- Hello everyone!
This is a cover version of ‘Dead set on Suicide' by Cattle Decapitation.
It’s just extreme and that's the main reason why I chose this one...
Drums-only-version right herer:
• Cattle Decapitation - ...
It took me almost two weeks to get back in shape, which honestly is the hardest part of learning those songs.
Very special thanks to my buddies Bartol and Reinsn from bazn sounds & records, Sebastian form DreamCatch Audio!!!
I also want to thank Mark from Pedaltrigger and Fabian, Hendrick, Dieter (and everyone who's involved) from Murat Diril Cymbals for always supporting me the best possible way - THANK YOU!
If you want to get in contact:

Another special thanks goes out to the local Arts- and Music-School in my hometown (Deutschlandsberg) where I recorded everything. It’s actually the concert hall, where I had my first “concerts” as a young student and so it just felt great to come back after more than 15 years. As a kid I never understood how important the environment you’re drumming in is for your wellbeing and of course for your sound. And this big wooden room whit all its warmth just feels and sounds absolutely incredible!
Which leads to the next point:
Except for the bass drum and (not even half) of the snare drum, all the drum sounds are natural and as pure as possible. We spend a lot of time to set everything up. I also switched sticks - from regular 5a to 3a to get more power, but not by necessarily swinging the stick higher or hitting any harder, but just because of its shape.
For the bass I used a standard sample from the Steven Slate foundry and for the snare I mixed signals (about two thirds natural sound with eq, comp and just a little verb; and one third is again a standard snare from the Steven Slate foundry. I had to pitch the sound of the sample, so it would match my real snare and it’s just for the attack during all the blast beats.)
Furthermore I used
Dixon MBS shells (2x22", 8", 10", 12", 13", 16", 18")
p.d.p. Limited Edition 20ply Snare with Die Cast Hoops(14"x8")
Axis A Longboards
Roland SPD-S for triggering (bass drums)
And Murat Diril Cymbals:
20" t(h)rash crash with 6” renaissance splash on top
18" blast china
14" blast china20
20” rock mega bell ride
14" custom arena hi hat
9" mini hats (renaissance splash bott, luminous splash top)
7" & 8" renaissance splash
17" fast crash
16 speckled crash
18" fast crash
10" stack
18" rock china
19" rock china
22" rock mega bell ride
11" black sea hi hat
12" black sea trash hats
21" custom crash/ride

Who else is here because of "El Estepario Siberiano"? 😉😊 Chapeau David, hoffentlich bekommst du die Anerkennung, die du verdienst! 👌🏻
yup.
Hell yea, when El Estepario has no idea how he plays drums the way he does you know you've found something special.
David was there well before estapario came on the scene
@@darrenbooker8144 Its a half descent commentary on how it doesnt matter how good you are if you cant sell yourself. El Estepario has charisma coming out his ass. David might have but we'll never know and thats why one has millions of followers and the other doesn't. Talent alone wont get you there.
@@darrenbooker8144 Fair enough. Yet I‘m here because of him and he highly recommended David.
I'm as equally fascinated by his perfect posture as I am with his drum skills.
Randall Parris I agree with that. He moves to every drum effortlessly. He Is the best I've seen so far.
Randall Parris yeah he definitely has his kit set up for his needs.
he's making sure to be able to do this in the years to come - you sit wrongly - you strain your back or some other parts of your body. Posture is fundamental for sustaining stamina imo.
Yes
It's a necessity really, if you want to move as he does and still keep any speed up for more than 3 seconds.
I love the hand switching during the blasting.
Do drummers do that to avoid quick fatigue on one arm on gravity blasts?
@@MK-oz2lf i thinks it's called a switch blast or something. gravity blast is when you hit the rim of the drum to get two hits with just one movement
@@MK-oz2lf I don't think fatigue is a huge factor in his extremely technical style. I think he switches according to which cymbals he wants to hit.
mooncountry1017 they do it when blast beats are faster than 270 ish bpm, because after that point it becomes impossible to sustain 8th notes with a single hand the whole time
@@MK-oz2lf it's done at extreme speeds to keep the snare consistent in traditional blasts that use either half note or quarter note cymbal pulses once you're over 260 bpm. In a live setting it also looks flashy while conserving energy. There's also the Dirk blast that can be used as well if you take away the accented notes with usually in it and only use cymbals every 4 snare hits. Spencer from archspire uses it a lot
What an age to be alive, where we have not only the original drummer playing stuff like this, but having talented enough people to do covers as well.
