of Galipoli. Theres almost no way to be better break dancers than the Asians. She gave it her best shot and made the Olympics kinda watchable. Australia kicks ass.
From a former break-dancer myself from the 1980's and from Australia, We here were also mocking her and laughing as Aussies are not afraid to laugh at ourselves. Trust me, we have some fantastic Break Dancers here, Sadly it was a Ballroom dancing company that organised all of this and her husband was actually one of the judges for the audition to go to the Olympics. So on Australia's behalf, Sorry World.
I think everyone knows that Australia has amazing break dancers like all over the world. They are truly talented and on fire. I've seen some battles on youtube. This woman build an entire scheme around her and her PhD and the husband with his company organized the whole thing and selected her as a "winner". What a betrayal to real talents and an embarrassment for her.
Such a scam. I mean it's bad but funny. Here we got stuff like Theranos and Elizabeth Holmes type crazy yet epic scammer. So worry not about how much damage people do to keep on pushing an agenda. Shit happens. Just be glad the crazy is so vocal about defending it so you know who to avoid.
We all know it was some crazy crooked shenanigans that got her qualified and approved, and Australia has some amazing world class athletes. Jokes on Raygun (stupid name).
I’ve come up with a list of new games for the Olympics. 1. Staring contest 2. Dad jokes 3. Thumb wrestling 4. Don’t laugh contest 5. Who can sit still the longest 6. Try not to yawn contest
Yep another Aussie here, never seen anything so embarrassing in my life. What on earth was going through her mind when she woke up one day and decided to do that shit. 🤔😱
As an Australian I should point out that here, "Universities" are just places where parents drop off the kids while they are off at work. At around age 30ish or so, the kids graduate to become faculty members, and the cycle continues.
I’m from Australia and I’ve never been so mortified, ashamed and embarrassed by one of our country’s representatives. This is worse than the Australian cricket team ball cheating scandal.
Looking for this quote. "Those who can't do, teach. Those who can't teach, teach p.e." I don't know if physical education is called p.e. in Australia like in the USA.
As an engineer that got his degree, started working field, have worked more that 8 years to earn my experience and career... Being notified there is a PhD in BREAKDANCING makes me wonder how easily buildings will break in the future
The top breakers were really good. I guess this was just a one-time thing, but I think it deserves to be an Olympic sport as much as figure skating or floor.
Was it widely known there was the possibility of a place for a breakdancer at the Olympics? Did you know - or hear about - anyone trying to qualify for it?
Aussie here. Supremely unimpressed by these olympics. What’s even more sad is that Australia broke our medal haul record this year, but this is all anyone is talking about. Fee sorry for the actual olympians.
The only reason why Australia broke their record was because Russia wasn't in this. It's Usually USA, China and Russia top 3 so a significant amount instead went to other nations such as Australia...
@phantomstarlight1366 nope, they can only have a limited number of events. Whenever a new event gets brought in, they have to take one out in its place. For eg. In this year's olympics, they took out Karate to put Breakdancing instead.
As an Aussie it’s embarrassing. It’s a coincidence that her husband was the coach and selector and it’s quite convenient that they then got to go on a taxpayer funded holiday to Paris to only then roll around on the floor like she is having a seizure. The two of them should be jailed for fraud
The real respectable Australian breakdancers are crying right now. 😭 They got cheated out of the Olympics by someone who just wanted to goof off (allegedly).
I thought it was so bizarre that breakdancing was in the Olympics, however, it was the only event that brought me any joy. Raygunn was a fiasco, but the real breakdancers were fantastic. I feel bad for the true breakers.
Yeah, that was my problem with her- she let her team down by not even trying, just turn it into a joke (leaving aside the whole "why is breakdancing even in the Olympics in the first place?")
The real question is where are these Real Respectable Australian Breakdancers you talk about? Why didn't they bother to compete for the position, I haven't heard from any of these others you speak of. Why can't it just be that Raygun is just the best Australia has to send to the Olympics?
@@fruitytarianshe can't be taking the piss if she's not decent to begin with. The judges can't give her a 0 for that or it would suggest they let their feeling decide who's good and who's not. As for Brett, I'm disappointed in this video as I see it as just a pure jump on the bandwagon view grab video. Usually she has some good points to make about the video but this one was lacking. She tried to throw in DEI hire, but come on, a white Phd holding woman in a woman's sport is now a DEI hire?
