“The Avs don’t look terribly dangerous right now” and the award for the worst take that aged like milk goes to…
Anyone who isn't a aves fan at heart will try and take their shine a way when they can BUT THIS GAME WAS THE DEFINITION OF STEAMROLL. I have seen the Aves at times try and tamper down later in the game a few times and I think they just Fullsended this game to the stars. LETS GO AVES

Exactly
Reminds me of Steve saying “this is easily the most calm I’ve been for a game 7” right before the Habs took the lead against the Leafs last year
I'm from Denver still live there now, the vibes yesterday were immaculate, the whole city was watching the game. Watching this core go from the worst record in the NHL to dominating the finals has been incredible.
One of the best crowds in the NHL. Love when fans have arena traditions like this. Even the C of Red can't compare when it comes to All The Small Things!
All us Flames fans are behind you, Colorado!! We're in your corner all the way, Avs!
Most fans are cheering for them all the way! From a Leafs fan! 🇨🇦
Canadian Avs fan here thank you
Agreed us flames are rooting for you avs! Also the C of red has been absolutely terrible this year
Thank you
@@emmab8600 I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed it!! We have a reputation among players for having a really energetic crowd, and the C just didn't show up for a good chunk of the season. Not nearly as much as usual.
Everyone watching this NEEDS to watch Avalanche 360! This will give you the chills every episode! Just search it on RUclips! WE WANT THAT CUP!
Thanks!!!!
The Avs are just this good wow. This is a stacked Avs team that's been the favourite for the cup for the past few years that's finally put everything together. It's unreal to see. 14-2 so far in these playoffs, leaving no room for doubts, asterisks, etc. Just greatness, if they can finish the lightning off.
Well deserved if they take it home been a while 😉
All the new acquisitions have 7 gwg combined in the playoffs...unreal.
Careful with statements like this. I would really rather the Avalanche win this, but I'm a Wild fan, so I know you gotta be _real damn careful_ with statements like this. It ain't over 'til it's over.

@@stevenkovacs871 maybe, maybe not. The Avs have a deep group this year. Besides they had a game like this vs blues and responded well

Yup, people dogging on him because he's not putting it in the net himself, but he is having a MONSTER playoffs!
@@craigschuer7451 no he wasn’t great early in the playoffs since he just came off a really bad flu.
He didn’t get his first goal of the post season until an empty netter, but we need him. If you look at a lot of our big moments, he’s there, assisting, skating, always in the play.

May be the best team I've witnessed in 33 years as well
Been watching hockey for 11 years now, and I would say it's the best team I've personally seen.
It feels certainly special after seeing them win as a kid, go through some dark times and re-emerge! Joe Sakic has put together one hell of team for us and yeah, I think this team could take on the 2001 team and beat them in 7 haha

@@GR1MR34P3R420 1 win away now :)
“Avs don’t look dangerous rn” well that preceded unfortunate events
The Colorado Avalanche are like Heisenberg right now, and they are telling the entire league, "say my name". I have quietly laughed all year over some of the takes I have heard about the Avs. They are making a statement to the league, and showing everyone just how good they are, exactly like any fan who has been paying attention knows they are capable of. It has been an amazing, unforgettable journey with this team over the last 6 years. 2 more wins to go. Let's go Avs! Bring it home!
As a russian native speaker I can't emphasise enough how much I appriciate Steve's pronunciation of 'Valeri Nichushkin'. That's an incredibly difficult task yet you nail it every time!
And now I know how to pronounce it properly! Thank you kind hockey friend

@@Tabbychu Eh, it gets you close. A lot of players just give up and allow for the North Americanized pronunciations of their names, so a decent number of European players still have their names pronounced wrong and just accept it.
If you're ever curious about the proper pronunciation of names, on eliteprospects they have a "premium feature" (just requires a free account, not the actual premium account upgrade) where you can click on a button that looks like a volume button and it reads a proper pronunciation of the name aloud.
So happy for Lehkonen. I loved the kid in Montreal and was sad to see him go but it's so satisfying to see him get his revenge from last year with the help of a much much better team. Go Avs!