Restless leg syndrome and Parkinson's, no other explanation.
+Prog Pogs Restless Badass syndrome
this made me laugh so hard, awesome!:DD
me too, hahaha
restless all bodyparts syndrome...love !
HAHAHAHAHAH
I found it fascinating to see how this song is played on drums. Many people will discard metal but music like this clearly takes so much talent. Kudos on the amazing cover.
FLAWLESS VICTORY
Dread Naught FATALITY!!
I call it BRUTALITY!
DAVID-WINS
BRUTALITY
Indeed.
FRIENDSHIP
I've rarely seen a drumer with a technique as polished and ridiculously fast as yours. Amazing cover.
Also I'm in love with the sound your 22" ride makes. That bell sound is pure bliss.
One of the fastest drum covers saw on youtube. And certainly one of the best. U are remarkable..
Playing is as clean as hospital tiles on a daily basis.
Uhhh, hospital tiles might actually be pretty dirty and infested with disease. Think about it, hospitals are where sick people go. There's sickness and disease everywhere
Soooo... You could say his playing is sick!
I think hospital floors are disinfected daily
Adit Wani not all of them (as in not all of the floors)
Most hospital floors are only broom swept believe it or not.
Possibly the most flawless "extreme" drummer in all of death metal. Doesn't ever seem to miss even a slight beat. Ever.
Devil'sAdvocate hes become my new favorite drummer. the guy is flawless.
I
8.8meio
Mariavieiraperrut
Let's see the drummer of "Henker" group 😏
@@privetpridurok13 he uses cheater pedals and that band has never been a legitimate contender for anything truly technical.
his double bass sounds like when i drive on those grooves on the side of the highway
😂😂😂
Was crying after soaking this level of art and your comment actually explained the emoji 😂
Doing about 350km an hour
Dude you should not be speeding....
That Dredg shirt though. Eclectic. Strongly approve.
Came here to say this! Haha.
The sound of the whole kit is unbelievable. I can remember this video when is came out. Peak drumming and sound, nothing beat this ever since.
Usually I don't like big kits that much, but you use every piece at the right moment! Great creativity! Keep it going (y)
I love the alternating blasting with left then right hand. I have a new favorite.
What about the person that actually wrote this and powers through with a one handed blast?
utterly devastating cover. One of the best drummers on the internet
You're fuckin incredible man. I'm super impressed with how clean you play at these higher bpm's! The mix always sounds great too!
Daaamn when I see and hear this I'm falling in love again. The speed, power and ability to play as such creates an amazing vortex full of joy.
To me it always felt like racing a car.
I had it on autoplay, didn't know it was a cover until I looked. Well done.
That is the most insane performance I've ever seen. Incredibly stamina.
2:21 Best part! You're a great player man!
yeh that groove into the break down was sick
The breakdown is so BRUTAL!! It's crazy !!
destroyed. been wanting to see a legit playthrough of this that wasn't chile and here it is. so proud that these guys are from my hometown :D
Wow im speechless. One of the best I’ve seen on RUclips
when the wendy's 4 for four [ burger , fries , drink , something else] commercial comes on and your watching a cover of CATTLE decapitation.
LOL!
What's even better is I believe they are all vegans too lol
Bro what the fuck are you talking about
Coming back around to watch this again. Still mind-blowing and you're even crazier than this now/lately. Great content!
you are fucking crazy David! :D
anyway hands down one of the best, if not the best drummers on youtube!
Switching hands during the blasts every few bars is very smart at those speeds. Gives each hand time to recover from the hard work.
Or you could man up like the drummer that wrote this does. Dave McGraw.
This is incredible!
Dude, that is one hell of a drum set. Serious props
Best death metal drummer i'have ever seen
Much respect to you and your talent, as well as your Dredg shirt. Dino Campanella is a phenomenal drummer and criminally underrated.