As a Australian it’s so sad that’s what the world remembers about our country at the Paris 2024 Olympics. We had so many talented athletes this year that really represent our country. As a relatively small country we did so well in the medal count.
For those of us who watched the Olympics that is not what will be remembered. The swimming competition was fantastic as was soccer between the US and Australia. No one watched break dancing. They watched the clips of it.
When I was eight, the Olympics were in Los Angeles, which is where I lived in 1984. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. It was. What is happening now is an absolute abomination.
I was 10 living in Atlanta when the summer Olympics came to town. It’s was like being at Disney land lol so much fun and so much stuff to do and see. My dad, sister, and I were in centennial park when the bomb went off but luckily we had just walked across the park bc I wanted a new shirt bc it had been raining all day and we were soaked.
Prestige of nothing but sitting and listening. College degrees in any field that doesn’t have you produce anything or require precise work like medicine or nursing/doctor… are pretty much worthless.
It's weird how universities have lost sight of what the term "inane" means. The babbling nonsense, that caused me to stop associating with girls in middle school, is now passing as intellectual discourse and important to society 😂.
As a Harlem native, and part of the generation that started break dancing in New York, we are still collectively trying to decode what the hell this woman was doing, or trying to communicate. 😂😂😂
I'm gonna be honest that is what every normal person thinks about actual break dancing 😅sry not sry but it's a dance for 13 yr olds. Something wrong with u if u still doing it past age 15!
I’m a GenX Man from 1972. So I actually grew up during the Beginning and Height of Breakdancing!!! Back when the greatest Breakdancer’s was becoming a household name. An if Breakdancing was actually going to be part of the Olympics it should have been back in the 1980’s. Her dancing looked more like an Epileptic Seizure to me instead of any type of dance
1st. Love the transition to the add. 2nd. At first I was ashamed but now I can't stop laughing. 3rd you don't know Australians, we are going to encourage her so we can continue to have a good laugh.
I really felt bad for her at first, then I got the facts on her and how she ended up in the olympics. 🤦♀️ I’m embarrassed for Australia now! This “performance” is going to live on forever in Olympic history.
I can hear her lecture now: "I invented this advanced move.. It is called 'the itchy dingo.' I often follow it up with a move i call ' the oppressed fish.' For those who aren't at and advanced level I recommend beginning with the move called 'colonialist pretzel.'"
Oh, she was Very effective. She did what no one else could. After her performance, the IOC has removed this "sport" from the Olympics. It takes a lot of hard work to completely Destroy an entire Olympic category.
Love they took it out of the Olympics … thought the whole discipline was cringe to watch, zapped away after 20 secs. They are trying to streamline what is essentially a „cool” minority youth dance subculture( including teen attitudes :”I’m better then youuu”). Else We can start including every dance style that has some kind of athletics in it, good luck justifying athletics I can practice in my living room.
That’s incorrect. Each host can introduce some sports. No one is bemoaning the loss of Karate posing in Tokyo. LA announced the sports they chose and none were breakdancing. They announced those sports before the Paris Olympics. LA chose cricket, flag football and lacrosse.
As an Australian, I think I speak for all of us when we say we do not claim her as one of our own. Maybe in some parts of Melbourne but definitely not anywhere else
@bearifiablepau2095 yeah I saw a couple articles talking about karate being rejected. Guess the Olympics Committee didn't want Karate Kid references to take over the games
She should have been rejected at trial events, and been applauded THERE for having a go. That she made it as our representative at the Games needs to be investigated. She should never have been there, let alone be applauded for having a go AT the olympic level. Plenty of competent women were surely overlooked for this debacle.
Do all Aussies get some kind of government subsidies for going to university? I'm genuinely curious I'm not trying to be facetious. Also 200k my god think of how all that money could have been used differently...
As a proud Aussie I am shocked and appalled by this vicious attack on a cultural icon like RayGun! I dare any of you to do half as well after ten beers and eight tequila shots! The fact that she could walk at all let alone dance is worthy of gold in my opinion! 🖕
Aussie here, she managed to somehow take away from our historic medal haul. Instead of us a country with less than 10% of Americas population being recognised 3rd on the medal table this is all that comes out of it.
Listen. You should be so impressed. My son, when he was 4.5 years old, saw break dancing on TV. He immediately told me that he could do it, too. He asked my wife and I to watch his routine and it was exactly like that. My child is a perfect genius and future Olympic athlete. So that tells you have amazing her routine was.

