GT's website is surprisingly bad, we agree. I can't say much about these models, but I can say that I have absolutely abused my Aggressor Pro for 2 years now and that frame is rock solid.
I brought the GT Aggressor Expert 29er in September. I absolutely love it. Take it everywhere and use it for everything. I swapped the peddles for a metal set. Can’t fault it so far.
I’m definitely thinking of buying a GT bike. I’ll be retiring my Raleigh Maverick and upgrading to something much better. My current bike I bought at Walmart years ago and I want to have something really decently good, and I cycle a lot during the summer so I’m willing to pay more.

Thanks for doing this video. Would these bikes be okay for road riding. Thinking Expert would be best as has locking suspension.. would it be faster to as it has more gears?
Great video as always! I was wondering if you could maybe do a comparison on treks different full-sus bikes. Also, if you have any of them in your shop, maybe show them irl!
I'll consider those! Usually we don't have too many of the more expensive models since people in Sacramento prefer road and hybrid bikes a lot more, but every now and then we do so hopefully I can do an in person comparison eventually!
I think it's closer to the Comp. the Pro seems to be a model Dick's Sporting Goods and similar retailers. The only difference I think from the Comp is the derailer on the GT seems to be generic or I couldn't see the brand. Not sure it is Shimano like the Comp.
I've looked at a lot of 24-in bikes for my 12-year-old son, almost 13. He's 4 ft 8 right now. I started realizing that I could maybe benefit from getting him a small or extra small men's bike. If he starts taking mountain biking seriously, I'd like him to be able to invest in one bike and add upgrades. Versus having to get another bike in a year. Unfortunately, I've seen that these have been $299 in the past but I can't get them at Dick's Sporting goods for that price right now. And at the price they're going for presently, that just really pushes it over what I was wanting to spend. Does anybody think that my thought on going with this bike for him is a good idea? If I can end up getting it at a lower price? Because the 24 in in other bikes are very limited and what they provide or what can be swapped out and what they start out with and you purchase it.
I agree that a small or extra small frame size bike like this one would be a better option overall since he’ll likely grow into it. If you can find these or the Avalanche models at a cheaper price they aren’t bad options.
Looking at a 2021 silver GT Aggressor Expert 27.5 at a canadian retailer, their site says it has Microshift shifters, and their 3x8 drivetrain as well. Do you think there was an update at some point?
Great video. I just got the new GT Palomar medium frame with the 27.5 tires. On GT's site it lists as $560 but dealer had it for $519. It also came with Shimano equipment and All Terra crank but the web site lists it with microshift equipment and prowheel crank. So I am not sure if I got the bike with worse components than advertised and now I am so confused.
Yeah GT is really confusing to me too; not sure why their website shows completely different stuff. Shimano components are good usually so it's probably fine!
I believe that one does not have a 2021 model, so I chose not to include it in this video since it uses a different frame than these ones. The Pro is basically a mix of the Expert and the Comp, with tektro mechanical disc brakes, a 3x8 shimano drivetrain, and an 80mm travel Sr Suntour XCT fork.
do Schwinn or mongooses high-end lineup lol. because people forget those brands still make high-end bikes. also, make some canondale or rei bike vids please. polygon and decathlon would be pretty good as well.
Question, I bought my girlfriend an aggressor expert recently. I wanted something rugged so I can drag her on some trails with me but also for easy rides around the parks nearby. If you had to pick 2 or 3 parts to upgrade (aside from saddle), what would they be? I'd love to make shifting easier on her by switching to a 1 or 2x but I think that would require a lot of new parts.
I know you were not asking me but I had to reply 😀. I was going to make an aggressor 1x for my daughter but changed my mind when I started running the 42 ring all the time and only changing from first gear to second and sometimes third. My daughter is unable to do this so far but she will be able to if she works out on the indoor trainer. That trainer is the key, one hour there times a week plus a hard ride on the weekends will do it. I really love this simple technique, but my trails are xc type and my longest climbs are under a couple of minutes so it may not work for everyone if they ride different terrain. Man, I would definitely try it first and then decide about changing over. I'll put it this way, I ride a 1x12 and I believe I can get up the hills faster on the 3x . Something I just thought about that could make this reply a total wast of time is my aggressor has the old mega-drive freewheel, low is 34t and second gear is alot smaller ( I can't read it ), but something else I've noticed is the chain is tighter and Is quieter. Anyway I've just tried this a few times in the last couple of weeks and I love it and that's why I wanted to reply. May God bless you and I hope you keep safe riding.
Somtimes Dick's does a 30% off weekend. I picked up an Aggressor then. Think it was under $300 after taxes. Rode it for a few months and sold it for $350. Ordered a Marlin 5. Been using that. Going to abuse that for a year or so then maybe think of an upgrade.
Glad I got my 10 year old the expert. Also, these bikes will hold their value well as the entire industry will have major shortages the next 2 years...
@@magnumllama400 nah modern bike thieves are in high end road bikes and full suspension bikes that are locked whit cable locks. Even crackheads dont mess around cheap bikes if using quality D lock.
In Canada, all GT bikes are sold by Sportchek. You only get the Aggressor Sport or the Pro. Also there is only on Avalanche and its the Pro. Because of the shortage. Aggressor Pro is 3x8 the Sport is 3x7. Avalanche gets 3x9. All the drive trains are Microshift low end stuff. Even the Avalanche Pro gets an awful SR XCT fork.