@@snowfloofcathug Ever heard of something called altitude sickness? Apparently nobody knows how it affected this game. Tampa looked like they were skating through mud. They played ok in game 1, but by the time game 2 rolled around, they were gassed. 21% less oxygen in the air at that altitude, Avalanche are acclimated to that environment, whereas Tampa normally plays at sea level. I've personally travelled to Colorado and Wyoming to ski a few times. If you do any sort of athletic activity at that altitude and you aren't acclimated....it kicks your ass. As a 33 old year man who hasn't seen the Avs win since being a kid, this brings back nolstalgic memories. Let's go Avs! Avs in 5 games, Lightning are just too good not to steal a game at home. Even if the Avs are better at away games.
There is one scary thought in that comment. Especially since there is more than just a hint of truth in it. "... Lightning are just too good not to steal a game at home." Before the playoffs I would have called it a blasphemy to even jokingly consider that the Lightning would need to STEAL a game at home. Now, after that game, It doesn't sound that far fetched any longer.
I think if they're going to win a game at all it'll have to be game 3. If the Avs get even a whiff of road success in Tampa and end up 3-0 on the series, there's not a snowball's chance in hell the bolts come back to win game 4. If my hockey instincts are worth their salt, today (and every day thereafter for that matter) is do or die for the bolts.
Steve: "The Avalanche don't look that dangerous"
And the Avalanche took that personally...
Glad I didn't miss this moment of history
TB tried to kill their own power play, LOL.
A thoroughly banged up Oilers squad gave Colorado a lot more problems than this. I give the Avs full credit for being a great team.
It's the weirdest thing, it is like just everyone completely wrote off the Avs, as if a fired up Blues Team and Shutting down McDavid and Drai to almost nothing, meant nothing to these people. The series is still young and I will not get ahead of myself, but I think it is maybe time the East puts a little respect on the West.

Negative, it is usually played just over halfway through the 3rd if we're winning, one exception is during game 1 when we we're tied with Tampa, they played it anyway. #GOAVSGO!!!
Dangle 182. Sounded like William Shatner, lol. Great job, as Always Steve! Can't wait to see MacKinnon bring the cup home, here in Nova Scotia.
First let me say-I will never count out 2 time Champs. But as a 4th generation Coloradoan on both sides, who's 45...that's the most dominant single game performance in Colorado sports history-factoring in the opposition,& stakes.
2015 Broncos had 1 of the 5 or so best defenses of All time,& dominated the #1 offense,& MVP in SB 50-but our abysmal offense was almost totally inept that day..less than 200 yds of offense. My All-time favorite Av-Peter Forsberg-scored a hat trick,(I THINK a natural hat trick even) in game 2 of 1996 Cup Finals. But for you kids who aren't old enough to remember-that Florida team was similar to last year Montreal. Pulled 3 upsets,(including Marion Lemieux,& Jamr Jagr somehow in ECFs)& rode an insanely hot goalie to the Finals. Defacto Cup Final was really the WCFs against Detroit.(Claude Lemiux hit on Draper series) Not trying to take anything away from that Av team-just like TB last year-you can only beat who shows up,it's not your fault if other elite teams get upset. And all championships are equal. 8-1 in the Finals,is 8-1.
But this is the TB friggin Lightning...4 wins away from the most amazing dynasty in NHL history-considering we have 32 teams,4 rounds of playoffs,& a salary cap, which should in theory-prevent you from 3 peating, going to 4 Finals,& 6 of 8 ECFs. TB with the greatest goalie on earth-no matter what happens this series,& loads of other future HOFers. 1996 Florida isn't remotely in their class, but Avs last night made Tampa look like the DU Pioneers.(National Champs also. 2 more Av wins,& we WILL be talking about that "State of hockey" title-Minnesota-at least for 1 year)-or Colorado Eagles.(won 2 rounds-AHL quarterfinals). Actually hard to believe DU or the Eagles couldn't put up more resistance than last night-but probably not-lol.
I don't wanna get ahead of myself, cuz I have too much respect for Tampa,& still remember last year-being up 2-0 on Vegas,(including 7-1 in game 1,& OT win in game 2-reversed from this series)-then losing 4 straight. Difference is this is a far more resilent, confident,& deep Av team than last year. Another difference-we saw that series shift-2nd period of game 2-where Vegas dominated the rest of that game 2-but lost. Grubbauer played unbelievable,& allowed us to steal game 2 in OT. This time the Avs have basically dominated both games, despite OT on Wednesday. And no Patrick Nemeth lobbing grenades to set up Vegas grade A+ chances this year.. Grubbauer got progressively worse that series,& melted down in game 6-a game the Avs actually deserved to win,& force game 7.
But all these recent close calls,underachievements,(2021),insane, ridiculous injuries at the wrong time,(2020 bubble with Michael Hutchinson in net)-& disputed, disallowed tying goal in game 7.(SJ 2019)-all made this team stronger mentally, more resilent,& less likely to get comfortable. And if ya somehow get game 3-then maybe 16-2 is in the cards. But I'd personally be ecstatic with a split in Tampa,& a shot to wrap it up Friday at Ball in game 5.
I read every word of your comment, also an Avs fan and sports fan in general, moved to Colorado in 2002 not long after second Cup won over Devils That was a great series. From Tampa originally, but pulling for Avs all the way. (Rooted for TB last two years after Avs got knocked out). After game 2 of LV series, I knew Avs we're in trouble, but never got that sense this year even after Blues losses. Anyway, Good comment. Two more wins, need to win at least one in TB.
Colorado has been a hockey state ever since the team came here. I can't remember a time where I hit up a local bar on a game night, and it wasn't packed with fans with the game on. Let's go boys, I'm watching my 11 year old memories come true again!
EDIT: To clarify: They won the cup when I was 11 years old. I haven't been frequenting bars since that age.
As a lifelong Flames fan, I have a massive chip on my shoulder for the Lightning, and you will never see me cheer for them, but credit where credit is do- that save at 4:20 is a thing of beauty. Incredible, INCREDIBLE save
The only time I see you cheering for the Lightning is if they played the Oilers in the Finals, which obviously wasn't a matchup that would happen.