Breakdancing is a street art form. It was popularized in the 80s in New York City. You don't see anyone perform it today unless you are an actual street dancer. They have competitions that are posted online, but you won't catch anyone breakdancing in clubs or at weddings. It is still an underground art form, even though they made several movies in the 80s and 90s about breakdancing.
As an Australian it genuinely angers me that our tax dollars went to sending her to the Olympics. Not only did she embarrass the country, this controversy has deflected attention from the incredible results of our ACTUAL ATHLETES!
You probably would have received more than 0 points as well.
But you didn’t. And the Australian Olympic Committee didn’t ensure a qualified competitor was chosen.
"Hermes Conrad! Is that you inside that dumpy little fat man?"
You should upload your videos. I think people would love to see it.

Ahh, the great silver lining of this debacle! Great one! May you both have more Raygun inspired bonding moments ❤

Today I found your channel and I am in love with your content ❤thank you , you made my day 😁🙏
As an Australian I am highly embarrassed
Meh don’t be, we all suck now
Yeah, don’t be. If I was embarrassed over every cringy thing an American did, I’d stay embarrassed.
After Bluey it’s going to take a lot to ruin ya’lls reputation, so I wouldn’t sweat it.
@@babymama406 Honestly 😂
kinda sad this overshadowed Australia's whole Olympic performance, which was together with New Zealand and the Netherlands the most outstanding
Not only can she not breakdance, she can’t dance PERIOD!!!! Like for real 😂😂😂😂
To top it off her 1980s windbreaker/tracksuit tucked in and her pants pulled up like an 80year old man and then there's the duphus hat.... it all looks like Screech from Saved By The Bell was her fashion coach... 😮
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
She was dressed like our men's cricket team 😂
Hey, Screech was my favorite character and leave Dustin Diamond alone. 😊
That was just an Olympic Seizure.
That "break dancing" looked like the Monty Python "Silly Walks" sketch.
lol yeah my 1st thought too lmao
This dance is litteraly that meme: when u lie on ur resume but still get the job
Fr, it reminds me of Joey from friends when he lies about going to Juilliard for dance to get a role and then the instructor has him teach the class 😂
Hey! At least Joey had jazz hands! 😂
@@amyrudolph1090 lol true 😂
What's she doing?... She's mopping the floor, let's thank her for cleaning the stage 😂
In her case, PHD stands for Positively Horrible Dancer.
Australian here. Love my country and just cannot stop laughing at this.
I hope Rebel Wilson plays her in the movie.
yes or chris lily
While you laugh people like these just taking spots over really talented persons, and im not talking only about breakdancing sadly...
She’s an inspiration to middle aged, white women who never saw a breakdancer who looked like them. 😂
And theres a reason for that. Better to watch mr bean
As a middle aged white woman, your comment made me lol 😂😂😂
I'm sticking to jogging and hiking, even though I think that even I might be a better dancer than her 😂
Trying to break dance while being a middle aged anything is rough on the old bones that aren't what they used to be.
@@Louiseonajourney I like collecting rocks off the beach. Not Olympic status. 😂
😂😂😂
I never had so much laughter come from an Olympic game ever at someone's else's expense. I don't mind my government spending that tiny bit of money on (raygun) doing something that put a smile on the worlds face (even if she was serious).. I had to wake the house up to see what I was seeing. It was that funny my little one said os this the paraolympics already, so funny I laughed and cried at the same time
Now that is joy for some crazy reason 😜
Australian here. I have never seen a break dancer in my entire life here lol. We dont dance like that unless we are drunk. And honestly this is the first time we heard about Raygun lolol. We are embarrassed but at the same time loving this. Very complicated feeling.
The only time I've seen breakdancing in real life in Oz was some Asian teenage boys practicing it in a YMCA.
Kath Day-Knight tried breakdancing once, and Raygun reminded me of that 😂
Definitely seen some of those moves close to closing time at the local pub.
Used to see them all the time in the mid - late 80’s and 90’s on the streets and parks and malls in the cities.
As an Australian it genuinely angers me that our tax dollars went to sending her to the Olympics. Not only did she embarrass the country, this controversy has deflected attention from the incredible results of our ACTUAL ATHLETES! Australia came 4th in the world despite our relatively small population yet all everyone is talking about is this ridiculous so called dancer.
