Being new to MTB, these videos have helped me so much for learning more about bikes and seeing what bike I should get for a decent price. Thanks for your help, keep it up, and first! 🍭🍭🍭
Ok I've watched this video 10 times and I'm lost I looked up my model on gt and it's saying it's a 2021 gt avalanche m 29. Is this the same as the sport in your video because like I said in another post my parts are diffrent then what your saying certain ones come with. I just can really find any info on this thing I want to do some upgrades but want to know what I've even got to start
This was a very helpful video, I just bought a 2022 Avalanche Elite today. Although some of the parts have changed, its still an awesome bike! Thanks bro!
@@noahmeloche Thank you for responding! I think the 120 mm travel is better for trailing than the classic 100 mm for XC. I have not tried a 120 mm yet. But I'm convinced it will be better than the 100 mm.
It cant be the same frame bc the aggressor (I have one) has a straight head tube and doesnt has internal cable routing. The avalanche has a tapered head tube and inner cable routing.
I wonder if the frame sizes are the same but yeah those are the only two differences I see and noticed but I've only been able to ride the aggressor model
I managed to get an Avalanche Sport cheap. Upgrading is not straight forward so beware. The bottom bracket is tapered...and cheap (so upgrade requires conversion to hollowtech), and the hub is HG so you can't easily convert to 12 speed (if you want to that is!) forks are straight stem with a taper adapter (so headset would need replacing) and is currently open cage bearings not sealed. The forks themselves carry a warning sticker that says pretty much that they arent good for anything! If you are willing to push on through with an upgrade, the bike gets so much better.
Thinking to buy secondhand Polygon siskiu d6 2018 vs. GT avalanche expert 2014 vs. Giant fathom 29 2 2017. Which one would be the best choice if its conditions and prices are same. Please help me any advice and suggestions? Thanks!
💥 All of these shifters and derailers are Shimano and the 2023 GT Avalanche that I just checked out at Dick’s Sporting Goods has all microSHIFT which I’ve never heard of being that I’m still riding my Cannondale SM800 that I bought in 1991 with all Shimano. Is that a decent brand or is it sporting goods store junk.?? it’s on sale for $499 and seems like it’s one of those “good for the money” deals.
Got two of these from Dicks a couple months ago with the microshift components. I’ve been pretty hard on it and had no problems so far. One of the bikes came 1x10, the other 3x9, which I converted to 1x10 Shimano Deore shifter, deraileur, cassette, chain. Honestly cannot tell the difference between the two while riding.
Great video but I still can not figure out what bike I have I got it from dicks sporting goods for 950 out the door. It's a avalanche 29 in dark teal color it has the hydraulic brakes but it has 3 gears on the crank 100mm forks the spring ones I believe. I wish I could figure this thing out haha I'm new to mtb and haven't rode in years if any may know please respond
Been enjoying all your lineups videos. Looking for bike with 1x and an air shock. Any favorite between trek X-Caliber 7, Giant Talon 0, and Gt Avalanche Elite?
I think the Talon 0 is the best out of those 3 in terms of price and the value you get, since it has a 1x12 drivetrain and a good fork (on paper since we haven’t seen reviews of Giant’s fork yet)
I'm having a hard time deciding which hardtail I should get. My list contain vitus nucleus/sentier, kona fire mountain/mahuna, rocky mountain soul 10/20, ragley marley 1.0/2.0. Today I saw GT Avalanche. I would like to use the hardtail on dirt trail, downhill and light jumps. How do the GT Avalance compare to the bikes I mentioned?
I have the 2020 Avalanche Comp, the only difference from the 2021 is the paint. Here's what I highlight about the Avalanhce: - floating seatstays - work great at smoothening out the trail - components are ok-ish - it's a fast 29er - probably the best hardtail geometry out there Some issues/downsides: - cables are internally routed and sometimes rattle and make noise - it has wtb sx19 wheels that are just 19mm wide(the expert model comes with better wheels) - comes with just 160mm braking rotors To conclude, this is a pretty nice bike for the price and it's worth going for if you want the frame, the components you might upgrade. It's not that aggressive and to be clear, isn't a hardcore hardtail if that's what you're looking for. It's an entry level bike to let your skills on the trail develop. You should also check out the Canyon Stoic 2/3 if you're looking for a hardcore hardtail. It's fantastic value and a real ripper. There's also the GT Zaskar, it has the same fantastic geometry like the Avalanche, but it's more aggressive and better suited for trails.
@@km006 Thank you so much!!! Your advice will definitely help me in making decisions. I'll check out the other hardtails you mentioned. Have an awesome day bro!
@@neilfpv No problem man, glad I could help. I recommend you demo a few of the bikes just to see which one fits you and feels the best. If there's anything else I can help you out with, or if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help. Hope you have an awesome day too buddy.

Great vids. Please always put average price and show the weight on a hanger scale. Many don't do this and both r very necessary information.,- especially weight. Weight is hard to find and companies don't like to say, so when u show that it makes me want to watch every vid.
I always try to include the weights in my videos but like you said not all bike companies list them unfortunately. I would totally weigh these bikes if I had them in person, but unfortunately I don't :(

Stanchions are the upper part of the suspension fork (the 2 pistons that slide in and out of the main suspension fork body). The mm refers to the diameter (or width since it's the same in this case) of the stanchions. A larger number means stronger and stiffer fork for more aggressive trail riding and it can take harder hits

@@Gabriela-jc4pt Hahaha I know what you mean. My marlin has the same spacing and its been difficult to find some good ways to upgrade the wheels and other stuff.
Thanks for this video. After a year, I'm looking up why my shocks seem to be so useless... I'm 180lbs and if I take even a little hump of air travel, the shocks seem to hit hard and bottom out... They were not locked out so was trying to see if there was a variable adjustment on it, but I guess not... cheap is what cheap getz...;o)