Damn fine work!!!! Insane control at those tempos
My favorite thing in the world about you is that you don't use drum triggers and we get to hear that beautiful natural resonance of the drums, you are an absolute master at your craft
i think he do use triggers cuz his kicks sounds the same all the time
Kick is definitely triggered.
Oh definitely but playing that fast without it sounding crushed is pretty damn hard, also no tuning required making it easier on him since he uses two basses, but the snare and toms are just jizztacular
only triggered thing in that set is kicks but toms and snare sounds good without triggers
why is there on every metal drum video a discussion about triggers ? omg
Awwwww so enjoying to watch! This is one of the best vids on youtube, thank you!
Damnit man we need a foot cam!! This is too good holy hell
This is an absolutely perfect cover. You won the internet dude.
Okay but can he play Seven Nation Army?..
That is piece of shit bro
Most original comment
Don't be daft.
He did in the first 5 seconds at 680 bpm
@@Usiv101 r/woooooshhhh
Love that killer crossover on the blastbeats plus your so relaxed behind the set which is key to extreme drumming like that keep up the skill👍
0:52 - 1:00 I love those short fills
that was awesome. I've been out of touch with cattle decapitation for a while, those semi-clean vocals took me by surprise.
I love your variation on the swivel with the feet (whether on purpose or not). the slow back and forth from side to side, to spread the work between different muscles, makes way more sense than putting so much energy into the side to side motion.
Get back in touch with them, mate. They are better than they have ever been!
Need another camera just for the footwork!!!
MutilatedMetalhead Don't think so. you can't even see it in that speed :D
I agree. Any drum video without one feels lacking.
I'd love to see the technique closer.
@@itte1998 if ur a drummer, you'll see everything
I've got a Cattle Decap playlist on autoplay in the background and this video came up. Had no idea it was a drum cover until I looked and... holy shit! Absolutely flawless!
I'm also considering selling my soul to satan
Pffff hahahahahaha XD comment of the year!
Daniele YaAnon Welcome, we have better bbq than the other guys.
Daniele YaAnon He already owns it you pathetic sheep.
I'll roll with ya
*Cool, I'll let him know.* ;)
That was sick!!!!!!!!! You look so smooth. Great job
Jesus man thats fucking awesome
Mate serious skills! How can someone dislike this!? The guys lightening!
what a foot speed my god! :O
I love the coy smiles during the blasts...
Can you do other covers of Cattle decap. pls?
this is an amazing drum cover, really hear the details that are in the song too on the drums, with some own input. perfect 10/10
not even a single sweat, it's impossible!!!
One of my favorite Cattle songs and you fuckin nailed it dude!! Very clean!
I can do this. Hold my beer.
LOL
Damm, that was intense! Kudos. Thank you @ElEsteparioSiberiano for letting us know about this monster!
2:28 is mad sick
Ich danke El Estepario für den Tipp. Cognizance ist in die deathmetal playlist aufgenommen worden und was du hier vor 9 Jahren schon abgeliefert hast ist ja wohl mal vollkommen Krank. Unfassbarer Skill!
DO A RINGS OF SATURN COVER PLEASE
Desolate paradise gahahah
they suck
Rod Stiffington Rings of saturn sucks?
Muse Nw yes they suck
Rod Stiffington Not all of their music sucks though. maybe it's because aaron kitcher's edited drums ruined the integrity
I honestly don't think I'll ever get enough of this video.
Why do you love to humiliate drummers as me?
after I watched this guy I got all inspirational and wet to play drums......i came home doubting if I even play drums :..(
Hey man, just practice practice practice, and you can play like him!!!! I've been practicing 4 years straight, every single day, and recently, I was just able to cover this song!
***** It is good as long as you do not let it sit and fester, instead take the reality check as fuel to keep pushing, adapt and get better.
Harry Eaton Being able to cover this song and being able to do it as perfect in time like him is something completely different...
peniku8 What?? Ummm, that made no sense because it IS the same thing. Being able to cover the song MEANS being able to play it all in time.
David you are absolutely insane! Fantastic cover!
and he's sitting there smiling like nobodys business xD
How the hell do you only have 28k subs. I just stumbled here and this talent is an immediate sub for sure!
The Bass Drum beats are so fast they seem to be producing a frequency which should equal a note. Does anybody know what frequency the feet are going? From there we should be able to figure what note it is producing being that 440HZ equals an "A"
Maybe about 40 times a second so 40Hz would equal a very low E.