The Avs seem to have solved Vasilevsky, so many snipes at that low blocker side.
Vasilevsky will be back to Knock out the Avalanche, for good!
@@pale_saint That's when you have to have optimism and faith on your side to see you through the darkness of times. Remember, in game 1 Tampa was down

why is this unbelievable? The Avs have steam-rolled everyone. this is the best team I've seen this century.
This century? That's a bit of an exaggeration
1919 was the last time a 7-0 happened in the Stanley cup final.
Eh, depends. In 1991 (same numbers, different order), the Pens had a 7-0 lead on the North Stars in game 6 before Larry Murphy scored another goal with 6:15 left in the 3rd to make it 8-0.
for anyone who says, tampa was down 2-0 to the rangers and look at the end, this is way different. the rangers won game 1 6-2 and game 2 4-2 (with an EN insurance goal). you can honestly say that tampa improved games 1 to 2.
this series? the lost in ot and then got boat raced. let's assume they made adjustments between games 1 and 2. those changes did nothing and seemingly made things worse. if tampa doesn't figure things out by game 3, then this is over because tampa is not beating the avs 4 times in 4 games. the avs are clearly the best team tampa has played in the playoffs the last 3 years.
Absolutely!!!
A binnington-less blues team gave the Avs far more trouble than these guys. Colorado really unlocked the secret formula against Tampa
@@campbell9825 historically blues team are always hard fought series against Avs, don't let the 12-3 record deceive, blues made the Avs earn everyone of those 12 wins

I was so lucky to go to that game as my first Stanley cup game attended as an Avalanche fan. 20' away from Makar scoring a shortie as I was screaming shortie!
1996, game 2, Colorado vs. Florida was the last time a player got a hat trick in the Stanley Cup Finals and they had 2 people almost get one Saturday night (Val and Cale). Just like in 1996, the first game was close, second game Colorado blew out the Florida team. if history repeats, Game 4 will be a triple OT 1-0 affair with EJ winning it on a clappy-bomb from the point.

People seem to forget that tampa won two cups in a row because they beat two teams who realistically shouldn’t even have been in the finals but now tampa is facing a true team in colorado and they now see how the stars and habs felt (so far)
The Stars were a fine team, however, you’re correct in saying they weren’t Finals worthy. The Habs were practically hoisted to the Finals by Carey Price, while he was injured too. No way should either of them been there. Lightning have had relatively easy Cup runs the last two years, and now it shows.
2021 was a free cup for Tampa, Habs had a losing record and only made it into the playoffs because of the division formats that year
@@spartannige3296 nah, I wouldn't say the entire runs were easy, the Islanders did give them a tough time the last 2 CFs, but the SC finals have been kind of a given to them for sure

As a Ranger fan I am enjoying the thrashing Tampa received.

You really have to admire the Avs showing the Bolts how a champion team humiliates a supposed champion team. Wors ass kicking than the best team losing and being swept in the first round by the Blue Jackets. This was the kinda game that 3 periods weren't enough. I coulda watched an all night game the way the Avs were playing.
The Avs are, quite literally, smashing the Lightning at their own game. Shutting them out & dominating. 🔥 &, that's what you normally see the Lightning doing to their opponents, especially at this stage. NOT, the other way around. 😏 It's safe to say that the Avs are, in fact, "terribly dangerous." &, they're meaning business. The stars, push, & drive is excellent & disciplined.
Furthermore, Kadri, MacKinnon, & Lehkonen. I want you to remember those names. They're due! 😉 Kadri is on his way back.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Avs have been planning to play Tampa Bay for a long time and figuring out a strategy against them, seeing as they've won the last two cups. It's almost like Colorado knew they'd be facing Tampa Bay in the finals and came prepared
1- why is anyone surprised by the Avs having a breakout romp
2- it’s less a “performance for the ages” than the Bolts didn’t show up (why is up for discussion)
3- this isn’t Tampa’s 1st rodeo or bad loss in the SCF. It looked like the 2015 series vs Chicago. And since game 3 went 6-2 Bolts, don’t assume anything. Avs still up, still favored, still deadly, but Tampa will not roll over.
4- that “Avs aren’t looking that dangerous” comment aged as well as a dried turd on a bad stretch of highway.
Hey, that's Elite NHL Sniper Josh Manson to you.
That was a great Ron
A performance for the ages. It's one thing to win 7-4 or even like 6-2, but 7-0 in the FINALS. Also, if Mac can finesse that backhand spin sometime 😂 I remember watching this at the Tivoli, I wasn't in that crowd outside I was in the brewery. Too fun.
Not two games away as most people would say it but two wins away as I am sure the Lightning might have something to say about it. Just having fun with semantics... =D
