I'm italian (I was born and I live in Italy) and I consider myself white. And here in Italy we all agree on this, like I never heard someone here questioning if Italians are white or not... only americans do that I guess. @@GM-ub8qy it comes first of all from profound cultural differences between north and south, for example we speak very different dialects and we have different habits(i.e. I use to eat between 12:00/12:45 and 18:45/19:15, while in the south they eat ≈2 hours later than me). Another big reason, maybe the biggest, is because they migrated and still migrate in the north because we’re richer and a lot of people see them as lazy, loud and dirty people who ruin our culture and city bringing their mafia-like attitude and laziness to us. But unfortunately these stereotypes are not totally untrue, giving you a practical example there was a government aid for unemployed people called RDC in Italy and more people were taking it solely in Naples than in the whole Lombardy(900k people against 10 million) and most of them were even working without declaring it and refusing the work proposal from the government. This was a good giggle. I'm black, so I don't have a dog in this fight, but I think of "white" as Anglo-Saxon. The majority of my Euro-heritage friends (Greek, Italian, Armenian, Georgian, Bulgarian, Russian, Polish) I lovingly refer to as "spicy white". I'm italian (I was born and I live in Italy) and I consider myself white. And here in Italy we all agree on this, like I never heard someone here questioning if Italians are white or not... only americans do that I guess.
This does not meand that black italians can't exist, but it's a minority.
We also should clarify if we are talking about ethinicity or nationality.

@@GM-ub8qy it comes first of all from profound cultural differences between north and south, for example we speak very different dialects and we have different habits(i.e. I use to eat between 12:00/12:45 and 18:45/19:15, while in the south they eat ≈2 hours later than me).
Another big reason, maybe the biggest, is because they migrated and still migrate in the north because we’re richer and a lot of people see them as lazy, loud and dirty people who ruin our culture and city bringing their mafia-like attitude and laziness to us.
But unfortunately these stereotypes are not totally untrue, giving you a practical example there was a government aid for unemployed people called RDC in Italy and more people were taking it solely in Naples than in the whole Lombardy(900k people against 10 million) and most of them were even working without declaring it and refusing the work proposal from the government.

This was a good giggle. I'm black, so I don't have a dog in this fight, but I think of "white" as Anglo-Saxon. The majority of my Euro-heritage friends (Greek, Italian, Armenian, Georgian, Bulgarian, Russian, Polish) I lovingly refer to as "spicy white". The “end” of what he filmed isn’t where the loop starts and ends. The loop is in the middle of a continuous scene, but he positioned the video to end in the middle. Basically like taking a VHS tape and cutting it in a random spot and then taping it back together

I am Italian, born and raised in the North of Italy, from Sicilian parents, both tan-olive skin and dark hair.and my whole life I've been white as milk, with blonde hair and green eyes lol (no I'm not adopted, I do look like my parents, except the colors. apparently we descent from Norwegian people and I got the lights colors like my aunt). but my dad, who was born and raised in Sicily, is very dark skinned, not to the point to be considered black, but at least mixed. like him, many people from southern Italy have darker skin, hair and a complexion that is similar to black people. I always envied my dad skin tone, and in the summer it gets even darker. if I go in the sun, I'll roast like a featherless chicken.

I'm sorry,but that's just not true. I'm from the South of Italy and most people around me look stereotypically European. During winter and spring is rare to see someone who isn't white as a paper. I'm Sicilian,but if I see someone with naturally brown skin and Arab facial features,my first thought is that they're an immigrant not Sicilian. A lot of people, especially older men,do jobs that require being under the sun all day and that "brown Sicilian skin" you're talking about is the result of sun damage,as if they were to show the not sun exposed parts of their body, they'll be whiter than a British man. Tha Arab did conquer the island but that doesn't mean they raped all the women,as they saw Christians as inferior beings they felt disgusted to even have something to do with them. It's like saying that because Congo was colonized by the Belgians, they're all Belgian now; that's nonsense my man,if you really think that's how it works I'm sorry you received such bad history lessons. The only specifically Arab traditions in Sicily- and that even is a stretch to call them traditions-are in the western area like Palermo,as in the north eastern part we didn't have a prominent Arab influence. If someone has more than 10% Arab or black DNA,it would be something recent,as the Arab and African regiments of the Allies would rape Italian women during WW2. Sorry for the long rant,but as a Sicilian I'm tired of seeing people trying to erase our true culture by assimilating it with either the Arabs or the Normans. Sicily isn't just that, there's traditions that are thousand of years old and derive mostly from the indigenous people of the island and the Greeks. Said that,I have nothing against Arabs or African people but it's like saying to a person from Turkey that they're Arab,and they won't be pleased by that. Please try to study your informations before spreading misleading ones on the internet to be racist.
@@user-wo7md6sl4o I didn't read it all, however I didn't talk about "race" (thing that doesn't exist in humanity) at all, I just pointed out that some customs could derive from different countries, since in Italy we're a mix of a lot of different cultures in the end, and we can have very different customs depending on the region.
And regarding skin color (topic you started, I never talked about it) in Italy we aren't all paper white, we have different genetics, and different families have diverse types of skin. Like for example my cousin doesn't go under the sun often, but he's just naturally a more like darkish/olive or how you want to call it. Or my dad for example, completely Italian, has afro like hair. We have a lot of different genetics features in Italy, our territory always had a lot of contact with cultures.

As a Sicilian I tell people I’m Sicilian and when they don’t understand I just tell them I’m Italian.
I tell people that I am Anishinaabe (which I am). After being amused for a few moments by the confusion on their faces, I say "Google is your friend". Then I turn and walk away, because I have no need for "friends" who divide humans into groups, then base their worth by what group they placed a person in.