Fuck yes! You are an amazing drummer, great job on the cattle decap cover. I also love your Arcana Hereticae cover, gives me chills!
Put can he play eye of the tiger?
lmao thankyou
One exceptional drummer named David covering another exceptional drummer also named David … and covering it exceptionally.
2:32...there is a fill on snare in audio....but in video the hand are on the ride cymbal....??????
I think it was a mistake... The sound was coming from the song's mix
Francesco La Rosa listen the drums only version
He hits the snare perfectly on queue. I don't know what you are looking at
Trigger mistake ;)
kalloused
its not wether or not hes on queue (which he is)
theres a trigger error at 2:32, in which you can hear a snare sound while hes doing the ride "fill" :)
I'm in tears right now... Soooo brutal, it's actual beautiful.
2:31 where is that snare beat?
Probably the original track you're hearing and he missed playing that fill...he is playing to a cover so the original drums parts are still there.
Good catch. something happened haha
david, you are indeed my favorite metal drummer of all time, hands down. Not only because of your godly skills, but because you have the happiest face when you play
Hes covering someone else's song...
@@JM-ll6hd your point?
amazing playing .. but out of curiosity .. i'd like to hear a raw drum track .. especially without the bass drum triggers
shadowlorde I think at that speed, triggers are necessary.. If you didn't have them it would all just start to mush together.. But yeah I also wanna hear how it would sound.
true ... .. it would most likely sound like a soft timpani roll
+shadowlorde Took me 20 seconds to find drums only. /watch?v=w1vr3bRTbGM
+ihatemattiaseriksson nah we wanted to hear it without triggers
Some people are never satisfied.
I dont even like this style of metal but this dude drumming is pure class and art of its own my ears are pleased😂
se tragó una mosca en el 0:37 jajaja
Cáshese
Melchor Cancino Y. jajajajajajajajaja
Ajajajaja tenes razon xd
hahahaha, he ate a fly at 0:37
My jaw hit the floor. Damn that was good. Very precise. Excellent job man.
God Damn, your double bass and blast beats are THE BEST I've ever heard and that includes Derrick Roddy!!!!!
Its a cover of someone elses work....
More Cattle play-throughs omg so sick.
Holy hell those cymbals sound amazing.
ABSOLUTELY MIND BLOWN.
you've missed the fill in 2:31.
just kidding, you were flawless, you're a god on drums, I really admire you, I hope someday I achieve half of your technique. Thank you for inspiring me.
The breakdown section is fucking brutal incredible
Holy shit dude, you're a monster behind that kit, much respect.
Esse cara é simplesmente o melhor, o dia que qualquer batera sair de qualquer banda de Black ou death metal ele substitui facilmente.
David - "Hmm, I sent the students home after school. Now it's time to BLAST!!!"
Holy crap. When ESS posted his reaction video, i thought it was the drummer... This dude is "cover"ing the original... That's insane!
This is incredible. Your best cover man.
Great technique and execution.. Love that snare tone also-
Here after el estepario tribute.
Mec TU DECHIRES ❤
god, its flawless, simply amazing
That's pretty amazing. It makes you wonder if they make bass drum pedals that are either very light or the beater is very close to the skin of the bass drum that allows you to make quick beats.
they're actually heavier most of the time, because you get more power out of it and you don't have to put work in getting it up again. And you need to keep the beaters close yourself, because they are usually at mid-distance from the drum
So many notes in such a short amount of time. Killed it
Wtf. Every day I have a new drummer in my recommendation, every new one is better than the last one. This was 2014 recommended just now and I'm glad, other wise I would have quited drums ever since.
im literally speechless. Whoah
Nailed it!!!!!!
"Your like amazing dude"
Just when you feel you've made some good progress...You see this bad ass and ball up in a corner and cry.
Ogień, blasty, drut kolczasty 🔥
There are many good RUclips drummers. This guy surely belongs in the top tier. Before, I only knew of Krimh and Samus
You should definitley do more Cattle Decapitation songs!
OMG.... to cover this... beastly. Well done dude.
Dave is a fucking monster! Tasteful grooves in all his shit.
