I've seen every Av's game this year. When fans of other teams play a team as dominant as the AV's a part of you hates them. The Avs are the real deal....fastest blueline in nhl history with makar and byram....fastest transition game, fastest team probably in history, the Avs losing so many players to injuries (Girard, Kadri, Kuemper, Burakovsky etc) yet still chugging along.....such a curse of injuries the last 3-4 years this team even though they have been the best team almost every year.
Makar is so effortlessly fast. I remember watching him during his RBC Cup game. He made every other kid out there look like they were standing still. Just greased lightning!

D is playing on one leg, Smith was shaky at times before he was clearly playing hurt and Reves is not available for an elimination game and possibly several more. Being down Naz is something the Aves can’t just shrug off. Then you got McD the one man army. I guess it’s not hopeless when you look at it this way, but man I’m not seeing it. I hope I’m wrong. It’s always sad to see a team who had an honest shot at the sterling silver lose it due to key injuries.
I understand why they pull the goalie. So they can have an extra defense/offense player. But wouldn't it make more sense for the team that's ahead to take the risk of an empty net goal?
Unless the team that's ahead is shorthanded, they run the risk of icing the puck if they miss the net. And icing a puck means a D-zone face-off and players can't get off the ice. That's why players will try to lift the puck out with a high flip, instead of shooting it. And they try to make it to red line before going for the empty net so that they won't run the risk of icing.

The Avs are the real deal....fastest blueline in nhl history with makar and byram....fastest transition game, fastest team probably in history, the Avs losing so many players to injuries (Girard, Kadri, Kuemper, Burakovsky etc) yet still chugging along.....such a curse of injuries the last 3-4 years this team even though they have been the best team almost every year.
Makar is so effortlessly fast. I remember watching him during his RBC Cup game. He made every other kid out there look like they were standing still. Just greased lightning!
Kadri for once, doesn't take himself out of the playoffs.....Kane might get a holiday for that hit.

Game 2 was a Smith melt down combined with oilers getting out chanced. and game 3 repeated game 2 in the respect of the Avs getting the better chances. Just watch the play. look at the shots. the scoring chances. all the advantages are favoring the Avs. It's not just numbers on net. It's quality. So few Oilers shots are of any real quality. and yet many of the Avs shots are.

I understand why they pull the goalie. So they can have an extra defense/offense player.
But wouldn't it make more sense for the team that's ahead to take the risk of an empty net goal?
Unless the team that's ahead is shorthanded, they run the risk of icing the puck if they miss the net. And icing a puck means a D-zone face-off and players can't get off the ice. That's why players will try to lift the puck out with a high flip, instead of shooting it. And they try to make it to red line before going for the empty net so that they won't run the risk of icing.
